50th Annual Flint Art Fair – Call For Artists
The Friends of Modern Art announces a call for artists for the 50th Annual Flint Art Fair, to be held June 10 and 11, 2017.

The friendliest art fair in Michigan, the 50th Annual Flint Art Fair is a juried fine art and fine craft fair with monetary awards held on the lawn of the Flint Institute of Arts in the heart of the beautiful Flint Cultural Center. Attracting thousands of visitors each year, this event introduces original works from various genres including ceramics, glass, painting, jewelry, fiber, metal, mixed media, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and wood. Up to 150 artists will be invited to participate in this 2-day event and are eligible for monetary awards.
Rental is $250 per space. Double spaces and corner spaces may be requested (additional fees apply). Spaces are a grassy 10’ x 10’ with storage space behind each booth.
50th Annual Flint Art Fair artist benefits:
- $2,000 in cash awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
- Coffee and donuts are available Saturday morning in the Artist Hospitality area.
- Sunday morning is the catered Artists Awards Breakfast – free for artists.
- The Hospitality team of experienced volunteers is available to provide artists with short breaks and complimentary bottled water is available to artists at any time during the fair.
- Easy check-in and check-out procedures with drive-up access to booths for set-up and breakdown is provided.
- Parking is free.
- 24-hour security during the fair.

Exhibition of Contemporary Art
Each year, FOMA co-sponsors a traveling exhibition of contemporary art at the Flint Institute of Arts. Sponsored exhibitions in recent years have included Andy Warhol, M. C. Escher, Andrew Wyeth, Winfred Rembert, and the Art of Video Games.
Contemporary Art Purchase
Every other year, FOMA purchases artwork by a significant emerging artist for the collection of the Flint Institute of Arts. Recent gifts to the collection include works by Ralph Goings, Andrew Lenaghan, Chakaia Booker, and Lino Lago.
Weekly Film Series
For more than 25 years, FOMA has sponsored and coordinated a weekly series of independent, international, and classic films at the Flint Institute of Arts nine months out of each year. Films in the series are programmed with the goal of providing a rich, varied schedule of movies that represent a wide spectrum of locales, cultures, and attitudes as well as genres such as comedy, drama, fantasy/horror/science-fiction, musicals, great directors, classic films, and emerging filmmakers.
