2017 Downtown Mural Project – Call For Artists
The Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency (URA), in cooperation with several private property owners, are seeking artists to participate in the 2017 downtown mural project.

The Downtown Mural Project committee has identified two locations for murals this summer:
- West side of the Graffiti Records building (403 N Front Street, Elk Street side), and
- Anderson Warehouse located at the intersection of 2nd and F Streets, across from Broadway Burger Station.
The process for application this year includes a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) from interested artists. From the submitted 2017 Downtown Mural Project RFQs, the committee will select three artists for each project site to develop proposals. Artists will be compensated $150 each for concept development. The committee will select one artists (or team) for each project site from the concepts presented.
A stipend of $7,000 is available for the Anderson warehouse. An additional $2,500 is available if the west end of the building is incorporated. A stipend of $2,500 is available for the Graffiti building.
About Rock Springs Main Street
Rock Springs Main Street is responsible for Downtown redevelopment. Part of which is the addition of public art in the downtown area. Last fall, a Kickstarter program was utilized to raise funds for murals. It surpassed the goal of $7,500 by raising nearly $20,000. The community support for more art and murals in our community has been overwhelming. There is a huge sense of excitement about the program within our community.
The Rock Springs Main Street/URA is charged with the redevelopment of Downtown Rock Springs. As part of their mission, there are four standing committees – Economic Restructuring, Organization, Promotions, and Design.
