Art on the River Public Art Sculpture – Call for Artists

The City of Dubuque, Iowa, is soliciting applications from qualified artists over the age of 18 for the 2016-2017 Art on the River public art sculpture exhibit in its eleventh year.

Call for artists application / registration

Deadline: 27 Mar 2016

Previous experience in outdoor installation of public work is preferred but not necessary. Each year, 10-12 sculptures are chosen to be placed at highly visible locations along the picturesque Mississippi RiverWalk at the Port of Dubuque.

Artists receive $1,500 for loaning the work for a year. A $1,000 cash award for Best of Show is given to one artist and at the end of each term of residency one artist is chosen by the residents and visitors as the People’s choice (cash prize pending City council approval).

Dubuque is one of the most vital, creative, and attractive places to live and work in the area. This program had given many emerging artists the opportunity to exhibit alongside experienced professional artists. This is a growing program that garners more and more interest and exposure each year.
