Hot / Cool – Call For Artists
Gallery Underground in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington DC, invites all United States artists to enter its national juried show Hot / Cool, May 1-25, 2018.

Artists are encouraged to creatively interpret the terms hot and cool, which can describe colors, temperatures, desirability, popular culture, presentation, or appearance. Red is hot, blue is cool, trends can be hot, jazz can be cool, fashion can be either hot or cool, people can look hot and act cool.
Up to five artworks may be submitted to Hot / Cool: $35 for up to two pieces. $6 fee per subsequent entry, up to three more. Juried by internationally known artist and instructor Glen Kessler. Reception will be held Friday, May 4th from 5-8 PM featuring wine, refreshments, and music. Total $500 cash awards for Best in Show, Second, and Third Place. Gallery Underground will market the show and produce a postcard which will be distributed to the Crystal City area.

Gallery Underground is a brick and mortar gallery in Crystal City in Arlington, VA, voted “Best Art Gallery” by the readers of Arlington Magazine. Their First Friday opening receptions attract several hundred visitors. The most recent national juried show was favorably reviewed in the Washington Post in December. Gallery Underground is the premier art exhibition space for Arlington Artists Alliance members who are accepted into the gallery by jury. The artwork shown at Gallery Underground changes each month. An opening reception is held on the first Friday of every month. They feature juried solo and group shows in the Focus Gallery and members’ work in the Main Gallery, including paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media; drawings; sculpture; photography; glass; ceramics; and jewelry.
The Arlington Artists Alliance is a vital, energetic, creative force for visual art in Arlington County, VA. It is a creative collaborative of 140 artists working in Arlington. The Alliance is a 501(c)(3) arts organization, established in 2000 to serve and support visual arts in Arlington County. It provides professional development activities for local artists and serves the community through exhibits, instruction, mentoring, and outreach projects.
