Deadline: 1 Apr 2018
Residency Dates: July 1 – December 31, 2018
The Trestle Artist Residency is a professional development program which aims to provide space, community, and exhibition opportunities for emerging artists. These goals are achieved through six to twelve month residencies. This residency is aimed at helping artists find a foothold in the art world while they develop a new body of work as an Trestle Art Space Member.
The Trestle Artist Residency residency is ideal for artists:
- Developing a new body of work
- Entering or re-entering the art world
- Who have graduated with a BFA or MFA within the past two years
The Trestle Artist Residency (open or private studio) comes with 24/7 access to discounted studio space, and includes monthly advisor meetings with one of three advisors: Christina Kelly, Jason Stopa, or Adrienne Tarver. Each of the twelve meetings include formal critiques, studio visits with NYC curators and art world professionals, and opportunities to exhibit resident artwork curated by prominent guest curators.
Residents receive a 10% discount on the TAS Membership. Residents are given the opportunity to exhibit their work at Trestle. By participating in this program, artists take advantage of networking and community building opportunities in addition to having access to low-cost studio space. Residents give back to the community. They peek into the administrative end of the art world by volunteering in the gallery or studio for three hours per month.
