Deadline: 15 May 2018

OpenART is an exhibition that takes place in the city centre. The art will be placed outdoors available for public interaction during the exhibition period. OpenArt sees possibilities for a wide range of art mediums and techniques but are particularly looking for artworks for the open space and, in particular, new ideas on what public art can be.

OpenART Biennale Artist Benefits

Invited artists will receive an artist fee of 1000 EUR as well as transport, travel, and accommodation support. A confirmed group will share €1000. In some cases, OpenART provides production support and the most appropriate, time-efficient, and cost-effective solutions. When an artist is producing a new artwork, the artist is expected to follow the determined budget for the artwork. Artists are expected to participate in the installment of their own artworks. The OpenArt Biennale offers an exciting platform with media exposure and social media boosts. During the biennale, the city of Örebro is transformed temporarily into a huge outdoor art arena.

About OpenART

OpenART is Scandinavia’s largest biennial for contemporary art, taking place during twelve summer weeks in Örebro. It is a biennial that revolts against defined urban spaces and encourages creativity. Artists are invited from around the world to invade public spaces with their contemporary art. Art is a language that can be read by everyone, inspiring new encounters and building bridges rather than walls.

OpenART encourages visitors and residents to be a part of this creative process. Children and youths can explore and strengthen their creativity through OpenART Kids and DIY ARTLAB. The exhibition includes guided tours and pedagogical programmes. The entire exhibition is completely free. Therefore, no ticket required. OpenART nurtures artistic and human warmth, leaving no one unmoved.
