The Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC) is excited to announce the fourth annual really Affordable Art $how 2018, a national juried show opening October 6, 2018. The exhibit runs October 6 – 15, 2018. This is a selling show with art priced for anyone and everyone. Thousands of New York art lovers and collectors attend. To make it easy for new collectors, all work submitted must be for sale at $499 or less. Receive 70% of the selling price.

BWAC really loves art in all media. As well as looking for skill in the use of a variety of materials, BWAC looks for how well that medium relates to the concept or movement and how fully the artist’s intention or concept is presented and realized. The juror’s awards will reflect that artistic judgment. Virtually every medium is accepted including oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography, pastel, drawing, print, mixed media, sculpture, assemblage, and fabric. The juror is Brinda Kumar, Assistant Curator in the department of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City.
The broad theme of really Affordable Art $how 2018 encompasses all the possibilities of your imagination allowing you to think, play, and create outside the box with few inhibitions, restrictions, rules, or guidelines. Set yourself free to explore the possibilities of creativity.
really Affordable Art $how 2018 Artist Benefits
- Best of Show Gold: $1000 Purchase Prize. The work selected as ‘Best of Show’ will be purchased by BWAC for $1000 and added to Brinda Kumar’s personal collection.
- Best of Show Silver: $250
- Certificates of Recognition: $800 ($100 each for eight winners.)
All prize selections will be announced at the Opening Reception at 3PM.
About Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition
BWAC’s 25,000 square foot gallery is in a Civil War-era warehouse on the Red Hook waterfront. The vista of New York Harbor, spanning the Statue of Liberty to the Verrazano Bridge, is one of the best in the city. Gallery-goers enjoy the nearby restaurants, bars, IKEA, and Fairway Market.
For over 20 years, BWAC has provided support for musicians and performers, offering performance based opportunities to participate as a major feature of opening receptions and specially themed exhibitions. Performances complement ongoing programming. The art exhibitions and performances are free and open to the public.
