Phil Mikkelson [Certified Visual Artist – Tacoma, WA]
Phil Mikkelson is a new Side Arts Certified Visual Artist from Tacoma, WA.
In the late 80’s, Phil Mikkelson was a computer programmer by day and made and sold Voodoo jewelry (chicken bones, leather, electronic parts), dimensional paintings (mixed media on stacked layers of glass), art installations, and special effects for videos and live events by night.
In 1989, Phil got his first job in the video game industry – CHOMP! for the Commodore64, published by Cosmi. Since then he’s worked as a producer, designer, and artist for Accolade, Amazing Media, AVE, Berkeley Systems, Color Dreams, EA, Majesco, and Take-Two/Rockstar on games like Carnival Games, Ford vs Chevy, After Dark Games, Battlebots, GTA – San Andreas, Frankenstein Starring Tim Curry, and about 50 others.
Several years ago, he started to experiment combining resin, wood, electronics, water, metal, and biological elements to create physical art knowing it would take several years to refine and build up a body or work that someone might want to place in their home or business.
