I create multi-layered compositions using an iPhone. I begin with an image I’ve captured, then I use Apps on my iPhone to add layers. The additional layers are chosen to express feelings or to tell a story. I often add fine art, textiles, vintage postcards, found objects, and blossoms as layers.
Many years ago I studied art history and worked in the museum and design field as administrative support. I then had a family and have been teaching physical education full-time since 2003. In 2012 I started photographing my athlete husband and his cyclist friends to tell the story of their race events. I started posting on and visiting social media photography sites. My obsession and love for art photography began. I was and still am inspired by artists Man Ray, Harry Callahan, Francesca Woodman, and Saul Leiter. In 2015 my husband gave me an iPhone at the same time I attended an artist talk on collage art. I began creating compositions and collages using only my iPhone. This shift established my current work. I now tell my own stories and have exhibited in small galleries in Central and Southern California.
