Saunders started her award-winning photography career as a self-taught performance and documentary photographer. After studying at The School of Visual Arts and the International Center of Photography in NYC, she worked as a photo editor for two alternative publications and then established herself in NYC as an editorial and fine art photographer.
Saunders exhibits regularly, her work has been published worldwide and it is held in the corporate collections of Pfizer, Inc., General Electric as well as other corporate and private collections. More recently she was the recipient of a NYC Space for Art residency, a Brooklyn Arts Council grant and an NEA-funded artist-residency for her ongoing photo-text series, "Pioneers of Bushwick", a photography narrative of portraits and stories of residents living in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
