Artists from across Australia are invited to enter the Mandorla Art Award 2016 from the Mandorla Centre for Inner Peace.
Deadline: 2 May 2016
The winning artwork receives $25,000 and joins the likes of Julie Dowling, Theo Koning, Brian McKay, and Paul Kaptein in our collection.
This prestigious award has a major prize of $25,000 and two highly commended awards of $5,000 each. Finalists will be exhibited at Linton & Kay Galleries in Perth CBD from July 15 – 23. A selection of these works will also be exhibited at New Norcia Museum and Art Gallery and St John of God Health facilities.
The Mandorla Art Award offers artists and the public a new vision that is actually a very old vision, the place of the Christian religion in art. It is the fulfillment of a dream held by a small group of committed Christians, the Mandorla Centre of Inner Peace.
Wishing to balance the largely secular nature of most art seen in today’s galleries, the Mandorla Art Award Committee selects a particular theme or passage from the Bible, Old or New Testaments.
This unique approach among Australian religious art prizes invites artists to think laterally and with sensitivity by interpreting this in two- or three-dimensional works.
