Curiosity Artist Benefits
Best in show & Honorable mention awards presented opening night. Artists/artwork from the exhibition will receive promotion online and via promotional videos sent to mailing lists and shared on social media. Artists from exhibitions that go on to a museum location are encouraged to be in invitational versions of the exhibition. Steady foot traffic throughout the week. There is good traffic flow during this exhibition due to Woodstock’s Groundhog Day festivities, which brings in tourism.
Social Equity
J + K Isacson intentionally curates for inclusion. Some themes expressly highlight artists whose voices have not been heard, including artists from different ethnicities, psychological disorders, religions, gender identity, and sexual orientation. They seek to give a platform to artists whose style of artwork or whose personal characteristics have provided them with limited opportunity to show in all our exhibitions.
About J + K Isacson
J + K Isacson works with emerging, mid-career, and museum-exhibiting artists. J + K Isacson are curators for the exhibition, working in partnership with the Northern Area Arts Council and the Old Courthouse Arts Center in Woodstock, IL. It overlooks historic Woodstock square, which you may recognize from the film Groundhog Day.
The Old Courthouse was constructed in 1857, a classic brick structure designed by one of the country’s most prominent architects, John Mills Van Osdel. The adjoining Sheriff’s House & Jail was built 30 years later. After 115 years as the focal point of McHenry County government, the county outgrew the buildings in 1972 and the complex was to be demolished for a parking lot. It was saved from the wrecker’s ball by Woodstock residents Cliff and Bev Ganschow. The Ganschows bought the buildings and began an extensive renovation program completed for American’s Bicentennial in 1976. Because of the buildings’ architectural and historical significance, both the Old Courthouse and Sheriff’s House & Jail are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Carrollwood Cultural Center announces a call for artists for Winter Wonderland, an exhibit focused on works that pertain to the first fallen snow, living in or visiting the north during wintertime, and horse drawn carriage rides. The preferred palette is white, greys, gold, and silver with splashes of color. Open to all loving artists withing the state of Florida who are 15 years or older.

The Center accepts 2D and limited 3D creations including watercolor, acrylic, oil, assemblage, encaustic, mixed media, sculpture, and photography. Large works, up to 50 inches in any direction, are ideal. Work may not be smaller than 8 in x 10 in. There are limited pedestals for 3D works. Very heavy pieces may require special handling. Small works are fine as long as they are framed properly.

Quad City Arts invites artists residing within a 250-mile radius of the Quad Cities to submit a proposal for the Quad City Arts Exhibits 2020, a gallery exhibition in one of two gallery spaces during 2020-21 (Downtown Rock Island, IL and MLI airport in Moline, IL). Quad City Arts Exhibits 2020 Artist Benefits
Quad City Arts’ Rock Island Gallery is located in what was once a department store in 1908, with the original wood floors and a 14′ high, tin ceiling. The exhibition gallery has 1500 sq. feet of space and 106 running feet of wall space. There are floor-to-ceiling north facing windows looking out on the Mississippi River.
Art @ the Airport is in front of the main arrival/departure seating area in the Quad City International Airport. It houses 1,600 square feet of exhibition space in floor to ceiling glass cases. Over 2 million visitors pass through this space annually.
Exhibitions at our Rock Island gallery also include an opening reception on the first Friday of the exhibit.
About Quad City Arts
Quad City Arts Council, founded in 1970 as an arts advocacy organization that operated a visual arts gallery and re-granting program for local artists, launched Visiting Artists, Inc. in 1974 as an educational residency program presenting multi-disciplinary performing arts through residencies in schools and at community sites. Due to high demand for the residencies, Festival of Trees debuted in 1986 as a fund raiser for the program.

GaleriaZero (from 1997) may be considered a dynamic art gallery that specializes in the international promotion of artists and the increase of the communication between perception and art in its widest sense. This means that they do not center only in visual artists, but as well in photographers, performers, architects and even poets, light, and sound artists.
The concept is not just exhibiting artworks. GaleriaZero promotes presentations as a general concept and integration between several art forms. The aim is to provide a specific art experience in line with the theme and concept of the exhibition project. They transmit a specific meaning in the conjunctions presented in order to promote a social discussion or contribution of interest.
In the mentioned sense, GaleriaZero is not a commercial art gallery, but more a promoter of artists and a creator of socially relevant art presentations realized in collaboration with the artists, the location, and specific professionals for the characteristics and the quality of the art experiences. The publication releases every quarter and includes the work of artists who work in a variety of mediums. Accepted artists have a four-page spread of their work, information, and artist statement.

The Mildred M. Cox Gallery at William Woods University announces a call for artists for Struggle For Statehood: Missouri, The Show Me State. The traveling exhibit will explore the significance of Missouri’s statehood. It will examine the conflict, crisis, and compromise surrounding its admission into the Union in commemoration of its upcoming bicentennial. This exhibit was developed by the Missouri Humanities Council in consultation with the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy. It is supported by The Bicentennial Alliance. Companion programming has been made possible in part from funding provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The Struggle For Statehood jurors will select best-of-show, first, second, and third place awards.
Social Equity
Since 2015, William Woods University hosts the Bridging Differences, Conversations on Gender, and Race Symposium annually. The symposium features nationally recognized speakers, sponsors an art exhibition, and provides round table discussions. These events are open to the public.
About William Woods University
William Woods University has a long and fascinating history originating in the aftermath of the American Civil War. First known as the Female Orphan School, the institution that is now William Woods University was founded in 1870 in Camden Point, Missouri in response to the needs of female children orphaned during the war.
During the late nineteenth century, the institution moved to Fulton, Missouri, and expanded its elementary and secondary programs to accommodate young women who aspired to become teachers. Known briefly at the beginning of the twentieth century as Daughters College, the institution changed its name to William Woods College to honor a major benefactor and began offering a two-year college program. In 1962, anticipating dramatic changes in the role of American women in the labor force, William Woods became a four-year college.
Expanding its mission to address the need for graduate and adult-oriented programs, the institution became known as William Woods University in 1993. It began offering graduate degrees and admitting men as well as women into all of its programs.

Chosen artists for Nature of Being: Portraits will be showcased in a gallery space located in the vibrant and eclectic East Passyunk Square area of South Philadelphia. Artists will have the opportunity to not only sell their work at a commission, but also sell prints and smaller pieces in a storefront retail space. Deja 42 Art Gallery promotes featured artists through social media such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter as well as the gallery’s website. Showing artists receive 60% of their retail ask. BBA Gallery in Berlin, Germany announces an art call for the Photography Prize. They will offer four shortlisted artists an exhibition during Berlin Photo Week at BBA Gallery in October 2019.

The gallery team will select the shortlisted artists. A jury consisting of the gallery directors and industry professionals will then decide on the winner. There are no restrictions in terms of theme, photography medium, or educational background. Installations and conceptual works are welcome. Four shortlisted photo artists exhibit at BBA Gallery in October 2019 during Berlin Photo Week. WhiteWall will sponsor the production of all selected photo works for the exhibition. In addition, each shortlisted artist receives a software package by Skylum and promotion through the gallery’s website, PR, and social media channels.
The Photography Prize winner is selected by a jury and will receive an artist profile on the gallery platform Artsy through BBA Gallery. WhiteWall will present the winner’s works in their showrooms with a touring solo show.
