Northern Appalachian Folk Festival – Call for Artists

Downtown Indiana, Pennsylvania announces a call for artists for the Northern Appalachian Folk Festival (NAFF).

The Northern Appalachian Folk Festival is dedicated to preserving the past, promoting the present, and securing the future of folk music, art folkways, and other forms of cultural expression of those living in the northern tier of the Appalachian region. Through the involvement of artisans, volunteers, entertainers, and business partners, the festival presents an entertaining, educational and community driven event thereby contributing to the enrichment of the cultural environment of those living in the northern tier of the Appalachian region.

The festival features the work of artists, craftspeople, musical performers, and food vendors. NAFF also includes films, workshops, art exhibitions, excursions, and theater performances at numerous venues throughout the downtown area of Indiana, Pennsylvania.

Artists and vendors who live in or have roots in the Northern Appalachia Region are welcome to apply! An $85 early bird booth fee is available to artists who apply before April 30, 2016.

Artists will have an opportunity to share and sell their art with a large, diverse group of people in the Downtown Indiana area. This regional festival will have headliners Southern Culture on the Skids and Dar Williams who are sure to draw a crowd.

Awards will also be given to qualifying booths and fees for next year’s festival will be waived for winners.

The Northern Appalachian Folk Festival has teamed up with Downtown Indiana Inc. to bring this regional festival to the picturesque streets of Indiana, PA.

The festival is also interesting because it is not merely a festival, but a movement that is dedicated to preserving the past, promoting the present, and securing the future of folk music, art folkways, and other forms of cultural expression of those living in the northern tier of the Appalachian region.

Downtown Bryan Association announces a call for artists for the Downtown Bryan Street and Art Fair.

Artists participating will be able to showcase their creations to the hundreds of visitors we receive every year. The fair is also a Texas A&M University’s recognized event during parent’s weekend, drawing an even bigger crowd to come check out the artwork.

The Downtown Bryan Association (DBA) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create, cultivate, and showcase the commerce, culture, and community of our Downtown District by preserving the past and building a vibrant future. Through its leadership and partnership activities, the DBA supports the economic growth and physical appeal of Downtown Bryan, while constantly looking for opportunities for improvement and growth within the community.

Bay Harbor’s 17th Annual Arts Festival – Call for Artists

Bay Harbor, Michigan announces a call for artists for Bay Harbor’s 17th Annual Arts Festival to be held July 29-31.

There will be cash prizes awarded for the artistic quality of the artist’s displayed body of work. First prize will be $750, second place $500, and third place $250. These winners will also have their application fees waived in 2017 and will not need to be juried.

The Arts Festival supports the arts and artists and seeks the opportunity to display a broad array of art while encouraging the creation of high-quality art that demonstrates creativity and innovation.

The Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild announces a call for artists for the Carolina Artisan Craft Market.

Emerging and career fine craft artists who are creating work that reflects a mastery of technique and originality of design in the following disciplines are encouraged to apply: glass, ceramics, wood, both wearable and decorative fibers, metal, leather, basketry, printmaking, photography, and 2-D and 3-D mixed media as well as one-of-a-kind handmade furniture and both precious and semi-precious jewelry.

The event will be held November 11-13, 2016 in downtown Raleigh, NC.

Artists juried into the event benefit from: professional advertising and promotion; indoor contemporary venue provides a climate controlled festive shopping experience; strong and affluent region that draws 4,000+ qualified attendees; over $3,000 in cash awards; a covered load in/load out with 9 loading docks connecting directly to the exhibit hall; website displays artist profiles, schedules, directions and Facebook (Carolina Designer Craftsmen), Twitter (NC Crafts Guild) and Instagram (CarolinaDesignerCraft) accounts provide additional up-to-date promotions and images; friendly, organized, and supportive staff and volunteers. With 98% of exhibiting artists reporting in 2015, the average total sales per artist was $3,570; 77% of all exhibiting artists reported their experience was “Excellent” or “Good.”

The Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild (CDCG) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1970. CDCG is a community of artisans advancing fine craft as an art form and creating opportunity for economic prosperity. In it’s 47th year, CDCG hosts the region’s major show held annually in Raleigh, NC in November.

Summer Arts and Crafts Fair – Call for Artists

The Fuller Lodge Art Center announces a call for artists for the Summer Arts and Crafts Fair.

The 40th Annual Summer Arts and Crafts Fair takes place in conjunction with the Los Alamos Rodeo which draws a multitude of visitors. The neighboring library hosts the county fair at the same time and there is live music throughout the day. Over 100 jury-selected artisans set up booths on the lawn of the Historic Fuller Lodge, across the street from Ashley Pond, where there are food vendors and commercial and non-profit booths. We welcome regional artists as well as artists from throughout the southwest. Past fairs have featured jewelers, potters, glassworks, woodwork, painting, sculpture, photography, furniture, clothing, and chainsaw sculpted bears. Admission is free, with free parking. The Rodeo parade passes the fair in the morning.

Artists keep all income from their sales. This is a good opportunity to make contacts for later commissions. After the parade, the fair is mobbed as people come in from the street.

The summer fair takes place on lush grass park behind Fuller Lodge. Fuller Lodge Art Center hosts thematic juried group exhibits throughout the year and offers art instruction taught by professional artists. The town has just received a designation as the Manhattan Project National Historical Park so we anticipate an increasing tourist population.
