Awards are given for the best use of color in the following categories: painting, mixed media, sculpture, photography, drawing, and printmaking.
Over $1,500 in awards.
The juror is Michele Wijegoonaratna, PhD., Modern & Contemporary Art Department Research Associate, Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY.
The 36th Faber Birren Color Award Show exhibition dates are September 25 through October 27, 2016 at SAA Townhouse Gallery, Stamford, CT.
The Stamford Art Association has had this color award show for 36 years to honor Faber Birren, renowned color consultant and theorist, and former Stamford resident.

The City of Norwalk Parking Authority’s Maritime Garage Gallery is inviting submissions from artists, 18 and over, for a new exhibit at the Maritime Gallery, Aqua Exhibit, that will run from April 13 through July 8, 2016.

The exhibit, Aqua, will represent art that uses water as an inspiration. With the 71% of the earth’s surface covered with water, we are constantly reminded of the beauty, the magic, the strength, and the importance of this substance. It is powerful yet fragile, peaceful yet tremendous, abundant yet scarce.
Chosen artists will have their art on display in a separate gallery in a busy parking garage in the downtown area that has more than 1,500 people going in and out of it daily.
The Maritime Garage Gallery is part of the Norwalk Parking Authority’s Art in Parking Places initiative which seeks to support art in public spaces making Norwalk a more vibrant destination. The gallery is free and open to the public.

West Hartford Art League announces a call for artists for CT+6, a furied exhibit open to artists residing in New England plus New York.

This is the ninth annual CT+6 exhibit that showcases the best artists in new England and New York. The West Hartford Art League was founded in 1934 and has two galleries which show work on a monthly basis.

Guilford Art Center seeks 180 fine craft artists for its juried show to be held July 15-17-2016 on the historic Guilford, CT Green.

Works must be hand made in the USA or Canada with the use of appropriate tools, individually or with help from a limited number of assistants/apprentices. Event is held outdoors under tents rain or shine and attracts 8,000 visitors, artists and collectors.
Artists works will be showcased in a beautiful shoreline setting at the height of the summer season. Returning artists are able to connect with their regular customers each year, and new artists may establish the groundwork for future collaborations with other artists, find customers for commission work, or find new buyers and collectors for their current work. Gate proceeds benefit the Guilford Art Center’s educational programs; exhibiting artists keep 100% of their sales.
Craft Expo, which is celebrating its 59th year in 2016, takes place on the historic and picturesque Guilford CT Green, a quintessential New England setting. This landmark show, known for its one-of-a-kind works, draws visitors from around the northeast who seek high-quality art and interactions with artists.
All proceeds generated from this unique 3-day show benefit the Guilford Art Center, a non-profit institution established to nurture and support excellence in the arts. In addition to Craft Expo, the Guilford Art Center operates a school, shop and gallery that are open year-round and serve the greater shoreline community.

The exhibit will run from September 29 through January 4, 2016.
The exhibit, entitled “Flux” will represent art with the theme of states of constant change; flow, melt, unrest, volatility. Flux is all around us in the form of science, medicine, physics, chemistry, and even in an emotional sense. How does the artist represent flux -or how does flux represent them?
Artists will be part of an exhibit in a public space that has a daily estimated traffic of: 1,500 – 2,100 visitors. Promotions and public relations for the exhibit may feature their work as well.
The Maritime Garage Gallery is part of the Parking Authority’s “Art in Parking Places” initiative in collaboration with the Norwalk Arts Commission. The program is an effort to support art in public spaces making Norwalk a more vibrant destination.
