Deadline: 7 Feb 2019

The Photography, Sculpture, and Fiber Art Juried Show will feature the work of many artists who transform their seen and imagined worlds into compelling works of art. For the first time, RAC will include fiber art as a category for an exhibition in the gallery (defined as fine art whose material consists of natural or synthetic fiber and other components such as fabric or yarn).

Michael Shapiro, Judge, is a collector of vintage and contemporary photography. He became established as a dealer in 1980 after leaving a curatorial position at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu, California. His nonprofit work includes eight years as a board member of the Ansel Adams Center/Friends of Photography, as well as serving on the boards of San Francisco Art Dealer’s Association and the San Francisco Waldorf School.

The Craftys Awards for Crafts and DIY – Call for Artists

The Craftys Awards, which celebrate the best in DIY and crafts across the United States, recently launched and culminates in a livestream broadcast on November 6, 2015 from San Francisco.

Call for artists application

Deadline: 25 Oct 2015

The fee to enter the awards is free.

Hosted by PBS’ crafting guru Mark Montano, The Craftys have categories for several different types of art, including decorative painting, fashion sewing, knitting, fiber art, crochet and quilting. There’s also a general crafts category for any project that may not already have its own Craftys prize.

  • A special award will also be given to the Best Young Crafter under 18 that includes a $500 prize for the winner’s school.
  • The Best of Show award will be presented to one of the category winners for the craft that has it all – creativity, great design and that elusive “It” factor.
  • The Craftys’ Best in Show winner receives $1,000 and each category winner gets $200.

We celebrate all types of arts and crafts, from sticker art to knitting, sewing, quilting, and more. The person who won The Craftys Best in Show prize for 2014 knitted her own wedding dress.
