The Shelby Township Art Fair Committee is seeking artists and vendors for its 34th annual juried show,Shelby Township Art Fair 2017, to be held on August 12 and 13.

Shelby Township Art Fair 2017 has four exhibitor categories. This event is held outdoors on the Shelby Township Municipal Grounds with booths located on grass, many with shade trees. All booths measure approximately 15’ x 15’ with some double booths available. No resale products, services, home improvement companies, or distributors permitted.
Located on the Shelby Township Municipal Grounds, the venue is on Van Dyke Avenue, just south of 24 Mile Road. Out of town exhibitors will have a choice of several hotels, great restaurants, and shopping all located within a few miles of the Municipal Grounds. Shelby Township is located about 25 miles north of Detroit in southeast Michigan.
Shelby Township Art Fair 2017 Categories
- Art media – Original, hand-made, one of a kind pieces (with the exception of prints), created and produced by the artist including, but not limited to: clay • digital • fiber • glass • jewelry • metal • mixed media • painting • photography • printmaking • drawing • sculpture • stone • wood • multi-media
- Emerging artists – Artists just starting to exhibit in any of the art mediums listed above that don’t have enough work for a full booth. Each accepted artist may rent no more than one 6 foot table under the Emerging Artists Tent.
- Craft media – Items created by the crafter and produced in small quantities including, but not limited to: home décor • clothing and accessories • jewelry that is not one of a kind
- Michigan made market – Items created in batches by Michigan based businesses including, but not limited to: food items • bath and body products • candles • toys and games • books • pet products
Fees – Payable by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard only
- Application/Jury fee: $20 for all categories
- Artist Booth fee: $150 – single, or $320 double
- Crafter Booth fee: $150 – single, or $320 double
- MI Made Booth fee: $75 – single, or $160 double
- Emerging Artist fee: $75 for one six foot table (limit 1 table per artist)
The friendly, helpful, organized staff, easy load-in and load-out, Friday night set-up, plenty of free daytime and overnight parking close to exhibit areas, overnight grounds security, and complimentary coffee and donuts each morning help to create a fun, friendly atmosphere.
Advertising in local and regional publications, internet social media, television and radio announcements, e-mail blasts, flyers, banners, signs throughout the community, and more bring over 10,000 visitors to the event.

The Shelby Township Art Fair Committee and the Shelby Township Parks and Recreation Department have organized and presented this event for 34 years. The attendance is good, although not overwhelming like some larger shows. The small town atmosphere in an upper-middle class community makes for an enjoyable weekend for visitors that come from Macomb, Oakland, Wayne, Washtenaw, and St. Clair Counties.
The Art Fair Committee consists of local artists and select members of the Parks and Recreation Department staff. They work year around together to provide a quality event where a variety of juried exhibitors and visitors can enjoy a great Michigan summertime weekend.

The South Haven Center for the Arts (SHCA) announces a call for artists for the South Haven Art Fair 2017, a two-day event on Saturday and Sunday, July 1st and 2nd 2017 from 10 am to 5 pm at Stanley Johnston Park, 202 Dyckman Ave.

The art fair is held every summer in the coastal resort town of South Haven. It attracts massive Fourth of July crowds to a beautiful wooded park one block away from Lake Michigan’s sandy shores. SHCA’s goals are to provide a successful environment for exhibiting artists, creatively market to a wide range of potential buyers, and provide a professional awards program by credentialed judges. All work must be the creation of the exhibiting artist. The original concept, design, and execution must be attributable solely to the displaying artist. All artists will be juried. All work on display must be consistent with images submitted. Artists must be 18 years or older.
On-site judging will begin Saturday morning, July 1st. The judges will cast their votes to recognize the best artist in each of ten media categories for cash awards, certificates, and reduced booth fees in next year’s art fair.
The following South Haven Art Fair 2017 categories are juried and receive awards:
- Clay/Ceramics (functional and non-functional)
- Digital art/Graphics/Printmaking: Digital art is original work created on a computer. Printmaking is a transfer process of producing original art, usually in multiples.
- Fiber (decorative and wearable)
- Jewelry (precious and non-precious)
- Mixed media (2D and 3D)
- Painting (watercolor, oils, and acrylic)
- Photography: Photographs must be made from the artist’s original image, film or digital.
- Sculpture (metal, wood, and other): Any media, including furniture, in figurative or abstract in any 3D works
One South Haven Art Fair 2017 winner will be chosen by the jurors in each of the above categories. Each winner will receive a certificate, cash prize, and complimentary South Haven Center for the Arts membership. In the application, please select the option if one or both of these apply to you:
- Sustainable art: Original artistic creation that is produced in harmony with the key principles of sustainability while also considering the impact the work has on its environment.
- Emerging artist: Current students, recently graduated students, second career artists, or new to art festival exhibition.

The Friends of Modern Art announces a call for artists for the 50th Annual Flint Art Fair, to be held June 10 and 11, 2017.

The friendliest art fair in Michigan, the 50th Annual Flint Art Fair is a juried fine art and fine craft fair with monetary awards held on the lawn of the Flint Institute of Arts in the heart of the beautiful Flint Cultural Center. Attracting thousands of visitors each year, this event introduces original works from various genres including ceramics, glass, painting, jewelry, fiber, metal, mixed media, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and wood. Up to 150 artists will be invited to participate in this 2-day event and are eligible for monetary awards.
Rental is $250 per space. Double spaces and corner spaces may be requested (additional fees apply). Spaces are a grassy 10’ x 10’ with storage space behind each booth.

Contemporary Art Purchase
Every other year, FOMA purchases artwork by a significant emerging artist for the collection of the Flint Institute of Arts. Recent gifts to the collection include works by Ralph Goings, Andrew Lenaghan, Chakaia Booker, and Lino Lago.
Weekly Film Series
For more than 25 years, FOMA has sponsored and coordinated a weekly series of independent, international, and classic films at the Flint Institute of Arts nine months out of each year. Films in the series are programmed with the goal of providing a rich, varied schedule of movies that represent a wide spectrum of locales, cultures, and attitudes as well as genres such as comedy, drama, fantasy/horror/science-fiction, musicals, great directors, classic films, and emerging filmmakers.

The Grand Haven Chamber of Commerce announces a call for artists for the Coast Guard Craft Fair. This is one of the most popular fairs in Michigan and held during one of the state’s biggest festivals – The Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival.

Think Jackson announces a call for artists for ARTitude, a five-week holiday juried art marketplace located in Downtown Jackson.

ARTitude is open November 18th through December 24th with six day per week regular hours. The venue offers a single-register system to allow artists to have flexible on-site schedules. There is a new location this year at 133 W. Michigan Ave., a main street storefront in Downtown Jackson.
Artists will receive a 100 sq.ft. booth space, use of the single-register system, and marketing of the marketplace as a whole. Previous artists have stated that they have also benefited from the collaboration with each other.

South Haven Center for the Arts wants to feature new works and showcase the talent of Great Lakes artists. Open to artists in the following states: Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
There will be cash prizes for the 7th Annual Juried Exhibition based on the number of entries – the more people who enter, the more prize money. The juror will pick 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places and there will be a People’s Choice award for a 4th prize.
