The Human Impacts Institute’s Creative Climate Awards (CCA) are an annual series of events that showcase artists creating climate-inspired, public works. In an effort to inspire us to think more critically about our actions and their impacts, the Creative Climate Awards program uses the arts and creativity to share knowledge, broaden the climate conversation, educate, and incite action.

Artwork submissions may include: all 2D works, films (shorts and features), 3D works (sculptures and installations), and performances (dance, theater, music).  Only completed pieces will be considered. Do not submit concept notes or requests for commissions.  Artists from communities that  are underrepresented and/or are most impacted by the climate crisis are strongly encouraged to apply. Artists are responsible for costs of shipping works to and from New York City. Performers must be able to perform in New York City between April 20th and May 20th, 2024.

Creative Climate Awards Artist Benefits

The Creative Climate Awards are a month-long festival of virtual conversations, screenings, artist talks, and a citywide exhibit in New York City. The Creative Climate Awards exhibition and event provides an opportunity to creatively engage tens-of-thousands of people in climate action, while having your work seen by judges and mentors from some of the top art and environment institutions, including the Brooklyn Museum, MOCADA, Children’s Museum of NY, PBS, and All Arts/WNET. Over the last decade, the Creative Climate Awards have showcased climate-inspired artwork from around the globe, including 194 artists from 31 countries and reached over 200,000 audience members.

About Human Impacts Institute

MvVO ART bridges the gap of the art and ad work by bringing together very respected art professionals and collectors to review art. The Oculus is a landmark in NYC. The show is open to the public all of May.

Artists are featured in MvVO’s Artsy gallery. Artists are promoted after the show is over if they have interesting news. MvVO does not charge a commission on sales. The winner is honored with a Specialty Clio in Contemporary Art.

Abstract Photography Competition (Online)- Call For Artists

Abstract Photography Competition (Online)- Call For Artists

[Sponsored Listing] The New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA) announces a call for artists for Abstract, an online photography competition. Abstract art is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality, but instead use shapes, colors, forms, and gestural marks to achieve its effect.

Click here for the application / registration

Deadline: 7 Mar 2021

The early days of photography centered on true to life imagery, i.e. family portraits, images of streets, towns, and mansions. Over time, photographers expanded their vision to more moody images, ultimately to where photography is today – an all encompassing art form generated by camera and lens and producing a vast sampling of imagery from reality to less recognizable abstracts.

This call is about the abstracts – those images that are not instantly identified as that person, that thing, and so forth. It doesn’t matter if you photograph something abstract or create the abstraction through photographic processes. Macro shots, close ups of graffiti, fanciful post processing manipulations, or just photographing something at an angle that disguises it. They all work. As with all NYC4PA calls all 2D photo mediums are welcome.

The prizes total $3000 and have a grand prize, 3 first prizes, 3 second prizes, 3 third prizes – 20 juror’s selections and 20 honorable mentions. All 50 winners are posted in a gallery on the NYC4PA website and included in an exhibition gallery. The call is open to any photographers worldwide and of any age, amateurs or professional. A professional photographer, gallery owner, or photography teacher is the juror.

About New York Center for Photographic Art

New York Center for Photographic Art offers six opportunities a year for photographers, from amateur to professional, male or female, and young or old. NYC4PA was conceived and developed by Patricia Gilman and Maddi Ring.
