Wild About Art At The Toledo Zoo (Ohio) – Call For Artists

[Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] The Toledo Zoo announces a call for artists for Wild About Art, seeking creative artists and skilled makers to take part in a uniquely wild, two-day art fair that takes place throughout Zoo grounds. This event features local and regional artists with various mediums on display and for sale to thousands of Zoo visitors. It includes live entertainment, hands-on art activities, and, of course, animals!

Work does not have to be animal related. Mediums permitted: ceramics, drawing, painting, glass, jewelry, mixed media, metal working, photography, printmaking/graphics, sculpture, textiles, and wood.

Wild About Art Artist Benefits

Artists will set up around the Zoo’s beautiful grounds and animals and be exposed to a diverse audience of animal and art lovers. Wild About Art will be promoted to the Zoo’s huge, loyal membership base of over 70,000 households, as well as over 343,000 Facebook followers. Staff and volunteers assisting with the event are top notch and bend over backwards to make sure artists feel welcome and taken care of. Artist Amenities include:

  • Free parking and Zoo admission
  • Free electricity
  • An air-conditioned artist lounge with complimentary beverages and snacks
  • Volunteer booth sitters available up to 15 minutes
  • Volunteers on hand to assist with set up and tear down
  • 24-hour security
  • An estimated over 10,000 Zoo visitors for the weekend

About the Toledo Zoo

The Toledo Zoo has been around for more than a hundred years. It is home to more than 10,000 individual animals representing over 720 species. In an effort to save endangered wildlife, the zoo participates in more than 80 Species Survival Plans that ensure healthy, genetically diverse Zoo populations. Travel around the world from the tropics to Greenland, ocean to sky, and desert to rainforest in one Zoo visit. Animals take part in the art fair by creating their own works of art, a huge attendance driver for the event.

[Sponsored Listing] The National Collage Society (NCS) is excited to announce a call for artists for the Annual Small Format Exhibit. This year’s exhibit will take place at Summit Artspace in Akron, Ohio.

For this NCS members postcard exhibit, 100% are accepted. This is a member show, anyone who is a member and enters will be in the show. This exhibition does not count toward your Signature Member status. This exhibit gives each participating member an opportunity to display one collage.

All collages must be 4″ x 6″ in size. All submissions of collage postcards are to be mounted, not matted, and centered on an 8” x 10” white mat board horizontal or vertical.

There is no jury for the Small Format Exhibit and one awards judge. Cash awards and merit certificates will be selected by the awards judge.

The National Collage Society is a not for profit art organization created in 1985. For the past 36 years, the NCS has fostered collage as a medium. The goal of the National Collage Society is to cultivate the appreciation and interest in the recognized medium of collage. Collage has only been identified and defined during the twentieth century. NCS advances the stature of collage as a major art medium and assists in the public education through exhibits, workshops, lectures, and publications.

Waterloo Arts invites all artists residing in the US or Canada to submit artwork for the Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition 2020. This is an opportunity for artists to exhibit work in Cleveland, Ohio. As in previous years, the Juried Exhibition will take place in three locations in the Waterloo Arts District: Waterloo Arts Gallery, Praxis Fiber Workshop, and Brick Ceramic + Design.

This is the sixth year Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition has coincided with the Waterloo Arts Fest and the fourth year that accepted work will be exhibited in three different spaces on Waterloo Road. As in past years, Waterloo Arts will also offer a small stipend to all accepted artists to help defray costs associated with entry and shipping.

Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition has featured hundreds of artists from over 40 states and Canada. Over $2,000 in cash will be awarded, including media prizes and a feature article in CAN Journal. Artists will receive exposure during the district’s largest community event, The Waterloo Arts Fest, welcoming more than 5,000 attendees. Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition 2020 will be exhibited in three different spaces on Waterloo Road.

Past jurors include curators and preparators from the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Akron Museum of Art, Canton Art Museum, Kent State University Galleries, Cleveland Museum of Contemporary Art, and Christie’s Auction House.
