Battle of the Brushes 2015 – Call for Artists

Arrowhead Artists and Artisans League –  This annual plein air painting competition is limited to no more than 35 participants. It starts on Wednesday October 24 and ends Friday October 26. Judging take place Saturday October 27th. There are cash prizes.

Call for artists application.

Deadline: 24 Oct 2015.

Participants paint outdoors within a 5 mile radius of the Town of Old Fort North Carolina. Work created during the event will hang for a month in our art gallery in Old Fort. Last year five of the entries were sold. We hold this competition to bring plein air painters to our area. Townspeople and visitors to the area enjoy watching the artists create original works of art in real time.

This year we will have several rooms available in artists’ homes for participants from outside the area. Registration opens on-line July 1st and closes when we reach 35 entrants.

We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the arts in Western North Carolina and to educating the public about the arts and crafts of the region. There are many artists and artisans in our region. We provide them with affordable venues to show and sell their work, and to educate the public about it.

One way we accomplish our mission is through an art gallery, the Arrowhead Gallery and Studios, located in downtown Old Fort, North Carolina. It is one of the largest by size in Western North Carolina. We also hold shows in other venues and host a craft fair, called the Arts Mart, for member artisans, several times during the year.
