Skill-share Workshops: Winter and Spring Residency

Testílsetur Íslands / The Icelandic Textile Center will soon finalize our resident artist placements for a special skill-sharing residency program over the the winter months of December 2015 and February 2016, and the spring months of March, April, May 2016.

Call for artists application

Deadline: 31 Aug 2015

Our program brings together international textile artists that work with both contemporary and traditional methods. We are seeking artists who are interested in developing new work, research, or developments in their practice. We accept applications from emerging, middle career, and established textile artists.

In order to create an environment of skill sharing among our winter and spring residents, we ask applicants to include a proposal for an on-site workshop. The workshop can be anywhere from two hours to a full day in duration, depending on the idea. Artists do not have to have specific teaching experience, but will need a willingness to share and participate.

The Icelandic Textile Center is the best equipped artist residency in Iceland for textile and fiber arts with 3 shared studio facilities, weaving room with looms, dye studio, and general shared studio.

Artists will benefit from cross-pollination of ideas and skills that can enhance their own knowledge of textile arts. There is opportunity to gain experience in giving workshops and new learning from other international artists in residence.

Artist Residency at Willowtail Springs – Call for Artists

In 2014, Durango Arts Center launched a partnership with Willowtail Springs Education Center to support an artists’ residency program for creatives of various mediums living and working in southwest Colorado: La Plata, Archuleta, Montezuma, Dolores and San Juan counties.

Call for artists application

Deadline: 5 Jun 2015

Artists studio and living space at enchanted Willowtail Springs for seven nights, organized at your convenience during 2015. In addition to a private cabin, this residency at Willowtail offers a 600 sq. ft working studio space full of natural light and visibility of the natural surroundings. The studio is nestled in the gardens adjacent to the lake house overlooking the lake, gardens and small pool with fountain.

Artists will also be promoted via the Durango Arts Center website and social media.

The residency award does not cover food, material costs or any stipend.

Since DAC is the only visual and performing arts organization within the Four Corners region, we seek to engage our regional artists and deepen artistic diversity within our surrounding communities.

Conceived with the notion that emerging and established artists require dedicated time and space for inspiration and experimentation of creative work, DAC funds one-week residencies against the backdrop of a private, rural oasis of Willowtail, which was founded and is operated as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) by artist Peggy Cloy and her husband, Lee.
