The Cube Exhibition (Fredericksburg, VA) – Call For Artists

[Sponsored Listing] LibertyTown Arts Workshop in Fredericksburg, VA, announces a call for artists for The Cube, a regional exhibition. LibertyTown wanted to try something a little bit different. They try to come up with concepts that can focus creative energy. This time they thought, what if they gave you all the same exact object and saw what you could do with it. Enter The Cube. The cube is a 4”x4” piece of wood, nothing more, nothing less.

Click here for the application / registration

Deadline: 30 Aug 2021

Fees: A non-refundable material fee must be paid for each cube. Payment may be submitted electronically via the LibertyTown website or by check delivered to LibertyTown.

How do you get your hand on a cube? Follow these simple steps:

  1. Register to get a cube. You will pay a $10 material fee for the cube at registration, and be asked for your email and telephone. This is so LibertyTown can remind you to come and pick up your cube.
  2. Come to LibertyTown starting May 15th and pick up a wooden cube. LibertyTown might have a few extras, so if you fail to register ahead of time, call and check with they and they might be able to get you one. But please register. Please.
  3. Use that cube to make art. You can make the cube into the art, use it to make the art, draw the cube, and/or cut the cube up. LibertyTown has zero restrictions except mayhem and foolishness. Do not harm anyone with the cube or use it for nefarious means. LibertyTown has a particular set of skills. They will find out.
  4. Bring the art you made with the cube/cube made into art into the gallery starting August 27th (see below for a complete list of dates) along with a small explanation of your art. Something like “I burned the cube into charcoal and used it to draw a charcoal drawing.”
  5. Glory in your creativity. Attend the opening in person or virtually. Share the show on social media.

All artists age 16 and older, working in any media, may participate in this show. Work accepted into the show must be for sale. Applications and pieces must be physically submitted at the gallery for jurying. About Contemporary Art Gallery Online

Contemporary Art Gallery Online was founded in 2001 to be the ultimate meeting place for sharing art. Their purpose is to create a platform whereby artists can display and ultimately sell their work. They encourage the exploration of art, discussion of art, and the support of those who create art. Since its inception, CAGO has promoted and sold art on behalf of its member artists. CAGO hosts a juried, monthly art competition. Each month there is a different theme. All participants are then showcased for a month in an online gallery exhibition.

Contemporary Art Gallery Online specializes in the contemporary art form. Contemporary art is defined as artistic work from the present era that uses the current practices and styles of its discipline. Although the words Modern Art and Contemporary Art are used interchangeably, they represent two distinctive moments on the art timeline. Modern Art encompasses the art from the Impressionists (around 1880) up until the 1970’s. Contemporary Art encompasses the art from the 1970’s to present.
