Argyle Fine Art announces a call for artists for the 16th annual Pre-Shrunk Art Show. It’s the biggest “small” show of the year! The much loved annual group show asks artists to create small works on 4”x5” surfaces. Argyle encourages submissions from both established and emerging artists in their preferred mediums and all ages of artists.
Deadline: 4 Jan 2020
Works must be on a 4×5” surface. Pieces that do not measure 4×5” will not be considered. Do not use the thin canvas or masonite boards. They are not easily wall mountable for the buyer and tend not to sell as well as other surfaces in the show. If you are sculpting the base of your sculpture must be 4×5”, but there is no height limit. Artists may submit a maximum of 5 pieces.
Do not attach hanging devices. The gallery will take care of this for continuity. If you are working on paper, it must be archival and mounted on a sturdy 4×5” surface that can be hung on the wall. Works done with materials such as charcoal and pastels must be fixed to protect the work. Submissions must be new and not previously shown.
If the jury selects your work, then you will be notified by phone or email the following week. You will then be required to bring the work in person or by mail. You will be responsible to ship your work.
Pieces that are selected for this year’s exhibition will be priced at $175 each, with standard 50% commission. Keep this price in mind when creating your pieces.

The Santorini Biennale announces a call for artists for Neighbourhood. Neighbourhoods are simultaneously geographic and ideological biotopes, political, social and economic spaces. They are common places without impermeability as different societies and cultures need to interact between them, especially when they are called to solve common problems such as climate change, environmental pollution, urbanization, social inequalities, intolerance, criminality, terrorism, sub-birth or population explosion, economic exploitation, production of poverty, and immigration. Modern diplomacy seems to run a marathon of sovereignty and enforcement rather than a process of normalization of relations between different neighbourhoods, thus interrupting cultural exchange and contributing to the creation of closed and fearful ideological societies around the world.

Santorini Biennale exhibits in 27 cities around the world: Santorini, Beirut, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Detroit, Montreal, Atlanta, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Nairobi, Dakar, Rabat, Algiers, Tunis, Madrid, Paris, Amsterdam, Venice, Berlin, Helsinki, Belgrade, and Izmir.
The Santorini Biennale Neighbourhood exhibit starts 1st June 2019 and ends on 31st July 2021. It will organize:
- 27 main exhibitions,
- 62 parallel events in 27 cites, as well as feature
- 810 artists from all the world,
- 3,500 artworks, and
- 200 university papers related to the artistic theme of Neighbourhood.
All exhibitions will be organized by art curators and supported by local authorities. Every exhibition will run for almost four weeks including all parallel event programs. Each artist or group of artists can participate in up to two exhibitions during the exhibition period (from 01 June 2019 to 31 July 2021) and in the cities chosen during submission process or those suggested by the curators. Venues are spaces of about 500m2 to 1000m2 and have all required exhibition facilities. The complete list of venues and the exhibitions program will be announced by the end of April 2019.
About Santorini Biennale
The Santorini Biennale is the idea of artist, designer, and economist Kyriakos Papadopoulos. It is supported significantly by many Santorinian and foreign entities. The idea for a meeting of artists from around the world in Santorini was born in 2001, when he first began to carefully observe the richness of this dramatic island and became true on 2012.
Santorini Biennale’s mission is to promote artists that are working on the borders between different art disciples, allowing them to surpass the traditional, and perhaps limiting, concepts of classicism, modernism, contemporary, and applied arts.

The Cultural Association Tambuca announces a call for artists for Pescatori di Porte. a painting competition designed to decorate the fishermen’s gates behind the new Fish Market in Viareggio, Tuscany. The decorations will be planned for the spring 2019. It is a permanent exhibition in the open air, a gift to the sea and its keepers. The theme is: A portal in the belly of Viareggio.

The aim of Pescatori Di Porte is redeveloping an area of the port of Viareggio adjacent to the new fish market while promoting contemporary art. The area in question is that of the sheet metal warehouses of the Cittadella dei Pescatori that lead to the port. Specifically, the corrugated metal warehouses overhead doors.
The competition is open to artists age of 16 and older. The participation of under 18 artists is bound to the authorization of those who exercise parental authority. In particular, the competition is aimed at artistic high schools and fine arts academies of the territory and independent artists.
The jury is composed of 14 members among artists, curators and personalities known in the Tuscan territory. The fundamental criteria for selection will be quality, research, originality, and contemporaneity as well as the creativity of the artwork proposed and consistency with the proposed theme. There will be no limitations of technique or style, as long as it’s a work of painting as faithful as possible to the result of the realization on the sheet metal door. Pictorial work means any use or manual intervention with oil, tempera, acrylic, industrial paint, ink, engraving, graphite, watercolor, or vinyl on any type of substrate. Even if pre-printed, the concept must be reproduced in a faithful way with enamel brush on corrugated metal support. The size of each work must be 50 x 60 cm in horizontal orientation.
Pescatori Di Porte Artist Benefits
For the year 2019, 7 of 35 gates will be decorated. The competition includes the selection of 30 finalist artworks. They will be exhibited in a group exhibition at Villa Paolina, Viareggio (Tuscany). Six winners will have the opportunity to realize their decoration on the doors of the fishermen’s warehouses. The winners will be entitled to one week of free accommodation and published in the catalog.

The Clark Hulings Fund for Visual Artists (CHF) is a 501(c)(3). CHF supports visual artists like Clark Hulings, a nationally acclaimed American painter who embarked on his career when he was 40 years old, abandoning a thriving profession as a commercial illustrator to (in his words) teach himself to be a gallery painter. He was fortunate that he could finance this transition himself with savings from his illustration work.
Hulings believed that artistic development can and should occur continually. He never stopped trying to become a better artist, honing his craft until he was well into his 80s. He understood that no matter how great the talent or strong the discipline, the door to success swings on financial pegs. The Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce announces a call for artists for the Riverwalk Festival 2018, to be held along the Flat River Riverwalk in Downtown Historic Lowell, MI. The focus is on handmade, re-purposed, found, organic, natural, sustainable, and eco-friendly art. The show is a gathering of 70 artists and craftspeople. The festival is a crowd-pleaser which draws in thousands of people from around the area. This a family friendly event with many fun activities.

South Haven Center for the Arts announces a call for artists for Just Drawing, their 8th Annual Regional Juried Exhibition.

Drawing can be defined as the arrangement of line and mark in space designed to serve a variety of expressive purposes. It is often used as a preliminary step in service of other mediums. This exhibition will feature drawing as the main act. 2-D and 3-D work is acceptable as long as drawing is the main feature.
This call is open to all artists 18 years of age or over in the following states: Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin. All work must be the original work of the artist and completed in the last three years.
The Just Drawing Exhibition will be juried by local artists Lou and Linda Rizzolo.
Lou trained as an artist at Western Michigan, the University of Iowa, and the University of Georgia. He is a significant presence on the world artistic stage. He has taught, lectured, and exhibited internationally for over forty years. His works, which ranges from drawing to multimedia installations, have captured audiences in the U.S. Canada, Scotland, Switzerland, Hawaii, Austria, France, Norway, Australia and Albania. Lou has participated in ArtPrize for several years.
Linda Rizzolo takes painting to a higher plane by working with fibers, beads, and natural objects such as reeds, sticks, brightly colored hand-painted silks, and a variety of other three-dimensional materials. She transforms them into unique and exciting sculptural creations. Of her work, Linda says, “I love fantasy, costumes, twirling, parades and flowing fabric. This free spirited, spontaneous way of experiencing life has influenced the kind of art I love to make and my process of making it.”
Just Drawing Artist Benefits
Work that is accepted into Just Drawing by the jurors will be on display at the South Haven Center for the Arts from September 23 through November 11, 2017. The exhibition will include an opening reception. All artists and friends will be invited attend. Three winners will be chosen by the jurors with a First Prize of $150, Second Prize of $100, and third Prize of $50. Exhibited work may be sold at the price specified on the entry form. A commission of 35% is received by the South Haven Center for the Center for works sold during the exhibition.

South Haven Center for the Arts (SHCA) is the primary arts non-profit in the greater South Haven area. The South Haven Center for the Arts originated in 1951 as the South Haven Art League and has a long-standing tradition of providing South Haven and surrounding communities a venue to learn about and participate in the visual arts.
