Here Comes The Sun (Sarasota, FL) – Call For Artists

[Sponsored Listing] Art Center Sarasota announces a call for artists for “Here Comes the Sun,” a juried exhibition showcasing the wide-ranging talents of regional artists, July 23-August 20. An opening reception will take place on Friday, July 23, 6-8 p.m. The juror is Tampa-based artist and first-place recipient of the Kennedy Center’s 2020 VSA Emerging Artists Award, Savannah Magnolia.

All artworks for Here Comes the Sun will only be submitted online for jurying. This exhibition is open to all regional artists to showcase their work at Art Center Sarasota (ACS). This show is open to all media types.

Juror will see all requested information except the artist’s name. ACS Exhibition Committee asks jurors to make all selections based solely on artistic merit. Awards will be chosen by the juror in person when all works are onsite and installed at Art Center Sarasota. Art Center Sarasota is located at 707 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.

Five Awards are given per show: First, Second, and Third Place plus two Merit Awards and four Special Awards. First place winner receives $800, Second Place $600, Third Place $400, each Merit Award $100 and each Special Award $50. All winners are required to fill out a W9 form prior to receiving a cash prize.

About Art Center Sarasota

Art Center Sarasota was the first arts and cultural institution in Sarasota, FL. It was founded in 1926 as the “Sarasota Art Association” by Marcia Rader, the art supervisor for the Sarasota County schools district. In the early years, the group met monthly and sponsored exhibits in rented facilities. The Association was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1943. It has been in its current location in the Sarasota Bayfront Cultural District since 1949.

Art Center Sarasota is a member-supported organization that offers curated and juried exhibitions, adult and youth education programs, outreach initiatives for underserved youth, and culturally related public programming. It is admission-free and open to all public. Its mission is to inspire individual creative expression, nurture artistic talent, and provide the community with accessible and diverse visual art opportunities.

Sculpture Celebration (Lenoir, NC) – Call For Artists

[Sponsored Listing] Caldwell Arts Council announces a call for artists for the 35th Annual Sculpture Celebration. Sculptors – bring 3 pieces to enter this annual competition for $11,000 in cash awards, judged this year by Elizabeth Brim. Additional opportunity for participants to have works considered for a one-year installation in the Western NC Sculpture Center and Park sales gallery. Early registration discounts available.

This one-day event runs 9am-4pm with all awards announced at 3:30pm. Live music will fill the lovely lakeside Broyhill Walking Park for the day, with free shuttles to area parking for visitors who come from as far as Florida and New York.

This event provides opportunities for both sales and commissions in addition to the competition awards. Best of Show award is $3,000, First Place is $2,000, Second Place is $1,500, and Third Place is $1,000. There are five $500 Judge’s Merit awards, five $100 Honorable Mention awards, and the People’s Choice award of $500. Typically between 2,000-4,000 attendees come, and Caldwell Arts Council actively seeks sculpture art buyers to attend.

Sculptors from the eastern United States, from as far away as Vermont and Florida, Indiana, and Texas have participated in the past. As this has been a long-running event, it is a good opportunity for new and upcoming sculptors.

About Caldwell Arts Council

The Caldwell Arts Council has promoted and presented high quality arts in Caldwell County North Carolina since 1976. It is their mission to establish and maintain an awareness and appreciation of cultural arts in their community by encouraging participation in arts events. They offer various educational opportunities and administrative services that support artists, arts agencies, and audiences.

Caldwell Arts Council owns a permanent sculpture collection of over 80 pieces. One of the largest collections for a town of its size in the United States. These indoor and outdoor artworks are displayed all over Caldwell County and are periodically moved to new locations. In addition, the Arts Council exhibits sculptures along the streets of downtown Lenoir in Tucker’s Gallery, which is a partnership with the City of Lenoir. These pieces are on loan from artists for up to one year. Most are available for sale.

The annual Sculpture Celebration offers the public a unique opportunity to view hundreds of sculptures created by artisans from across the United States. This event occurs on the Saturday after Labor Day in the beautiful Broyhill Walking Park.

About Musée de peinture de Saint-Frajou

The international Art Resilience exhibition is related to the art movement Art Resilience founded by Ksenia Milicevic in 2014. The exhibition is sponsored by Art Museum of Saint-Frajou, France.
This museum presents a permanent collection constituted by paintings, sculpture, and drawings. In different periods of the year, the museum can welcome temporary exhibitions of paintings and sculptures. These temporary exhibitions allow various artists to expose their works to the public. The museum organizes CinéArt, conferences, and painting and drawing classes for adults and children.
