2021 Biennale National Juried Exhibition (Hilton Head Island, SC) – Call For Artists

[Sponsored Listing] Art League of Hilton Head invites artists to enter the 2021 Biennale, its 27th National Juried Exhibition, held every other year across multiple media types. Categories include oil, acrylic, pastel, watermedia, photography, mixed media, three-dimensional, and all other. All work must be original and completed within the last three years.

All accepted works of art selected by three jurors will be on display at Art League Gallery in the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The state of the art Art League Gallery provides the finest exhibit space with high tourist and community visibility. Art League of Hilton Head offers a unique audience for artists, with culturally engaged resident and tourist populations. The gallery is located in the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, an independent regional theater with professional performing arts.

Over $5000 in cash prizes will be awarded. Prize winners will be chosen by 2021 Biennale judge Marc Hanson.

Nationally known, award-winning artist Marc Hanson is a Master Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America (O.P.A.M.), having won numerous awards of excellence throughout his career. He has been published and featured in national art publications including on the covers of Plein Air and Southwest Art Magazine, and in the book ‘Oil Painting Secrets With The Masters,’ by Cindy Salaski. His work has been shown in museums and galleries throughout the United States and abroad.

The 2021 Biennale exhibition will be free and open to the public from May 4 – 26, 2021. An opening reception and awards ceremony will take place on Friday, May 7, from 5-7pm.

All works of art will be for sale, with 60% of the gallery price going to the artist. The Biennale has historically had very positive sales results.

Art League of Hilton Head is the only 501 (c) (3) nonprofit visual arts organization on Hilton Head Island with a synergistic Art Gallery and teaching Academy. Mauldin Public Art Trail 2019 – Call For Artists

The City of Mauldin and the Mauldin Cultural Council in Mauldin, SC invite all South Carolina based visual artists, working solo or as a team, to submit proposals for the Mauldin Public Art Trail 2019. The selected artist will create a work in any medium that reflects the specific theme “Youth: Passion for Change.” Experiential or participatory components are permitted. The outcome will include one complete art work made ready for public presentation for a minimum of ten (10) years at the Mauldin Cultural Center around the outdoor amphitheater.

The Mauldin Public Art Trail 2019 artist must be a resident of the state of South Carolina during the duration of the project. Non-resident students enrolled in collegiate programs at South Carolina universities/colleges are not eligible.

For Artist Teams, all members must qualify under these residency guidelines. Artists must demonstrate experience in public art projects and have experience with creating public art works with lifespans of ten years or more. Artists working in any medium are welcome; however, the work must withstand seasonal change over ten years, public interaction, and be self-sufficient.

Mauldin Public Art Trail 2019 Artist Benefits

  • The maximum budget for the project is $15,000 – inclusive of all artist fees, materials, travel, and construction.
  • Artist will be honored with an unveiling ceremony and a ribbon cutting that is open to the public. Media and local officials are invited to this ceremony.
  • The artist and his/her piece will be shared with local media and via the City and Cultural Center’s social media accounts.
  • The work of the artist will visible on the Cultural Center’s website as long as the piece remains standing along the trail.
  • The artist will receive a plaque next to the installation detailing the artist’s statement and/or process.

About Mauldin Cultural Center

The Mauldin Cultural Center (MCC) was created to establish, develop, and promote a cultural system that celebrates the Mauldin community, leverages the arts for the economic benefit of the City and its citizens, and strives to give all citizens and visitors the ability to experience and participate in artistic and cultural activities in an effort to continually develop a more vibrant community.

The Mauldin Cultural Center is the product of community partners with the vision of developing a cultural center for the City of Mauldin. Originally Mauldin High School, and later Mauldin Elementary School, the building was constructed in 1937 as a WPA Project and has since seen a few minor updates as the schools grew. In 2003, the City of Mauldin began the process of purchasing the 14 acre property as the first step toward creating a City Center.

Currently, MCC hosts almost 30,000 people annually. They offer a wide-range of arts education classes, live concerts, theater performances, comedy, art exhibits, a public art trail, and community events.

Mauldin Public Art Trail 2018 – Call For Artists

The selected artist/team will create work that reflects the specific theme “Industry of the Upstate.” The maximum budget for the project is $15,000 – inclusive of all artist fees, materials, travel, and construction.

The Public Art Trail lines the perimeter of the outdoor amphitheater at the Mauldin Cultural Center. A new work will be commissioned each year to fill the nine (9) pre-approved sites along the perimeter. All nine sites will be filled within ten years. For each year after the first ten years, the oldest installation will be replaced. This will result in a new slate of nine pieces of artwork every ten years. Retired artworks will be relocated to other areas around the community.

The Mauldin Public Art Trail 2018 theme “Industry of the Upstate” was selected to recognize the ever-changing face of industry within the Upstate. From the mills and textiles of the past to the small businesses and large corporations of today, industry plays an integral role in the economic opportunity and prosperity of the region.

Mauldin Public Art Trail 2018 Artist Benefits

The outcome will include one complete art work made ready for public presentation. It will be installed at the Mauldin Cultural Center around the outdoor amphitheater. Artist must be available for a public unveiling, related press events, and marketing development. The artist will be responsible for documenting work on the project from conception to installation. Documentation could be in the form of video, artist’s book, print materials, selected objects created/exhibited as a part of the project, or other appropriate documentation agreed upon. The City of Mauldin will document the progress of the project through similar means.

The Mauldin Public Art Trail 2018 artist will receive $15,000 to complete the project. The artist’s work will remain on display along the Mauldin Public Art Trail for ten (10) years. It will feature a plaque featuring the artist’s statement. The artist statement, bio, and links to his/her portfolio will be included on the trail website. The artist will be recognized at a public ceremony where the piece will be unveiled. The media and general members of the public are invited to the ceremony. The artist will be allowed to speak about the piece and process and take time for Q & A.

About the City of Mauldin

The City of Mauldin’s Office of Cultural Affairs created the Mauldin Public Art Trail in December 2014. This program seeks to beautify the community with public art displays created by South Carolina artists.

The City constructed the Mauldin Sports Center as the first phase of this initiative on the property and then turned attention to the old school building, developing it into the Mauldin Cultural Center. A city-owned property, MCC is managed under the Office of Cultural Affairs, which continually works to improve and renovate the building and surrounding grounds.

Currently, MCC hosts almost 30,000 people and more than 1,000 events annually. They offer a wide-range of arts education classes, live concerts, theater performances, comedy, art exhibits, a public art trail, and other community events.

The Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery is reviewing applications for five solo exhibition opportunities for the 2018/19 season.

Notifications for the solo exhibition opportunities will be sent out by early January.

Five artists will be chosen to exhibit at Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery at Coker College in Hartsville, South Carolina. Gallery will provide $300 towards shipping or delivering of artwork, $200 for a gallery talk and/or workshop, and $100 to the artist chosen to judge the annual student competition. The five artists chosen to exhibit will be featured on the gallery’s website and Facebook page. Artists receive 25 color copies of a student designed poster. The poster will be used for advertising around campus and on the website. Accommodations for traveling artists can be provided upon request of the artist.

CREATE! Conway announces a call for artists for Indie Market On Laurel. The event features bands and music all day plus art and local goods for sale.

Indie Market On Laurel best artisan booth display will receive $100 and three hours of marketing consultation from our marketing team.

Our experienced marketing team will advertise the Indie Market on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and various websites including the Myrtle Beach Visitors web page and Myrtle Beach billboards.

Conway is located fifteen miles from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the #1 beach vacation destination on the East Coast. Conway is located on the Waccamaw River. The location for this year’s Indie Market is right at the entrance to the Riverwalk and the Marina.

The Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery is reviewing applications for five solo exhibitions for the 2017/18 season.

Gallery provides $300 towards shipping and $200 for a gallery talk. The artist chosen to judge the Annual Student Competition will receive an extra $100.

The Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery is a non-profit gallery who exhibits five visiting artists each year along with a student competition judged by one of the visiting artists. We also have a Staff and Faculty exhibition and an Annual Student Summer Show.
