Reflections (Online Photography Competition) – Call For Artists

[Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] The New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA) announces a call for artists for Reflections, an online photography competition.

As our life experiences mature, reflections become so much more than a copy of our own image. Virtually everything can be placed near a reflective surface and, as if by magic, you get to see two, or three and the possibilities are endless. From a skyline reflected in a park lake, to the flash of sunlight reflected on a steel pipe, pedestrians in a department store window, and waves of sunlight reflected off the ocean that show as playful lines on a child’s face.

This call is about all types of reflections. Images can show both an object/person/animal and its reflection, or it can be one with just the reflection, and that reflection can be a clear copy or distorted with ripples, oil deposits, or curved glass. As with all NYC4PA calls, all 2D photographic images are welcome.

NYC4PA offers opportunities to participate in themed calls for photographers. Each call has a different theme and 50 images win. The prizes total $4,000. Abandon / Abandoned (Online Photography Competition) – Call For Artists

Abandon / Abandoned (Online Photography Competition) – Call For Artists

[Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] The New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA) announces a call for artists for Abandon / Abandoned, an online photography competition.

What comes to mind when you hear these two words? Though they have the same root, the meanings can be quite far apart. Is your first thought about things abandoned – like that empty building in the tenement section of town that has been left to the elements with broken windows and peeling paint, or is it the person abandoned by a family who needed to move to another location.

There is also the sense of “abandon” – that free-wheeling person, dancing or jumping for joy with arms stretched out, or the child on a playground ride like a see saw with hands in the air and sheer glee on his/her face.

The Abandon / Abandoned artist call is about those images that depict either interpretation. The field is far and wide and the choice is yours. Send your best and, as always, all 2D photography is welcome.

[Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] ArtSeen announces a call for artists to display your artwork on billboards during Berlin Art Week. Skip the expense of a traditional booth. ArtSeen offers you a massive platform: your art displayed on high-impact digital billboards across Berlin during the city’s most important art event (September 10 – 14, 2025).

Berlin Art Week: Artist Benefits

  • The Right Audience: During Berlin Art Week, the city is filled with exactly the people artists need to reach: international collectors, curators, gallery owners, art critics, and dedicated art lovers. These individuals are actively seeking new talent and contemporary art.
  • High-Impact Visibility: A digital billboard is a dynamic and unmissable format. It’s far more impactful than a small image in a magazine or a post in a crowded social media feed. It places the art in the public realm, demanding attention.
  • Broad Public Reach: Beyond the art world professionals, the work will be seen by thousands of residents and tourists, dramatically increasing the artist’s name recognition.

About ArtSeen

ArtSeen is interesting because they directly address one of the biggest challenges in the contemporary art world: access. For decades, the path to gaining recognition has been controlled by a handful of expensive and exclusive systems, primarily the traditional art fair. Here’s what makes ArtSeen interesting and innovative:

  • Democratise High-Stakes Visibility: The traditional art world often runs on who you know and how much you can afford to spend. A booth at a major art fair can cost an artist or gallery thousands, or even tens of thousands, of pounds. By using digital billboards, ArtSeen offers artists a high-impact presence at these same crucial events for a tiny fraction of the cost. It shifts the focus from an artist’s financial resources to the strength of their work.
  • Turn the City Itself into a Gallery: ArtSeen believes art shouldn’t be confined to the quiet, and sometimes intimidating, white walls of a gallery. By placing art on public digital screens, we create unexpected, powerful encounters with creativity in the urban landscape. This takes art to the people, not the other way around. A collector walking to a meeting, a curator on their way to a fair, or a member of the public on their daily commute can be stopped in their tracks by a piece of art. It makes art a dynamic and integrated part of city life.
  • Bridge the Digital and Physical Worlds for Artists: Artists today have a global digital reach through social media, but struggle to create a physical impact in international art capitals. ArtSeen provides that physical footprint without the logistical nightmare. An artist in Manchester, Kyoto, or Buenos Aires can have a monumental, tangible presence in Berlin during its most important art week, all without shipping a single piece of work. We use technology to break down geographical barriers.
