Second Annual Shimmer: The Art of Light, a free one-night event in North Carolina, is seeking proposals for art installations, video projection, and performance art using light as a medium.

Each artist chosen by our jury to participate will receive a $300 honorarium, be featured on the Shimmer website and smArts creative programs and events Facebook page, and have the potential for additional press attention via publicity efforts.
Shimmer: The Art of Light is one of only two events of its kind in the entire Southeastern US. It focuses on creating an artistic bridge between two adjoining municipalities and fills a seven-block area on their borders with light, sound, and movement.

National and international artists working across all media and disciplines are invited to submit project proposals for Shimmer: The Art of Light, a one-night, free, public event of light-based art and performance spanning the towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro, North Carolina.

Participating artists will receive a $300 honorarium per project (one honorarium per project to be shared among project collaborators.
SHIMMER will feature approximately 20 illuminated art installations and sculpture, light projections and performances, and illuminated programmatic components in both indoor and outdoor spaces. Projects will be situated throughout a two-square-block downtown area where the towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro meet, transforming the area into a de facto art gallery as the sun sets.
