Lubeznik Arts Festival 2019 – Call For Artists

Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) seeks fine artists and fine crafters for the Lubeznik Arts Festival 2019 (LAF) on August 17th and 18th in Michigan City, Indiana. This popular festival is currently in its 38th year. Exhibitor categories include 2-D art, fine craft, jewelry, photography, sculptural objects, and wearable art. LAF takes place on LCA’s grounds to connect festival-goers to dynamic programming and exhibitions.

LCA selects individual fine artists and fine crafters through a jury process. Additionally, LCA’s galleries will be available for use by regional galleries that represent the best in emerging contemporary art. LCA anticipates 75 to 100 exhibitors in total.

Lubeznik Arts Festival 2019 Artist Benefits

LAF is extensively marketed via social media, radio, TV, print, and promotional signage. This year’s festival will take place during LCA’s summer blockbuster exhibition, “The Chicago Imagists: Before and After.”

$3,000 in cash awards will be distributed between:

  • Best in Show
  • 1st Place Artist
  • 1st Place Artisan
  • Neil Kienitz Award for Representational Art
  • Juror’s Awards (2)

Amenities for exhibitors include:

  • Parking – Designated parking areas for artists are located adjacent to LCA property.
  • Hospitality – Complimentary water and snacks are provided during Friday setup and throughout the festival.
  • Indoor restrooms will be accessible during setup and festival hours, in addition to portable restrooms outside.
  • Security – Off-duty police officers will be onsite both Friday and Saturday nights.
  • Booth Sitters – Volunteers will be available Saturday and Sunday to provide short relief breaks for exhibitors.
  • Art purchase pick-up service is available for patrons at Office Trailer/Entrance.

Lubeznik Art And Artisan Festival 2017 – Call For Artists

Lubeznik Center for the Arts announces a call for artists for the Lubeznik Art And Artisan Festival 2017. A non-refundable application fee of $35 is required.

Deadline: 10 Mar 2017

Jurors will review work  April 1 – April 15, 2017. Artists will be notified of their acceptance by April 30, 2017. Artists who are on the wait list will be notified as openings become available.

Artist categories include:

  • 2-dimensional art (painting, drawing, printmaking, pastels, mixed-media)
  • Photography (traditional and digital techniques)
  • Sculptural objects (non-functional, all media)

Artisan categories include:

  • Fine craft (functional, clay/ceramics, glass, wood, metal, textile)
  • Wearable art (wearable, accessories, and jewelry)

The mission of the Lubeznik Art and Artisan Festival 2017 (LAAF) is to celebrate and foster the appreciation of a dynamic array of contemporary artists and artisans through the exhibition and sale of contemporary art in a festival setting. Now in its 36th year, Lubeznik Center for the Arts’ (LCA) LAAF attracts thousands of shoppers and art enthusiasts to Michigan City’s North End. Held on the third weekend in August, this festival features contemporary art, artist activations, beer, wine, and food. It draws repeat visitors from Chicago, South Bend, and Northwest Indiana as well as Michigan’s nearby Harbor Country communities. Patrons to the festival include second home-owners in the nearby beach communities.

The festival is held on the LCA grounds in order to immerse festival-goers in the LCA experience and help visitors connect with our mission more effectively. The festival is overseen by arts professionals with friendly and helpful staff and volunteers who are committed to making it a success. The budget to market the event through partnerships that span radio, TV, print, and outdoor media is over $30,000. All proceeds from LAAF are invested back into the Michigan City Community through artistic and educational programs LCA provides year-round.
