Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) seeks fine artists and fine crafters for the Lubeznik Arts Festival 2019 (LAF) on August 17th and 18th in Michigan City, Indiana. This popular festival is currently in its 38th year. Exhibitor categories include 2-D art, fine craft, jewelry, photography, sculptural objects, and wearable art. LAF takes place on LCA’s grounds to connect festival-goers to dynamic programming and exhibitions.

LCA selects individual fine artists and fine crafters through a jury process. Additionally, LCA’s galleries will be available for use by regional galleries that represent the best in emerging contemporary art. LCA anticipates 75 to 100 exhibitors in total.

Lubeznik Arts Festival 2019 Artist Benefits

LAF is extensively marketed via social media, radio, TV, print, and promotional signage. This year’s festival will take place during LCA’s summer blockbuster exhibition, “The Chicago Imagists: Before and After.”

$3,000 in cash awards will be distributed between:

  • Best in Show
  • 1st Place Artist
  • 1st Place Artisan
  • Neil Kienitz Award for Representational Art
  • Juror’s Awards (2)

Amenities for exhibitors include:

  • Parking – Designated parking areas for artists are located adjacent to LCA property.
  • Hospitality – Complimentary water and snacks are provided during Friday setup and throughout the festival.
  • Indoor restrooms will be accessible during setup and festival hours, in addition to portable restrooms outside.
  • Security – Off-duty police officers will be onsite both Friday and Saturday nights.
  • Booth Sitters – Volunteers will be available Saturday and Sunday to provide short relief breaks for exhibitors.
  • Art purchase pick-up service is available for patrons at Office Trailer/Entrance.

In 2018, Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) is celebrating the 37th year of its annual art festival, Lubeznik Arts Festival 2018, on August 18 and 19. The festival, previously held off-site, is now held on LCA’s grounds to connect festival-goers to gallery spaces, experience the stature of exhibitions, and connect with programs more effectively. All proceeds from LAF are invested back into the community through artistic and educational programs LCA provides year-round.

Lubeznik Center for the Arts will select individual fine artists and fine crafters through a jury process. There is $3,000 in cash awards. Additionally, LCA will be inviting regional galleries who represent the best in emerging contemporary art. Overall, LCA anticipates 75-100 exhibitors. The festival draws repeat visitors from Chicago, South Bend, and Northwest Indiana, as well as Michigan’s nearby ‘Harbor Country’ communities. Patrons to the festival include second home-owners in the nearby beach communities.

The juror for this year’s festival is Aron Packer of Aron Packer Projects. Starting in the late 80’s as an American folk art dealer, Aron Packer built his early business focusing on outsider and non-traditional art. He became known for a broad yet unusual vision. He transitioned this vision to contemporary art and established his first public gallery in 1992 in Chicago. For the next 25 years, Packer continued to expand his notable group of contemporary artists. In 2015, he closed Packer Schopf Gallery in Chicago to work at Leslie Hindman Auctioneers in business development for fine art sales. Packer continues to avidly curate pop-up shows throughout Chicago as Aron Packer Projects.

Additionally, 2018 award winners will be exempt from jury process in 2019. They will not have to pay the 2019 application fee. Complimentary snacks and water are available through setup and the festival. Over $30,000 is budgeted to market the event through partnerships that span radio, TV, print, and outdoor media.
