Las Laguna Gallery announces a call for artists for Portraits 2020. Open to all mediums, levels of experience, and locations. The human face is an endlessly fascinating subject. A portrait is painting, drawing, photograph, or an artist representation of a person with a particular focus on the face.

Submission Fee: $35 (non-refundable) for up to 3 images
For this art call, Las Laguna Gallery is looking for paintings, drawings, or photographs that capture personality, character, expression, spirit, or mood. What story will you convey with your portrait? How will you engage the viewer with your subject? What colors, composition, or lighting will you use to communicate a story? Will your portrait speak and engage the viewer? Will your viewer be drawn into your work?
The main focus should be on the face. Your portrait can be a friend, family member, stranger, or yourself. The work must be able to be hung on a wall to be considered. Sizes up to 4 feet are acceptable. No work that requires special installation or instructions will be accepted.

All artists who submit to this show will be accepted and have at least one of their submitted works posted on the Las Laguna Gallery website. A select number of artists will send their work into the gallery for the in person exhibition at our brick and mortar gallery located in Laguna Beach, CA. The gallery is open to the public. Clients and guests are invited to visit as long as they have proper PPE.

Contemporary Art Gallery Online announces a call for artists for Figurative / Portrait. Entries welcome from 2D and 3D artists regardless of their experience or education in the art field. A group exhibition of all entrants will be held online from September 9th, 2020 to October 7th, 2020.
Artists should submit their best representational and non-representational art. This competition will be judged on painting and drawing, photography and digital, and mixed media and 3D art.
Deadline: 6 Sept 2020
Figurative / Portrait Entry Fee: $15 for up to three images and $25 for up to five images. Funds in US Dollars.
All work must belong to the person submitting the application. The art or a print of the original and must be available for sale. The artist must be at least 18 years old.
Awards will be given for the top 5 to 8 works selected. Winners will be announced on September 21, 2020. Prizes include memberships to Contemporary Art Gallery Online, extensive marketing, Winner’s Certificates, inclusion in the annual Anthology Publication, and event collateral.

uBe Art announces a call for artists for In My Absence, an exhibition devoted to portraits.

Often portraits convey the impression the artist believes, hopes, or fears they leave on those around them. It may convey something unspoken or simply be a visual feast for beauty sake. It may hint at something as did the Mona Lisa.
Whether submitting a self portrait or portraying another, uBe Art wants to see something revealed or, at least, a hint at what lies beneath, In My Absence.
We are committed to encouraging and supporting the livelihood of our artists. Delivering a higher than average percentage on sales –60% to artists–is one aspect of the artist-gallery relationship we are in the process of designing.
uBe Art’s jury panel will choose individual pieces based on technical application, originality, and concept. Our panel of professional working artists, gallery curators, advertising agents, and editors are a diverse representation of all mediums.
Artwork selected for this show will be on display in a seven-week exhibition at uBe Art in Berkeley, California, located just twelve miles east of San Francisco. The gallery is a beautiful, light filled space with 25 ft ceilings attracting artists, visitors, and collectors from around the Bay Area.

Las Laguna Gallery announces a call for artists for How I Identify – Myself. For this call for art we are looking for artworks that explore the complexity of the human spirit, mind, and body.

What are the things that make you unique? What things make you stand apart from others? How would you describe yourself and how might others describe you? Is human-kind transforming? Do you identify yourself by gender, race, nationality, religion, or sexual orientation? Is your personality your identity? Can it be changed or is it hardwired?
These are just of few of the ideas we are looking for artists to explore.
Chosen artists will have their works displayed in the Las Laguna Gallery from March 3 to March 26, 2016.
