[Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center invites emerging and established artists to submit original artworks to Metamorphosis: Recycled, Repurposed, Reimagined. This exhibition seeks to inspire environmentally sustainable artmaking through found objects, creative reuse, and upcycled art. By repurposing by-products, waste materials, or unwanted objects and transforming them into something with more perceived and artistic value, artists explore environmental themes, engage in social commentary, and implore a call to action or infuse realism, emotion, or humor in their work.
Artwork in this juried show is meant to be eye-opening, engaging, thought-provoking, inspiring, poetic, and sometimes playful and optimistic. How are contemporary artists engaging with objects in a world overrun with too much stuff?

Artwork for Metamorphosis: Recycled, Repurposed, Reimagined must include a repurposed material as a primary medium. 2-D and 3-D artwork will be considered. Outdoor artwork is welcome. All artwork must be created within the last four years. Artists must be 18 years or older. This exhibition will be open to the public in the Kay Daugherty Gallery of Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center from February 9 to April 21, 2024.

Short-term paid residencies are available to artists accepted into the Metamorphosis show for this unique outdoor eco-art festival. Details about this additional opportunity will be sent upon acceptance into this gallery show.
For artists shipping works from outside the region, transportation grants are available through the Artist Accessibility Fund to help with shipping cost. Grants typically range from $75 to $200 and are awarded on a need basis. The Artist Accessibility Fund was established in loving memory of Southern Maryland artist Michael Tomassoni. The Foundation employes the staff of Annmarie, and seeks out grants and donations to support the payroll budget and fund special projects at Annmarie. The many activities and programs of Annmarie are supported by Ann’s Circle, a 501 c 3 non-profit organization whose board consists of residents drawn from the Southern Maryland community. [Sponsored Listing] The Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC) announces a call for artists for Recycle 2021, a national juried show of art crafted from cast‐off, discarded, and re‐purposed materials and celebration of ingenuity and imagination.
BWAC is seeking to exhibit sophisticated two‐ and three‐ dimensional art created in the re‐use genre. The juror is John Cloud Daiser, Director of Education from Materials of the Arts.

As well as looking for skill in the use of material, BWAC wants to see art that demonstrates the importance of conserving limited natural resources. They will be looking for how well the medium relates to the upcycling movement and how fully the artist’s intention or concept is presented and realized. The Recycle juror’s awards will reflect that artistic judgment.

BWAC’s 8,000 square foot gallery is in a Civil War-era warehouse on the Red Hook waterfront. The vista of New York Harbor, spanning the Statue of Liberty to the Verrazano Bridge, is one of the best in the city. Gallery-goers enjoy the nearby restaurants, bars, IKEA, and Fairway Market.
For over 20 years, BWAC has provided support for musicians and performers, offering performance based opportunities to participate as a major feature of opening receptions and specially themed exhibitions. Performances complement ongoing programming. The art exhibitions and performances are free and open to the public.
