CWB Events announces a call for artists for the Reno Art Fest 2019, to be held in downtown Reno on July 12-14 as part of the month long celebration of art in Reno (Artown). This event will feature numerous artists whose original work of 2 and 3 dimensional fine art, acrylics, oil and watercolor paintings, photography, ceramics, jewelry, glass, stone and metal sculptures, and wood and clay pieces.

Situated on North Virginia Street between 4th and 6th streets in Reno, the event will be open on Friday 4 – 8 pm, Saturday from 10 am till 8 pm, and Sunday from 10 am till 5 pm. Admission and parking are free to the public. A variety of local food trucks and wine and beer concession will be available.
This event is open to all media of original fine art and fine craft. All work will be juried. Categories will be limited. Only original hand-made works are accepted. Commercially or mass-produced items are not eligible. There will be no buy/sell items in the show. Participants must provide their own display. If used, canopy must be white. It will be securely attached to the ground in case of unexpected high winds.
Booth fees are $125.00 for a 10’ x 10’ or $200.00 for 10’ x 20’ space, corners (if available) are an additional $25, plus 10% commission on all sales.
Submit four images of your work, one image of your display, and a current biography. If accepted, give permission for photos and biography to be used for publicity. Confirmation status will be sent via email.

The Holland Project Gallery is excited to be putting together a zine show exhibition this December. They are interested in showcasing all types and genres of zines. Open to zines created by veteran zine makers, artists, writers and activists as well as those created by up and comers new to zine making.

The zine show exhibition will take place in the Holland Project Gallery, located at 140 Vesta St, Reno, NV, from December 12 – 29, 2017.
Artists will benefit by having their work exhibited professionally in a contemporary gallery space among other highly skilled and talented artists. Artists will have the opportunity to sell their work in the gallery during the run of the exhibition. They will be included on the Holland Project’s artist registry for inclusion in future exhibitions and zine based events. In addition to this exhibition, the Holland Project will host a Zine Fair this summer (June 2018). Any artists who participate in the zine show exhibit this December will be first on the list to receive news and a vendor invitation for the Zine Fair.

The City of Reno Public Art announces a call for artists for a public art project which creates new artwork for Virginia Lake Park.

The project is open to artists in the regional area encompassing Nevada and Northern California with experience in public art projects.
An abundance of public art opportunities are available for the artist’s consideration. There are:
- 33 light poles around the lake,
- 5 planted areas between the walking path and the street that provide good visibility for artwork,
- the pathway itself or the path route that could be enhanced through sculpture and artwork,
- bench locations around the lake and in the south garden area provide open viewing areas, as well as
- the connected dog park.
The purpose of the project is to increase public awareness of art, broaden viewer’s perspective of public spaces within the city, and foster a sense of place in city parks. The artist(s) selected should have demonstrated experience working in public locations subject to vandalism. Artwork will be selected based on the quality of design and lack of routine maintenance. Proposals should consider aesthetically pleasing use of color and form as well as relate well to the surrounding environments in which they will be placed. Artists are expected to provide manufacturer’s specifications on chosen materials with proposal. Materials, colors used, and design will be at the approval of the City of Reno.
Selected artist(s) will design and execute one or more artworks for Virginia Lake Park which may or may not be themed based on the history of the park and the location in which is resides. The artist will need to consider whether engineering is required for the submitted artwork and add those costs into their budget.
Projected budget is $50,000 for the entire project.
Reno’s Virginia Lake Park is like an oasis in the middle of the city. Surrounded by the growing urban Reno environment that through the years developed around it, Virginia Lake and its park provide a calm and quiet escape for one’s day. When it was originally built, Virginia Lake Park was actually south of Reno. The park has not moved since then, as the city proceeded to grow around it. Though originally designed for swimming, Virginia Lake is now only for viewing or fishing from an east shore dock. Ducks, geese, and gulls, many of which have become permanent residents, are now the only ones in the water. Strolling has been enhanced with recent paving and upgrades to the landscaping and walking paths.

Circus Circus Reno announces a call for artists for the 24-hour Mural Marathon.

The competition will begin at 10 a.m. on July 15th and go through the night, ending at 10 a.m. July 16th. The competitors will have 24 hours to paint an original mural in panel 19’7” feet wide by 14 feet high. This is a permanent art installation on the side of the Circus building. The murals (seven in total from seven different artists) will face Virginia Street in the heart of the Arch District in Downtown Reno, a busy intersection for motorists and travelers. Virginia Street will be closed for the event from 5th to 6th street. There will be music and food. This event is not just a competition but a show for audiences of all ages. People will be allowed and invited to watch the art.
The artists will compete for prize money, $2,000 to the first place winner, $1,000 to the second place winner, and $500 to the third place winner. Each artist will also receive a $750 stipend to pay for paint and materials in order to complete the murals. The winners will be selected by a panel of judges.
Circus Circus entered the art scene in 2014 with the very first 24-Hour Mural Marathon and it has grown since then.
