Art Center Sarasota announces a call for artists for their next exhibition, The Big Show. On view from July 16 – August 21, 2020. Art Center Sarasota invites contemporary artists to submit up to 3 works for considering in Sarasota’s open, all media, all subjects, national juried exhibition. This exhibition gives visitors an opportunity to see the diverse artistic mediums and enormous talent of today’s artists. This exhibition will fill all four galleries.

Every artist who submits to this juried exhibition is eligible for awards. The juror will review online submissions for entry, then select awards after viewing the work in person in early July.
Juror: Danny Olda, Manager of Curatorial Programs, Content and Engagement at Creative Pinellas. Danny is an art critic, editor, and independent curator.

Art Center Sarasota invites artists from across the United States to exhibit their works in all media and all subjects national exhibition, National Call, to be exhibited in all four of their galleries. The exhibition will run from December 12, 2019 – January 17, 2020. Works will be juried into the exhibition, entry fees do apply.

Over 200 works of art will be chosen for this exhibition. Have your artwork(s) on display for hundreds of visitors to view. Art Center Sarasota averages 60,000+ visitors to their galleries each year and over 300 visitors to each opening reception. All work will be for sale, with 65% commission allotted to the artist for any sale.
National Call Artist Benefits
Artists and creatives are encouraged to attend a juror critique on December 10 at 6pm. During this time, the juror will announce the place awards and describe why they were chosen. This is a great opportunity to ask your pressing questions. Ten place cash prizes will be awarded. 1st Place $1,500, 2nd Place $1,000, 3rd Place $500, Merit Awards (2) $250, Special Recognition (5) $100.
As the center of Sarasota’s visual arts community, Art Center Sarasota focuses on accessibility, diversity, and engagement. Artists, creatives, and visitors enjoy the Center’s education and exhibition programs. The juried exhibitions, such as this call, are open to anyone of any skill level, which leads to dynamic exhibitions of novice to professional artists in the same space. Broadening the juried exhibition to a national call helps marginalized communities in Sarasota identify with more diverse works by artists of similar backgrounds, that may not be represented by our local and regional artists.

Embracing Our Differences announces a call for artists for their international outdoor juried art exhibit celebrating diversity. Art is a powerful tool to evoke social change. Without uttering a single word, artists can enlighten, educate and affect change around the world. Since 2004, Embracing Our Differences has used the power of art and prose to promote diversity. The centerpiece of Embracing Our Differences is an outdoor juried art exhibit featuring 50 billboard size images (12.5 feet by 16 feet) created by artists and writers. The display reflects the artists’ interpretations of the theme enriching lives through diversity. The exhibit is displayed annually at Bayfront Park in downtown Sarasota.

Embracing Our Differences invites artists to participate in creating a world where differences are embraced and individuality is celebrated. Become a part of this exciting change through visual art or quote submission to the annual Embracing Our Differences international outdoor juried art exhibit. The statements accompanying each artwork are vital and provide insight into common humanity as well as the differences that make us all unique.
The 2020 exhibit will be displayed beginning January 18 through April 5, 2020 in Bayfront Park in downtown Sarasota, FL.
Outdoor Juried Art Exhibit Artist Benefits
The winning artworks combine a deep understanding of both medium and message. Awards are given for Best-in-Show Adult, Best-in-Show Student, and People’s Choice categories, with the last chosen by visitors to the exhibit. Adult winners each receive $1,000; students receive $1,000 with $500 to be directed to the student and $500 to their school’s art program, if they worked under the direction of an educator.
The previous year’s exhibit had an impressive response to the call for artwork and inspirational quotes, with 11,791 entries pouring in from 111 countries and 44 states. Students from 239 schools around the world submitted artwork or quotes to the juried exhibit and more than 70% of this year’s submissions were from students. The 2019 exhibit hosted 218,000 visitors to Bayfront Park, bringing total attendance, since 2004, to more than 2,920,000.
Embracing Our Differences’ annual outdoor exhibit is at the heart of a year-round program of activities designed to use art as a catalyst to create awareness and promote diversity. Crucial to our mission are the ongoing education initiatives. Presented in partnership with the regional school district and nationally recognized educators, these programs positively impact the lives of thousands of area teachers and students every year. These include workshops and retreats that provide diversity curricula for area educators, free bus transportation for students and teachers to visit cultural venues, and student docent programs in high schools.
