Watercolor Expressions (Martinsburg, WV) – Call For Artists

Berkeley Arts Council, Martinsburg, WV is pleased to announce a call for artists for a national juried watercolor exhibit, ‘Watercolor Expressions” to open May 20, 2020 at the Berkeley Art Works, 116 North Queen Street in Martinsburg. The exhibit is open to all artists using watercolor as a critical component of their work. This includes portraits, figures, landscapes, still lifes, animals, abstracts, and floral themes. The exhibit will open May 20, 2020 at the Berkeley Art Works, 116 N Queen Street in Martinsburg and will be on display until July 4, 2020. There will be a reception and awards presentation at the gallery on Sunday, May 31 from 2 – 4 pm.

The exhibit is open to all watercolor artists throughout the continental United States over the age of 18. Entries must be original works of art that have been completed within the last three (3) years, and have not been previously exhibited in the Berkeley Art Works.

Juror: Nationally and internationally known artist and workshop instructor, Lynn Ferris, AWS, NWS, will be the juror of this exhibit. Ms. Ferris is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, and Florida Watercolor Society.

Watercolor Expressions Artist Benefits

A prize fund of $1,000 will be distributed among Best in Show, Merit Awards, and Honorable Mention awards. For selected artists, this is an excellent chance to receive recognition from their peers as well as the local and regional news media.

The exhibit will receive promotion and publicity throughout the Eastern Panhandle region including Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington DC through the Berkeley Arts Council’s communication infrastructure, including local and regional media, Berkeley Arts Bulletin email, website, and social media.

Art And Earth Juried Exhibit 2020 (Martinsburg, WV) – Call For Artists

The Berkeley Arts Council in Martinsburg, West Virginia is pleased to announce the Tenth Annual Art and Earth Juried Art Exhibit 2020. The exhibit has the theme ‘Art and Earth: My Art – My World.’ Entries should reflect the artist’s view of nature, the environment, or reflect an Earth Day related theme. Any medium or technique, 2-dimension or 3-dimension, is acceptable.

The exhibit will open April 1, 2020 in the Berkeley Art Works, 116 North Queen Street in Martinsburg. The exhibit will be on display through May 16, 2020. There will be a reception at the gallery on Sunday, April 5 from 2-4pm.

The Art and Earth Juried Exhibit has grown in status and the artists will share in that status locally, regionally, and nationally. When the Berkeley Arts Council initiated this exhibit 10 years ago, their intent was to provide a meaningful platform for artists who appreciate nature and the environment to express their feelings through their art.

Seventh Annual Art and Earth Juried Exhibit – Call For Artists

The Berkeley Arts Council announces the Seventh Annual Art and Earth Juried Exhibit. The exhibit, which is produced by the Berkeley Arts Council, has the theme Art and Earth: My Art – My World.

Call for artists application / registration

Deadline: 20 Feb 2017

Entries should reflect the artist’s view of nature, the environment, or reflect an Earth Day related theme.

The entry fee for the exhibit is $35 for the first two works. Artists may submit one or two additional works for $10 each for a maximum of four works.

Entries for the Art and Earth exhibit must be submitted as digital images for jurying. You may submit up to four works to be juried for this exhibit.

The Seventh Annual Art and Earth Juried Exhibit will open April 5, 2017 in the Berkeley Art Works, 116 North Queen Street in Martinsburg. The exhibit will be on display through May 20, 2017. There will be reception at the gallery on Friday, April 21 from 5-7pm.

The exhibition is open to visual artists over the age of 18. Entries must be original works of art that have been completed within the last three years and have not been previously exhibited in The Berkeley Art Works.

The Seventh Annual Art and Earth Juried Exhibit juror for the 2017 exhibit is Sonya Evanisko, a producing artist and a Professor of Art at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, WV.

Now looking at its seventh annual exhibit, the Art and Earth Exhibit has grown and become one of the most important juried exhibits in the four state region around Eastern West Virginia. Awards include Best in Show $250. Other awards based on the number of entries.

About the Berkeley Arts Council

The Berkeley Arts Council was formed in 2009 to provide unified communication, promotion, support and advocacy for the arts community in Berkeley County, West Virginia. A project of the Berkeley Arts Council, it is the realization of the long-held dream of the arts community in Martinsburg and Berkeley County West Virginia: to have a community-based arts facility that supports local and regional artists, brings quality arts experiences for the members of the public, and provides a wide range of arts learning experiences for local residents, artists, and artisans.

The Berkeley Arts Council is the only organization in Eastern West Virginia that sponsors regular juried art exhibitions. In a little over 3-1/2 years more than 35 exhibits have been shown in the Berkeley Art Works. Exhibits include national and regional themes such as railroad art, wildlife art, and environmental theme and juried photography exhibits. Every exhibit has had a different juror to ensure that a wide range art media and styles are represented.

OH+5 Exhibition – Call for Artists

The tenth in a series of competitions, OH+5 ’16 is a regional, all media, juried exhibition of contemporary artwork.

Deadline: 16 Nov 2015

This exhibition serves to promote artists residing in Ohio and the five states that border Ohio: Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. OH+5 ’16 will feature NEW work that provides the viewer with an appreciation of the variety of media, techniques and innovative trends in contemporary art.

Jurors:

  • Susan Crehan-Hostetler is the Gallery Director for Hostetler Gallery in Nantucket, Massachusetts and Athens, Ohio.
  • Bill Horrigan is the Curator-at-Large at the Wexner Center.
  • Bartholomew Ryan, an independent curator, was The Warhol’s new Milton Fine Curator of Art.

The Exhibitions will be at the Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, Ohio. There will be cash awards for Best of Show; Innovative Use of Media, and 3 Jurors Awards. Artists will be able to sell their works as well as sell in our Gallery Shop and online.

The Dairy Barn Arts Center’s mission is to offer exhibitions, events, and educational programs that nurture and promote area artists and artisans; develop art appreciation among all ages; provide the community access to fine arts and crafts from outside the region; and draw attention and visitors to Southeast Ohio.
