Tualatin Riverkeepers and the City of Tualatin seek artists to design and paint for the Stormdrain Sidewalk Mural Project n Tualatin, Oregon. The goal of these sidewalk mural(s) is to raise awareness of stormdrains as a connection to Tualatin River water quality.

This artwork will work as a bilingual educational tool to remind the public that stormdrains drain directly to the waterways we use in our everyday life as drinking water and for recreation. Stormdrains connect urban areas to creeks, streams, and the Tualatin River through a system of pipes, drains, and culverts. They are located along streets and next to sidewalks. They collect stormwater from the surrounding impervious surfaces and direct it to nearby waterways. Stormdrains often blend into the surrounding urban infrastructure and are often forgotten about. The goal of this project is to bring awareness of these important urban features and the role they play in water quality.
Designs should incorporate an environmental theme, colors, and include the text: Drains to Tualatin River in English and another language of artist’s choice. Designs can also include images, icons, and symbols unique to the City of Tualatin and/or the Pacific Northwest. Mural should be no more than 4′ by 6′.
Stormdrain Sidewalk Mural Project Artist Requirements
- Submit a design proposal in PDF format.
- Attend and participate in at least two community events in Tualatin.
- Attend three meetings with Tualatin Riverkeepers and City of Tualatin staff. One prior to painting mural, one during painting of the mural, and a wrap-up meeting.
Stormdrain Sidewalk Mural Project artists will be notified by June 21st, 2019. Mural installation will take place in the summer of 2019. Selected artists will receive a commission of $750 USD after the completion of the mural. All materials will be supplied.
About Tualatin Riverkeepers
Tualatin Riverkeepers (TRK) is a community-based organization that protects and restores the Tualatin River watershed. They build watershed stewardship through engagement, advocacy, restoration, access, and education. At first glance, stormdrains and their unglamorous job of transporting stormwater runoff do not seem like catalysts for environmental activism. Yet, TRK has embraced stormdrains as canvasses to raise awareness about local water quality. Tualatin Riverkeepers hopes these murals will strengthen the ties between communities living along the Tualatin River. This artwork serves as a multilingual educational tool to remind the public that stormdrains carry urban runoff (e.g. oil, lawn chemicals, trash, pollutants) directly to the waterways we use in everyday life for drinking and recreation.

The Paseo Water/Culture 2019 call is seeking artists to bring visibility to Northern New Mexico’s water culture and issues. Working with artists, Paseo wishes to create more inclusive and imaginative planning processes. They provide benefits to the community through artistic installations, designs, and educational opportunities. Paseo seeks proposals for installations to creatively expand public knowledge and appreciation of the acequia networks downtown Taos, NM. Selected art activations will vary in media, scale, and programming.

The goal is to highlight the acequia network for the benefit of the local community and wider audience of visitors traversing the downtown. These installations will be featured at the Paseo 2019 festival, September 13th and 14th, with the opportunity for pre- and post-installation capacities. All installations will be considered as an implementation for permanent installations.
Paseo will work closely with a number of partners to implement the Water/Culture 2019 including the Town of Taos, the Acequia Madre de Rio Pueblo, The Taos Valley Acequia Association, The NM Acequia Association, The Arts and Cultural District, Taos Mainstreet, The Taos Gallery Association, Taos Art Council, and a number of educational institutions and local businesses.
Local acequia and cultural leaders have become increasingly aware of and engaged in the water issues facing Taos. There is tremendous opportunity to utilize arts and culture strategies to advance sustainable, integrated, and inclusive management of the community’s water resources. As creative thinkers and doers, artists can be powerful partners to water leaders. Together, they re-imagine traditional approaches to water planning and management and connect with communities in new ways.
About Paseo
The Paseo is a festival dedicated to bringing the art of installation, performance, and projection to the streets of Taos, New Mexico. This two-day outdoor event, set in the high desert of Taos, New Mexico, is in its sixth year. It is scheduled for Friday and Saturday evening, September 13rd and 14th, 2019.
The Paseo seeks work that is immersive, participatory, and/or will make a dynamic impact within the Taos Historic District during this evening festival. The event is scheduled to start at sunset and runs to 11pm. Paseo 2018 brought over 6,000 people to the streets of Taos to experience this annual celebration.

Artisan Alliance at Wishing Spring announces a call for artists for the Bella Vista Arts and Crafts Festival 2019 where vendors sell one hundred percent, handmade, high-quality goods. Northwest Arkansas’ all jury show is seeking new vendors. From kitchen goods to fine art, all media is welcome. There is currently no fee to apply. Over 40,000 shoppers attend. Northwest Arkansas is home to Walmart, Tyson, and the vendor companies that come with them. Shoppers come eager to spend money. The third weekend in October is Festival Weekend in Northwest Arkansas. Bella Vista Arts And Crafts Festival 2019 attracts tourists from every state in the union and into Canada.
Many community organizations come together to provide services that make the festival special. Free parking, large item pick up, and roaming ambassadors ensure vendors and shoppers have everything they need for a wonderful weekend. All positions staffed by non-profit volunteers from a dozen local organizations.
The Festival is sponsored by the Artisan Alliance at Wishing Spring. Nearly 90 percent of profits go to art scholarships for college students, block grants for elementary school art supplies, support for the Wishing Spring Gallery (a place for artisans to sell their work all year, staffed fully by volunteers), and the Clay Studio (a new Alliance endeavor to teach pottery to all interested). Even the festival director and staff are volunteers. Hundreds of people devote hundreds of donated hours every year to continue these missions. The other ten percent of profits go straight to community organizations.

Selected and published submissions shall receive $500. Potential for more based on book sales and future editions and compilations of the book series. Cannabis Creatives works to connect underprivileged or under-educated artists with galleries and provide them with no cost representation to the gallery.
