Quad City Arts Exhibits 2020 (Rock Island, IL) – Call For Artists

Quad City Arts invites artists residing within a 250-mile radius of the Quad Cities to submit a proposal for the Quad City Arts Exhibits 2020, a gallery exhibition in one of two gallery spaces during 2020-21 (Downtown Rock Island, IL and MLI airport in Moline, IL). Exhibitions will occur September 2020 through August 2021.

Artists who have exhibited at one of Quad City Arts’ galleries within the past two years will be considered for exhibition in the alternate space. For example, if you were selected for a show at the airport during 2019-2020, you are eligible to exhibit at the Rock Island Gallery.

Quad City Arts Exhibits 2020 Artist Benefits

Quad City Arts’ Rock Island Gallery is located in what was once a department store in 1908, with the original wood floors and a 14′ high, tin ceiling. The exhibition gallery has 1500 sq. feet of space and 106 running feet of wall space. There are floor-to-ceiling north facing windows looking out on the Mississippi River.

Art @ the Airport is in front of the main arrival/departure seating area in the Quad City International Airport. It houses 1,600 square feet of exhibition space in floor to ceiling glass cases. Over 2 million visitors pass through this space annually.

Exhibitions at our Rock Island gallery also include an opening reception on the first Friday of the exhibit.

About Quad City Arts

Quad City Arts Council, founded in 1970 as an arts advocacy organization that operated a visual arts gallery and re-granting program for local artists, launched Visiting Artists, Inc. in 1974 as an educational residency program presenting multi-disciplinary performing arts through residencies in schools and at community sites. Due to high demand for the residencies, Festival of Trees debuted in 1986 as a fund raiser for the program.

​The organization’s dual role of presenting the arts and humanities, as well as serving as an arts resource, allows them to serve more than 350,000 people annually in the Arts Center in Rock Island and at over 200 rural and urban community sites.

The title, In Between, refers to the meaning transmitted by a variety of art media. It refers to the human quality to read the meaning behind and between the artworks. About GaleriaZero

GaleriaZero (from 1997) may be considered a dynamic art gallery that specializes in the international promotion of artists and the increase of the communication between perception and art in its widest sense. This means that they do not center only in visual artists, but as well in photographers, performers, architects and even poets, light, and sound artists.

The concept is not just exhibiting artworks. GaleriaZero promotes presentations as a general concept and integration between several art forms. The aim is to provide a specific art experience in line with the theme and concept of the exhibition project. They transmit a specific meaning in the conjunctions presented in order to promote a social discussion or contribution of interest.

In the mentioned sense, GaleriaZero is not a commercial art gallery, but more a promoter of artists and a creator of socially relevant art presentations realized in collaboration with the artists, the location, and specific professionals for the characteristics and the quality of the art experiences. For this reason, artists can apply for art exhibitions and participate in the selection procedures, but in many cases artists will be approached if their way of working is in line with specific projects. Usually, participation will involve economic collaboration by artists or sponsors in order to cover the realization costs, publicity, and specially to guarantee the quality of the presentation in general.

Second and third places will win diploma and award. Honorable mentions will be given a diploma. All selected artwork will be in the heart of the Miami Design District where top buyers and stores are located and easily reached.

Hearts In San Francisco (San Francisco, CA) – Call For Artists

San Francisco General Hospital Foundation announces a call for artists for the annual Hearts in San Francisco public art project, which will be celebrating its 16th anniversary. For the 2020 series, the Foundation welcomes design submissions by local San Francisco Bay Area artists. The series will include ten large hearts, eight table top hearts, and fifteen mini heart sculptures.

On February 13, 2020, the hearts will be auctioned at the annual Hearts in San Francisco event. Proceeds benefit life-enhancing programs and initiatives at Zuckerberg San Francisco General, the Heart of our City. Artwork and proceeds (2004–2019) have raised more than $22 million for the Foundation and nationally recognized programs to enhance the quality of patient care in the areas of women and children’s health, chronic disease management, palliative care, HIV/AIDS, orthopedics, trauma and more.

Hearts in San Francisco is one of the most widely recognized public art projects in the country. Since the project’s inception in 2004, San Francisco Bay Area artists have created more than 350 Hearts. They have gone on display all across the city of San Francisco and beyond, from Union Square to the lobbies or conference rooms of corporate supporters throughout the state, including Genentech and Wells Fargo.

Each Heart is a unique, one-of-a-kind work of art and celebrates the diversity of San Francisco through designs made of acrylic paints, mosaic art, mixed media sculptures, and Swarovski crystals. Artists have the option to propose a design for either a large heart (5′ tall x 6’ wide x 40″ deep; 400 pounds), table top heart (16″ tall x 17″ wide x 8″ deep; 25 pounds), or mini heart (7″ tall x 6″ wide x 2″ deep; 5 pounds). Select Large Hearts will have the opportunity to be displayed in San Francisco’s Union Square from February 2020 through to October 2020.

Heart sculpture artist selection is conducted by a committee comprised of San Francisco General Hospital Foundation staff, board members, and community volunteers. Selection notifications will be sent via email the week of August 26, 2019.

Visual Artists Guild hopes to create a space for the world to celebrate human rights, freedom of expression, and democracy. Chosen artists will collaborate with an international team of activists, artists, donors, and high profile humanitarians in the ongoing effort to protect the right for freedom of speech and expression. Select artists will have an opportunity to participate in panel discussions. They will be offered a forum to discuss the themes of their artwork in front of a notable audience and press. Artists will be offered promotional material featuring their work to share with their friends and family. Marydale Arts Festival is free to register. Handmade craft products are accepted. Artists will be able to show and sell work at a festival that draws a unique demographic. It happens later in the year than most other festivals. Additionally, the North End Neighborhood Organization strives to make the process of tabling easy for new attendees and help them gain experience selling art. Last year over 1000 attendees filled the park and enjoyed art, music, games, food, and beer. This year will draw more as this festival grows. Many artists made upward of $300-500 at this festival in 2018.

Arts Orange County announces a call for artists for a bicycle rack artwork project at the Santa Ana Veterans Village (SAVV). SAVV is a Permanent Supportive Housing development designed to provide critical shelter and services to homeless veterans navigating the transition off the streets. SAVV is now under construction by not-for-profit developer Jamboree Housing Corporation, and will open in Spring 2020.

Santa Ana Veterans Village desires to provide a welcoming, comfortable, and healing environment for its residents and visitors. Some of whom have experienced severe war-time trauma and its after-effects. Therefore, Arts Orange County is seeking artwork that is uplifting in spirit, does not employ military imagery, or have the potential to be disturbing or to trigger distress.

Bicycle Rack Artwork Project Artist Benefits

For the Bicycle Rack Artwork Project, fee is to be no greater than $15,000. The fee is to include design, review by a structural engineer, fabrication, delivery to site, preparation of a maintenance plan, and cost of artist’s travel to site to oversee its installation by Jamboree’s contracted professional art installation subcontractor. Final installed work becomes the property of Santa Ana Village LP. Artist’s work will have a permanent home making a contribution to an environment with a specific and urgent social good at its heart.
