Studio interns are crucial participants in WSW’s creative community.

This intern works directly with WSW’s Managing Director and Digital Content Manager and gains experience working on the operational side of an established nonprofit arts organization. The intern will undertake projects relating to public relations, marketing, fundraising, event planning, and arts administration.
Paid Internships Benefits
All internships include a private room in WSW’s on-campus Anne Atwood House and a stipend of $600/month. Interns work 40 hours/week, generally Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, but the schedule may change to accommodate the Workshop’s programming.
Interns have access to the studios for their own work outside of regular working hours and with respect to studio programming. The internship session culminates in a group exhibition of work created during the term.
Interns are able to contribute to the WSW community and learn from artists at the tops of their fields.

This is an opportunity to have your work selected by an Art Renewal Center Associate Living Master Artist who has exhibited his work widely both nationally and internationally and has been a master teacher for over twenty years, teaching how to capture the essence and spirit of a subject and tell stories in art to communicate emotion.
Entrants will have the opportunity to win one of three awards – $1200 Best in Show, $800 Second Place, or $400 Third Place and be invited to a future winners exhibition. Besides being shown in the gallery, all selected artists will have their work shown on the Mills Pond Gallery website.
About Mills Pond Gallery
Smithtown Township Arts Council operates Mills Pond Gallery in an historic Greek Revival building built in 1838. There are five gallery rooms and the facility can display an average of 60 works of art.
Adaptation of Mills Pond House for public use has introduced modern mechanical systems to the structure without impairing its historic integrity. Gallery lighting and handicapped access have been designed to complement the original building. Notable among the circa 1838 Grecian details are the gold-veined marble mantelpieces, ornamental plater “centres” applied to the ceilings, and front and rear stoops supported by wooden Doric columns.
Mills Pond house preserves the locality’s name, but departs from tradition in other respects. Its high-style Grecian design is unusual on Long Island and the hand of an accomplished architect is nearly unique at this early date. Pollard’s influence is seen in the use of imported materials: Albany boards, Carolina yellow pine, English glass, Connecticut stone, and Santo Domingan mahogany. The silvered hardware, decorative plaster, and carpeting were bought in New York City shops. William Wickham Mills died in 1865. His home descended in the family until its gift to the Town of Smithtown in 1976. Today, it is preserved for use as an arts-related facility.

[Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] The PASEO is a festival dedicated to bringing the art of installation, performance, and projection to the streets of Taos, New Mexico. This two-day outdoor event, set in the high desert of Taos, New Mexico, is in its tenth year, and is scheduled for Friday and Saturday evening, September 15th and 16th, 2023.
The PASEO is seeking artwork that is immersive, participatory, and/or will make a dynamic impact within the Taos Historic District of Taos during this evening festival, scheduled to start at sunset and run to 11 pm. PASEO 2022 brought thousands of people to the streets of Taos to experience this annual celebration.
Additionally, artists are encouraged to share their process of art-making with the Taos community. As part of the application process, artists are invited to submit proposals for adult and youth workshops, lectures, and forums.

The PASEO is seeking 20 installations for 2023. They provide stipends ranging from $500 to $3,000 (with larger projects funded at $5,000 to $15,000). Stipend is contingent on size, complexity, and anticipated festival impact. The PASEO provides funds for the shipping of artwork, but artists are responsible for the installation. The festival will provide staff and volunteers to assist.
The PASEO festival brings in thousands of locals and tourists alike to Taos, New Mexico, for this free event.

Arts Alive Public Art Program Theme for 2023: What is home?
This is an excellent opportunity for both mid-career and emerging artists to showcase their work. Artists are invited to reflect on and interpret the theme ‘What is Home?’.

For this call NYC4PA is challenging photographers to pair two photographs and submit them in diptych format (both images in one file). The images in each file will be “almost” the same but different enough to make each unique. You may have two versions of an image that you processed differently, or the same scene shot at different times of day. [Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] Women’s Studio Workshop (WSW) announces a call for artists for the Public Art Mural Grant, a four-week residency in which an artist will create an original work for WSW’s mural wall. The mural space at Women’s Studio Workshop faces the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail (WVRT), which is an active outdoor public trail used primarily for walking, running, and cycling. The mural space is 10′ x 23.5′ and overlooks a new, ADA accessible patio and community gathering area.

The grant includes a stipend of $350/week, $500 for materials, $250 for travel, and free on-campus housing. Applicants should keep in mind all COVID-19 related travel stipulations. WSW artistic staff will be available for technical and material support throughout the residency. WSW estimates that approximately 3,000-5,000 WVRT users pass by the facilities on a monthly basis, many coming onto the campus to view the current mural or inquire about the organization.

Created in 2016, Penticton’s Public Sculpture Exhibition (PPSE) is a year-long outdoor exhibit of original sculptures. The Pentiction Sculpture Walk Exhibition is committed to serving the public by providing access to various mediums of public sculpture. It is well noted that public art slows down the pedestrian traffic, providing a positive impact on the enjoyment and mood of the general public, influences how people see and connect within their communities, and provides an opportunity for dialogue between friends and strangers. Through an annual revolving collection of sculptures, the City of Pentiction hopes to provide a freshness to public art that engages, connects, and provides its community with a sense of image and identity, as well as including artists as contributors to this cultural fabric.
General Information
- PPSE is open to professional sculptors of all backgrounds.
- Previously completed sculpture photos, or proposed designs can be submitted. For proposed designs, detailed drawings of the proposed sculpture must be included, as well as photo examples of previous work.
- Lakefront/downtown sculptures are required to remain on site for the duration of one year (May 2023 – April 2024). The roundabout sculpture may be negotiated into a two-year term (May 2023-April 2025).
- Artists will be responsible for transportation of their sculpture to and from site. Pedestals / pads will be provided by the PPSE.
- Artists will retain the ownership of their sculpture and will be responsible for carrying comprehensive insurance to cover it in the event of theft or vandalism and public liability, or will sign an indemnification in favour of the City of Penticton for any liability claims against the City as a result of the existence or location of the sculpture within the City during the exhibition. The risk of loss or damage to the sculpture will always be borne by the artist, and the artist will be responsible to repair and or replace all or part of the sculpture in the event of loss or damage thereto during the exhibition.
- The City will enter into a lease agreement with the Artist for the duration of the exhibition and the Artist is responsible to uphold all terms and conditions of the agreement as set out by the City.
- City staff will perform the installation to ensure that the work is done in accordance with City standards, and to optimize the viewing of the sculpture.
- Sculptures will be placed in predetermined locations at the discretion of the PPSE committee and City.
- Artists are encouraged to be present for the installation of their sculpture(s) in May, 2023, and removal in April, 2024. In the event the artist cannot be present, they are required to provide, in writing, a representative to be present on their behalf.
- At the end of the lease any sales/leases of sculptures will be conducted solely by the artist or their agent and will not involve the City.
- The City will be responsible for media relations and publicity for the sculpture exhibition.
- The artist will retain copyright for their sculpture and grant the City a license to take and distribute images of the sculptures. Any other likeness or models of the sculpture will not be created without the explicit permission of the artist.
Public Sculpture Exhibition Artist Benefits
Artists will be paid a set lease price of $2,000 for the waterfront/downtown sculptures and $3,000 for the roundabout sculpture. In addition to the lease amounts, prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ($500, $300, and $200 respectively) will be awarded. The sculptures are owned by the artists and leased by the City of Penticton.
With Pentiction being a year-round tourist destination in British Columbia’s heart of the Okanagan, chosen artists will benefit by receiving access to the general public for a period of one full year, for the waterfront or downtown sites, and a possible two-year period for the Front Street roundabout site. Throughout the lease period, artists gain access to further leasing or sales opportunities that may conclude at the end of the lease period. These further opportunities will be conducted solely by the artist and outside of the involvement of the City.

The Primary Colors competition is about images in which one of these colors is a critical component. Submit each image into one of the categories: Red, Blue, or Yellow. Possibilities include black and white photographs with a single point of color; a red, yellow, or blue monochrome; or any image where red, yellow, or blue stands out as an important part of the composition. In August 2012, NYC4PA launched its first international call for entry. These past ten years have been quite an adventure. They have sponsored over 50 contests, awarded thousands of dollars in prizes, hosted a myriad of exhibitions, and led a wonderful photography trip to Iceland/Greenland.
To honor this milestone, NYC4PA are sponsoring a Tenth Anniversary, no theme, call for entry. It will include, in addition to regular prizes, a live exhibition of the cash prize winning and juror’s selection images. For this show the size of framed images will be limited to 11×14 (or 14×11). The exhibition will be held in a gallery in New York City Hell’s Kitchen in October 2022.
