Preference is given to submissions that are culturally relevant with a unique perspective and the ability to provide a diverse art experience. Cutting edge contemporary work and multi-disciplinary artists are strongly encouraged. Group exhibitions and curatorial proposals are welcomed, as well as solo exhibition proposals from established and emerging artists in all mediums.

The Firehouse Art Center is Longmont’s leading contemporary art center featuring national, regional, and local artists. Their beautiful National Historic Landmark building features two exhibitions spaces and over 1,000 square feet of space. They focus on accessible contemporary art that engages curiosity and conversation. Admission to the Firehouse is free and serves over 10,000 visitors each year.

A select number of artists will be selected to send their work to the gallery for the in-person exhibition at their brick and mortar gallery in Laguna Beach, California.

In the northern Hemisphere, summer is here, the weather is warm, and we have the great outdoors to play in. The truth; however, is we can play indoors and outdoors all year long no matter what the weather. “Play Ball” brings to mind baseball, but sports, including things like polo and volleyball, are only part of how we play. Don’t forget the myriad of other outdoor and indoor games. Consider childhood activities like hit the penny and hopscotch, running bases, playground swings, seesaws and merry go rounds. Indoors adds so much more with all the wonderful games like chess, mahjongg, bridge, and Monopoly.

Shots that focus on the game, equipment, or players are all part of the theme. Send in your interpretation of this broad and varied theme. As with all NYC4PA calls, all 2D photographic art is accepted. The call is open to any photographers worldwide – any age, amateur or professional.

NYC4PA gives photographers worldwide an opportunity to participate in themed calls for photographers. Each call offered has a different theme. The prizes total $3000. There is a grand prize, 3 first prizes, 3 second prizes, 3 third prizes, 20 juror’s selections, and 20 honorable mentions. All 50 winners are posted in a gallery on the NYC4PA website and included in an exhibition gallery. A professional photographer, gallery owner, or photography teacher is the juror.

About New York Center for Photographic Art

New York Center for Photographic Art offers six to eight opportunities a year for any and all photographers, from amateur to professional, male or female, young or old. Photographers are encouraged to submit photographs based on the specific theme as laid out in the call. Ten winners receive cash prizes. Twenty submitters are selected as Juror’s Selections and 20 submitters are selected as Honorable Mentions.

[Sponsored Listing] The Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC) announces a call for artists for Recycle 2021, a national juried show of art crafted from cast‐off, discarded, and re‐purposed materials and celebration of ingenuity and imagination.

BWAC is seeking to exhibit sophisticated two‐ and three‐ dimensional art created in the re‐use genre. The juror is John Cloud Daiser, Director of Education from Materials of the Arts.

As well as looking for skill in the use of material, BWAC wants to see art that demonstrates the importance of conserving limited natural resources. They will be looking for how well the medium relates to the upcycling movement and how fully the artist’s intention or concept is presented and realized. The Recycle juror’s awards will reflect that artistic judgment.

BWAC’s 8,000 square foot gallery is in a Civil War-era warehouse on the Red Hook waterfront. The vista of New York Harbor, spanning the Statue of Liberty to the Verrazano Bridge, is one of the best in the city. Gallery-goers enjoy the nearby restaurants, bars, IKEA, and Fairway Market.

For over 20 years, BWAC has provided support for musicians and performers, offering performance based opportunities to participate as a major feature of opening receptions and specially themed exhibitions. Performances complement ongoing programming. The art exhibitions and performances are free and open to the public.
