Struggle For Statehood (Fulton, MO) – Call For Artists

The Mildred M. Cox Gallery at William Woods University announces a call for artists for Struggle For Statehood: Missouri, The Show Me State. Artists are invited to submit artwork to complement the Bicentennial traveling exhibit sponsored by the Missouri Humanities Council. Submit up to three artworks each.

The traveling exhibit will explore the significance of Missouri’s statehood. It will examine the conflict, crisis, and compromise surrounding its admission into the Union in commemoration of its upcoming bicentennial. This exhibit was developed by the Missouri Humanities Council in consultation with the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy. It is supported by The Bicentennial Alliance. Companion programming has been made possible in part from funding provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The Struggle For Statehood jurors will select best-of-show, first, second, and third place awards.

Since 2015, William Woods University hosts the Bridging Differences, Conversations on Gender, and Race Symposium annually. The symposium features nationally recognized speakers, sponsors an art exhibition, and provides round table discussions. These events are open to the public.

About William Woods University

William Woods University has a long and fascinating history originating in the aftermath of the American Civil War. First known as the Female Orphan School, the institution that is now William Woods University was founded in 1870 in Camden Point, Missouri in response to the needs of female children orphaned during the war.

During the late nineteenth century, the institution moved to Fulton, Missouri, and expanded its elementary and secondary programs to accommodate young women who aspired to become teachers. Known briefly at the beginning of the twentieth century as Daughters College, the institution changed its name to William Woods College to honor a major benefactor and began offering a two-year college program. In 1962, anticipating dramatic changes in the role of American women in the labor force, William Woods became a four-year college.

Expanding its mission to address the need for graduate and adult-oriented programs, the institution became known as William Woods University in 1993. It began offering graduate degrees and admitting men as well as women into all of its programs.
An independent institution, chartered by the State of Missouri, governed by a self-perpetuating board of trustees, and in an ongoing covenant relationship with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), William Woods University remains committed to serving the public good by helping students link intellectual development with the responsibilities of citizenship and professional life.

About the Mildred M. Cox Gallery

Located in the Gladys W. Kemper Center for the Arts, the Mildred M. Cox Gallery is a museum-quality viewing space that features rotating exhibits from students, faculty, alumni, and regional artists alike. All exhibits are free and open to the public. Students are inspired by the diversity of programming offered by the Mildred M. Cox Gallery throughout the year. The art committee is dedicated to seek traditional and contemporary exhibit opportunities with the purpose of enriching students’ visual arts experience beyond academics. Calls for artsits are promoted regularly to compliment the annual student and faculty shows.

St Joseph Sculpture Walk 2019 – Call For Artists

The Allied Arts Council and the City of Saint Joseph, Missouri seek sculptures to be placed in Downtown Saint Joseph for the St Joseph Sculpture Walk 2019. Sculpture artists are invited to submit work for this one-year sculpture exhibition scheduled from June 2019-May 2020. The walking tour is in the heart of St. Joseph. It features the work of artists from across the United States.

Artists must own the rights to the artwork and the sculpture must be available for the duration of the one-year contract. All St Joseph Sculpture Walk 2019 sculptures are available for purchase.

The St Joseph Sculpture Walk through the Allied Arts Council is the only sculpture walk exhibition in Northwest Missouri that calls for artists and requires submissions. Saint Joseph, Missouri is a unique blend of natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and beautiful, historic architecture. The mission of the Saint Joseph Sculpture Walk is to be an important, nationally recognized platform for sculptures while educating and inspiring the Saint Joseph community and its many visitors. The Sculpture Walk is a program of the Allied Arts Council that introduces contemporary outdoor public art and sculptures to the community. The Walk is a year-long exhibit of national, juried, outdoor sculptures displayed in Downtown St. Joseph and includes an eclectic mix of fifteen sculptures from artists nationwide.

St Joseph Sculpture Walk 2019 Artist Benefits

Selected sculptures/sculptors will receive a $500 honorarium. All sculptures selected will be competing for up to $13,000 in cash prize awards. Your sculpture will be on display for one year in Downtown St. Joseph. There is an artists’ reception and awards ceremony before the first official walk. People travel to St. Joseph to experience the Sculpture Walk. Individuals who participate in the walk will vote on which sculpture is their favorite. The Allied Arts Council will purchase a sculpture to become a permanent part of Saint Joseph’s public art collection. Sculptures have not only been purchased by the Allied Arts Council, but also by other organizations in St. Joseph.

About Allied Arts Council

The Allied Arts Council, the second oldest arts council in Missouri, was organized in 1963 to provide service to St. Joseph area arts organizations, artists, and the general public. The Council has since grown into a federation of fifteen arts agencies, produces community arts programs, raises funds, promotes public awareness, and provides service and support to its member agencies. The Allied Arts Council seeks to make St. Joseph a better place to live through the arts. Its mission is to provide leadership and support for the arts and to its member organizations.

As the leadership organization for the arts in St Joseph, the Council fulfills its mission in several ways: by supporting its member organizations in promoting artistic opportunities by; providing financial support and fostering coordinated cultural planning; offering programs to educate and develop future audiences; providing forums of expression for local artists; and advocating for arts and its member organizations at the local, state, and national levels. The Allied Arts Council is managed by a professional staff of four and 31 board of directors. Programs utilize over 2,000 volunteers each year.

Summit Art Festival – Call for Artists

Summit Art, in collaboration with Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street, announces a call for artists for the Summit Art Festival.

The Summit Art Festival is a 3-day high quality fine art event in the heart of historic downtown Lee’s Summit, MO. It is managed and operated by the volunteer efforts of Summit Art members, Downtown Main Street members, and community volunteers.

A total of $3,000 will be given in cash awards, in addition to our Patron Purchase Program. Awards will be given for Best in Show, First, Second, and Third Place, as well as a Mayor’s Choice Award, a Directors Choice Award, and up to 3 Juror Merit Awards.

East Central College – Call for Artists

The Art Gallery at East Central College in Union, MO is pleased to announce an open call for proposals for exhibitions in Fall 2016 and Spring 2017.

Open to artists in North America working in all visual media, the call encourages proposals for exhibition by both individuals and groups.

There is no entry fee.

Selected artists will have a 4-6 week exhibit in the East Central College Art Gallery. Artists are responsible for shipping their work to the gallery in sturdy, reusable boxes. East Central College will provide return shipping to the artist.

As an extension of the classroom, the ECC Art Gallery enhances the education and culturally enriches the daily life of Art and Design majors, non-majors, ECC faculty and staff, and the broader community. In choosing exhibition programming for the Art Gallery, attention is paid to crafting a schedule that is diverse in media, style, and content providing students and the community with a wide range of art forms, means of visual communication, and messages.

Branson Landing will be holding its 5th Annual Artisans Market on the Promenade with arts and crafts. We are looking for handmade artists and crafters to participate in our show.

2015 Annual Art Fair Call for Artists

The 2015 Annual Art Fair will be held on May 8, 9 and 10 at Laumeier Sculpture Park in St. Louis, Missouri. More than 15,000 patrons attend this annual three-day event on Mother’s Day weekend, featuring regional food vendors, a wine garden, live music and 150 juried artists exhibiting work in ten categories.

Deadline: 1/10/2015.

Media categories include ceramics, fiber/textiles, glass, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography/digital, printmaking/drawing, sculpture and wood. All artists ages 18 and up who exhibit work of original concept, design and execution are eligible to apply. Artists may apply in more than one category; however, a separate application and jury fee ($35) for each category must be submitted (artists may not apply more than once in the same category). Total Art Fair participants are limited to 150. Artists are juried by a panel of respected fine art and craft professionals, selected by Laumeier Sculpture Park from local and regional museums, universities and galleries.

Artist applications will be accepted beginning Wednesday, October 15, 2014. The application deadline is Saturday, January 10, 2015. Jury results will be announced on Saturday, February 14, 2015. The deadline to accept the invitation and reserve space (booth fee payment required) is Saturday, February 28, 2015. Laumeier uses ZAPP for the Art Fair digital application process.

All proceeds from Art Fair sales go to the artist (artists are responsible for collecting and filing Missouri sales tax). Judges will award a total of $5,000 cash to those artists achieving excellence, regardless of media categories.

Laumeier Sculpture Park is a living laboratory where artists and audiences explore the relationship between contemporary art and the natural environment. Founded in 1976, Laumeier is one of the first and largest dedicated sculpture parks in the country, making it an institution of international significance as well as a unique compliment to the cultural landscape of the St. Louis region. Laumeier is a nonprofit, accredited art museum that operates in partnership with St. Louis County Parks. Laumeier encompasses 60 works of large-scale outdoor sculpture in a 105-acre park available free to the public year-round.

Off the Table! Plates for the Wall Call for Artists

Missouri Western State University Clay Guild – The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older residing in the U.S. Artworks must have been completed within the last two years. Works may be either functional or sculptural plate/platter forms designed to hang on the wall. All entries must be complete with a hanging device capable of securely supporting the work on the wall.

Trail’s End Western Art Show Call for Artists

Trail’s End Western Art Show and Sale, April 24, 25 & 26, 2015, is a three-day, indoor, juried, professional fine art, fine art crafts, and folk art show and sale with space for artists, crafters, and specialty vendors.

The Trail’s End Committee is celebrating the dedication of the soon to be national landmark, the Starline Brass Trail’s End Plaza, a $700,000 community project in Sedalia, Missouri, the original ‘Cowtown’. This weekend is the first of many to come celebrating the cattle drive, the cowboy, the railroaders and the pioneers who settled the west.
