Deja 42 Art Gallery is looking for artists who would like to showcase their work in their upcoming July exhibition, Metahumans, Monsters, and Myths. Creators are encouraged to submit their interpretations and visions of superheroes, super villains, mutants, super powers, creatures, gods and goddesses, myths, and stories both ancient and current, urban legends, demons and angels, witches, wizards, warlocks, and good and evil.

Fairy tales are all about things bigger than life: Giants, witches, trolls, dinosaurs and dragons and all sorts of imaginative things. A non-refundable entry fee of $20 is required for up to three artworks. If you would like to include detail images of your work, those are excepted at no additional cost. Please include contact information, artwork title, media and dimensions with your submission. It is preferable that artworks are for sale. All hanging work must be suitably framed to a professional standard. Work must be wired and ready for hanging. Canvases should have neat gallery wrapped edges. Accepted artists will be notified by Friday, July 4th , 2019. Pieces must be delivered to the gallery no later than Wednesday, July 10th, 2019. Openings are every second Saturday of the month. Openings draw a big crowd in an intimate space. This offers promotion, exposure, and open discussion among artists and potential buyers.

Lansdowne Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) announces a call for artists for the Lansdowne Arts on the Avenue Festival 2019, one of its oldest and most well-known attractions, drawing in visitors from Philadelphia, the suburbs, and beyond. Each artist displays their work under a canopy. There is a DJ tent, a live music tent, and a food truck area. It is an all-day festival of fine art, craftmanship, music, food trucks, and children’s entertainment.

Sprocket Mural Works, a city-wide mural project in Harrisburg, PA, seeks artists interested in producing an original piece of public art during their second mural festival. 2019 HBG Mural Fest is a focused surge of city beautification through the creation of 10 murals in 10 days. The mural festival will run in Harrisburg, PA, from August 30 – September 8, 2019. The first mural festival in 2017 was an incredible success. Sprocket Mural Works is looking for artists who are excited to be a part of the second effort and make their mark on the city landscape.

Prior pubic art experience is appreciated, but not required. Preference will be given to local and regional artists, although national and international artists may be selected. Artists will be notified of their acceptance the week of April 15. The murals will be produced during the 10-day period of August 30 – September 8. Artists must be able to produce a mural within that 10-day period. Starting prior to August 30 may be acceptable, but would need to be coordinated with Sprocket Mural Works in advance.
During the 2017 event, Sprocket added 18 public murals to the face of Harrisburg. In doing so, they created the initial framework of a walkable mural tour. In 2019, they aim to fill the gaps in this trail, ultimately making Harrisburg a mural-dense city.

2019 HBG Mural Fest artists will make a permanent, public mark on Pennsylvania’s capital city that will be visible to residents and visitors for years to come. Chosen artists will receive a stipend for their participation and, if required, travel expenses will be covered. Mural materials will be supplied. Walls will be prepped prior to the artist’s arrival.

Bridgette Mayer Art Advisors (BMAA) in collaboration with The Executive Committee of The Bower is seeking to commission professional artist/sculptor and or artist teams to design, fabricate, and oversee fabrication and install permanent site-specific sculptures or permanent land art installations as part of its launch of its Phase I Bower Sculpture Park and Gardens. The park is located in Shermans Dale, PA (30 minutes outside of Harrisburg, PA).

The owners are developing The Bower: Sculpture Park and Gardens, a rural setting, garden, and sculpture park located on their 36-acre wooded and meadow site along the northern slope of the Appalachian Mountains in Perry County, Pennsylvania. The Bower Sculpture Park and Gardens will serve as their primary residence, event setting for non-profit organizations, and a nature and art education center. This project is a legacy project they are undertaking to support artists and create a viable sculpture park that will educate and inspire the general public.
The future plans include an artist studio, an artist residency program, possible gallery/exhibition space, and public programming with various museums and collecting groups. There are meadow, garden, and woodland settings on the property where the commissioned sculptures and projects would be placed. It is the owner’s vision to curate an array of sculptural works, both large scale and intimate, that present visual interest from multiple perspectives. The works shall be designed to complement, enhance, or provide interesting contrast within the natural setting. The construction shall be durable to withstand the changing seasons and weather elements and safe for interaction by visitors.
Chosen artwork will be required to withstand a high-traffic, unmonitored outdoor environment with very limited maintenance. Artists should take into consideration the possibility of adverse weather conditions, the well-being of pedestrian traffic passing by and through the site, and the safety of the audience.
Bower Sculpture Park And Gardens Artist Benefits
Approximately five to ten finalists will be chosen from the pool of applicants. Those finalists will be provided an honorarium up to $1500.00 to work with Bridgette Mayer Art Advisors and attain feedback from the Executive Committee to develop a final proposal for the artwork. Artists may utilize imported materials of their choosing or landforming, stone, wood, or other organics from the natural setting. The chosen artists/teams will then be commissioned to finalize design, fabricate, ship, and install the artwork. BMAA and Executive Committee will discern amount of honorarium to be given out based on potential travel and or other expenses of the particular applicant and an amount of up to $1500.00 will be awarded.
For artists wishing to submit already fabricated scultpure works, they can do so for consideration, however please note if a work is selected that is already fabricated, an honorarium will not be provided in this instance.

The Susquehanna Art Museum announces a call for artists for Inspired: Contemporary Responses to a Legacy of Courage, a juried exhibition in the Lobby Gallery and DeSoto Family Vault. June 28 – July 1, 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the historic Stonewall uprising. The uprising, a series of violent demonstrations, was a spontaneous moment of courageous activism by members of the LGBTQ+ community against a police raid that took place at the Stonewall Inn in the Greenwich Village. The Stonewall Riots served as a catalyst for the LGBTQ+ rights movement in the United States and around the world. To recognize and commemorate this historic moment, Susquehanna Art Museum is partnering with the LGBT Center of Central PA and Dickinson College Archives and Special Collections to open the LGBTQ+ history project collection to artists and creators. The collection documents the stories and history of LGBTQ+ life and activism in Central PA.

Susquehanna Art Museum’s 2019 juried exhibition provides an opportunity for artists to visit the collection at the Dickinson College Archives and Special Collections. Artists are tasked with creating original works of art inspired by the items in the collection. Works selected for this exhibition should provide a contemporary reflection on a pivotal moment in American LGBTQ+ history. Submissions may consider the history of the LGBTQ+ community, the continued search for equity and inclusion both nationally and globally, social justice for marginalized groups, or other expressions of creativity inspired by the collection. These works may include, but are not limited to: ceramics, mixed media sculpture, painting, drawing, performance, video, the written word, and graphic design.

Tyler Arboretum, in Media, PA, announces a call for artists for the 2019 Gateways to Nature Exhibit. Create a structure or work for Gateways to Nature that showcases your talent and vision. Ignite the imaginations of a broad regional audience by creating portals, gateways, and thresholds that invite discovery of the natural world on extensive grounds. Gateways to Nature will run from April through October, 2019, at Tyler Arboretum.

Submissions may include existing works appropriate to the theme or new works. All works including those offered for sale must remain at Tyler for the duration of the exhibit. - A maximum one-page description of the exhibit concept

- Relevance to theme – Gateways to Nature.

- Durability and Safety – structurally sound and able to withstand environmental stresses as well as the active engagement of visitors of all ages for the duration of the exhibit
- Executable – able to be installed within the two-week installation time frame by the exhibitor’s team with limited help from Tyler staff and volunteers
- Flexibility – the ability to move the piece to an alternate location if necessary
Gateways to Nature Artist Benefits
Tyler has an affluent, well-educated audience within a region rich in arts and culture. The Philadelphia and Mid-Atlantic region has a well-developed community of patrons and collectors, both private and corporate. Tyler Arboretum attracts over 74,000 visitors a year concentrated from April through October. In 2017, Tyler had visitors from 37 states and 8 foreign countries, with 65% coming from the mid-Atlantic region including New York, SE Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland.
- Exhibitors may receive reimbursement of up to $2000 to assist in fabrication and installation costs.
- Tyler will provide marketing support for the exhibit, including announcement of winners, press releases about the exhibit, and promotion through radio, web and social media. Gateways to Nature will open with an event to which exhibitors may include their invitation list.
- Tyler will create an exhibit webpage with links to exhibitors’ websites and contact information, as requested.
- Tyler will provide insurance for all works in the exhibit once exhibit materials are delivered on site, for the duration of the exhibit.
- Exhibitors work can be provided for sale, loaned to Tyler Arboretum for the duration of the exhibit, or with mutual agreement, donated to Tyler.
- Any and all sales of exhibitors’ work will be handled directly by the exhibitor, with a 25% commission to Tyler. Pieces purchased during the exhibit will remain at Tyler Arboretum for the duration of the exhibition. The exhibitor is solely responsible for delivery of the exhibit to the owner.
- Tyler has a social networks outreach with over 15,500 email recipients, 9250 Facebook followers, 1717 Twitter, 1376 Instagram followers and 80,000 website users.

InLiquid Art & Design announces a call for artists for Art for the Cash Poor, a fabulous annual block party-style event that allows the chance to show and sell work directly to the public in a lively social atmosphere. The 19th installment of InLiquid’s Signature Summer Event, Art for the Cash Poor will be making a special move (this year only) to the Callowhill District in partnership with Arts + Crafts Holdings for a one-day art festival outside-just behind Union Transfer.

They will be featured as a participant of Art for the Cash Poor on the InLiquid website for the remainder of the 2018 calendar year. Vendors will receive a 10 x 10 outdoor space (vendors must provide their own tent). A staggered load-in time will allow for easier transportation of their booth materials.
