[Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] The Susquehanna Art Musuem (SAM) announces a call for artists for their 9th annual juried exhibition, Domestic Affairs. Submit artwork that explores subjects relating to the domestic. In a time when social, political, and familial norms are being revealed and renegotiated on an international scale, the term ‘domestic’ relates to a wide range of topics.
Submitted works may include but are not limited to the following subject matter: the architecture or design of homes, neighborhoods, and cities; domestic labor; gender and social roles; domestic and foreign policies; domesticity; boundaries and borders; indigeneity; political and interpersonal relations; and domestication.

Selected artworks will lean into the complexity of what is considered domestic and offer a nuanced interpretation of the concept. Work in all media is welcome for consideration, and selections will be made based on the applicability to the theme as well as the group of pieces that work best as a whole. SAM is pleased to welcome 2024 juror Cesar Cornejo, Associate Professor of Fine Art at the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds, United Kingdon.
Susquehanna Art Museum offers two awards for Domestic Affairs:
- The Juror’s Choice Prize is selected by the juror, Cesar Cornejo. The artist of the selected piece will be awarded $400.
- The Viewer’s Choice Prize will be awarded to the artwork that receives the most votes by museum visitors throughout the duration of the exhibition. The artist of the winning piece will be awarded $250. Voting for this prize will take place October 9 – December 20, 2024.

Two prizes are available for this exhibition. The Juror’s Choice Prize winner is awarded $400. The Viewer’s Choice Prize winner is awarded $250. The Susquehanna Art Museum welcomes thousands of visitors of all ages throughout this exhibition to learn, explore, and engage with art on view. This exhibition will be used as a teaching tool for the local elementary school students, to which the museum provides weekly art education. This exhibition will be on view during Harrisburg’s annual Gallery Walk event, the museum’s best attended day of the year.

Openings are every second Saturday of the month. Openings draw a big crowd in an intimate space. This offers promotion, exposure, and open discussion among artists and potential buyers.

InLiquid’s long standing event, Art for the Cash Poor, is popular in the Philadelphia art community. It is an affordable art fair with all works priced $200 and below. The audience is made up heavily of curators, gallerists, art consultants, and art collectors. The event has been recognized, over the years, as a go-to place to find affordable art. It is an opportunity for people at all points to start collecting art or add to their art collection. While this event is specifically targeted toward affordable art, many artists have gained additional opportunities including commissions, exhibitions, and gallery representation.
- Affordable block-party style art sale that directly benefits visual artists, designers, and craftspeople
- Average attendance is 2k – 3k each year
- All work priced $200 and below
- All proceeds from sales go directly to the artists
- Open to artists, designers, and crafters who make and produce their own work
All participants are screened for quality and how they fit in with the event, submission does not guarantee acceptance. Artists may share a booth space at a discounted rate per each artist. Each artist must be screened and accepted individually (InLiquid will not match artists for shared spaces).
*The 0.6 mile span will ensure that participants and attendees can spread out accordingly to create the proper space needed in order to ensure safe social distancing. The event will be set up so as to follow all CDC Guidelines. Details and requirements might be subject to change given City and State requirements.

The Lansdowne Arts Festival has been an annual local favorite, celebrating arts and music in Lansdowne since 2003. In 2016, the popular event expanded. Moving outside, the new Lansdowne Arts on the Avenue Festival features live music, artists, performances, demonstrations, activities for the kids, food trucks, and a beer garden. In 2019, the festival began taking place during Delco Arts week, in partnership with The Delaware County Arts Consortium. A collaboration of cultural groups working to advance the economic vitality of the nonprofit arts and culture community and promote the value of cultural resources to the local community.

Through art and creative expression, the exhibit will shine a light on:
- Man-made issues that pose a threat to our planet (litter, global warming, pesticides, GMOs, water pollution, overfishing, deforestation, fracking)
- Environmental disasters (tsunamis, hurricanes, oil spills, smog, nuclear meltdowns)
- Ideas for solutions (solar and wind energy, biofuels, reduced carbon footprint, recycling, tree planting, organic farming)

Main Line Health announces a call for artists for the annual, international juried Art Ability exhibition and sale, a twelve-week event featuring art and fine crafts by artists with physical, cognitive, hearing and visual impairments. It is the largest and most comprehensive exhibition of its kind in the nation.
Art Ability at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital is a year-round program which serves as a showcase and marketplace for talented artists. The program educates the community about the remarkable abilities of people with disabilities and inspires artists to reach beyond their limitations and explore their own creativity.

The exhibit will be on display from November 2020 through January 2021 in the corridors of the hospital and open to the public based on current visitor policies. In light of the current pandemic, Main Line Health has decided to pivot the annual Preview Reception and Dinner & Auction events to a virtual format. As Main Line Health celebrates Art Ability’s 25th year, they invite you to join them for the livestream virtual Kick-Off Party on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Proceeds of the Art Ability opening receptions help support Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital patient and community programs.
Participating artists express their creativity through painting, photography, sculpture, fiber arts, stained glass, jewelry and fine crafts. Through these creative modes of expression, artists are able to convey their talent, receive recognition for their work, and often further progress in recovering from a life-altering illness or injury.
Distinguished members of the Greater Philadelphia arts community award prizes in each media category. Each accepted work is eligible for prizes of up to $1,000 per piece. More than $7,000 in prizes will be awarded. Artists earn 80 percent of their sales of exhibited work.
