Gallery Underground is a nonprofit juried art gallery run by the Arlington Artists Alliance. It is an exciting gathering place for artists and the greater local community. The gallery makes 2D and 3D art accessible and promotes the works of all levels of artists. [Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] Michigan Medicine is seeking submissions for the Gifts of Art Program, solo and group art exhibits for the September 2023 to August 2024 exhibition year. One of the first and most comprehensive arts in healthcare programs in the nation, Gifts of Art brings the world of art and music to Michigan Medicine at the University of Michigan. The nine 2-D and 3-D galleries throughout the medical center are viewed by approximately 10,000 people a day and display over 30 exhibits a year.

With a large and diverse faculty, staff, patient, guest, and learner population, the Gifts of Art exhibition program strives to be inclusive and honor this diversity by mounting exhibits that reflect our community and today’s world.
The artwork in Gifts of Art’s nine galleries changes quarterly and represents a broad range of styles, mediums, forms, and subjects. Enjoy an ever-changing sampling of the best art the region has to offer.
All exhibits are available both in-person (for those who work, are approved visitors, or have an appointment on the main medical campus) and online.
Gifts of Art has created two fine art coloring books featuring designs by former exhibiting artists, local and national artists and designers, and U-M Penny W. Stamps Art and Design students. It shares about 25,000 fine art coloring books a year with Michigan Medicine patients, families, and visitors.

All artwork must be the exact dimensions 8 x 10 inches (oriented either horizontally or vertically) and may not exceed more than 3 inches off the wall). Accepted mediums include paintings, drawings, and collages. Artwork must be professionally presented and ready to hang securely on a wall with hanging wire. Any artwork without hanging hardware may not be accepted for exhibition on arrival.
Artists may submit up to three works for consideration. Early bird entry fee is $15 for submissions received before March 19th and $25 for submissions received thereafter through April 23rd. Artists will be notified via email about their artwork submission by Saturday, April 29th. Accepted artwork will need to be delivered or shipped to the gallery no later than Saturday, May 20th.

A Juror’s Choice Award and two honorable mentions will be selected by guest juror Haylee Barsky, the curator and founder of Visionary Projects in New York, New York.
Haylee Barsky is an independent curator and designer. She is the founder and curator of Visionary Projects, an international art platform and community established in 2018 to make contemporary art and creativity accessible and inclusive. Haylee received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and Photography with a Master’s degree in Art Marketing from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, New York, and has worked in the creative departments for Tom Ford, Nylon Magazine, and Moda Operandi.
The exhibition is on view May 26 – June 24, 2023. An Opening Reception will be held on Friday, May 26, 6-9PM at Voss Gallery (3344 24th St., San Francisco, CA 94110). Gallery hours are Wednesday – Saturday, 12:00 – 6:00 PM or by appointment.
Aside from being promoted on the curator and gallery’s social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter) and newsletter (+7K subscribers), selected artists will have the opportunity to showcase their artwork at Voss Gallery. Artists are encouraged to attend and meet collectors at the opening reception. Artists will also have the opportunity for two art curators to view their artwork during the selection process, where there is an opportunity for future collaborations and gallery representation.

[Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] The Art League of Hilton Head announces a call for artists for the 2023 Biennale Exhibition. This national juried exhibition is held every other year and features multiple media types including oil, acrylic, pastel, watermedia, photography, mixed media, and three-dimensional art.
Entries must be original in concept, composition, and execution. Artwork created under the supervision of an instructor is not eligible. Artwork must not be copied in part or wholly from any published or copyrighted work. Giclées are not acceptable. Jewelry art will not be accepted in this exhibit. Any entry considered offensive or not meeting exhibition criteria may be rejected by the Exhibition Committee at its sole discretion.

The Biennale Exhibition is open to US visual artists, 18 years or older.

All entries will be juried from a digital image. Each artist may enter up to three pieces of original artwork created within the last three years and never accepted into an Art League of Hilton Head juried show before. Only one piece of art per artist will be accepted into the show.
All information provided on the original entry as to title, size, and the price will be accepted as final. No changes may be made once accepted into the show. Please consider the gallery commission when pricing your artwork. All exhibited work must be for sale and priced with the intent to sell. A 40% commission to Art League of Hilton Head Island will be retained on all sales that occur during the show or as a result of the show.
All works must be quality framed and protected by Plexiglas where appropriate. Only pastel pieces may be covered with glass. Each piece should be securely wired and ready for hanging. Pieces may not exceed 60″ x 60″ including the frame or weigh more than 30 pounds.
Sculptures and other three-dimensional art must not exceed 48″ x 48″ x 48” vertical or weigh more than 30 pounds. Freestanding sculptures should not need special mounting. Small works may be enclosed in a clear plastic case. Bas-reliefs must be wired for hanging.
All 2D pieces must be hung via a metal artwork wire. Art League of Hilton Head reserves the right to exclude accepted work should its size or weight differ from its representation in the initial submission.
Accepted artworks can be hand-delivered May 13 and 14, 2023, from 12:00 – 4:00 PM or shipped to Art League Gallery by Friday, May 12.
Any unsold artwork can be picked up in person or returned via UPS. The artist is responsible for all UPS packaging and shipping charges.
Juror
The 28th Biennale Exhibition Judge, Aline Ordman, received her BFA at Cornell University, and continued her training at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, earning a degree in Illustration.
“My goal as an artist is to find those times and places where beauty is not only evident but startling and suddenly present.”
Aline is a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America, a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society, a signature member of the Oil Painters of America, and a Master Circle Pastelist with the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS). She has juried for the Pastel Society of America’s National Juried show, The Pastel Journal’s Top 100 Animal and Wildlife Competition, the Pastel Society of New Mexico’s Annual Juried Show, and the Adirondack Plein Air Festival Awards.
She was featured in an article in the February issue of the Pastel Journal and has been honored with awards at the 33rd, 34th, and 38th Annual Juried Shows of the Pastel Society of America in New York City. Aline has won awards several times in the Top 100 Pastels issues of the Pastel Journal. Her work has been accepted in national juried shows of the American Impressionist Society, The Pastel Society of America, and the Oil Painters of America. Aline teaches workshops throughout the country and in Europe. She is represented by Camden Falls Gallery in Camden, Maine; Blue Heron Gallery in Wellfleet, MA; Brickhouse Gallery, VT; and Little Gallery in Mackinac, MI.
Biennale Exhibition Awards
Over $5,000 in cash prizes will be awarded. All accepted works of art selected by three jurors will be on display at the Art League Gallery inside the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This state-of-the-art gallery provides the finest exhibit space with high tourist and community visibility.
Art League of Hilton Head will host an awards reception for artists, sponsors, Art League members, and the general public on May 19, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.

Art League of Hilton Head is the only 501(c)(3) nonprofit visual arts organization on Hilton Head Island with a synergistic art gallery and teaching academy. The Academy Academy welcomes artists and students in all media at all skill levels, including true beginners. Work on projects that may include printmaking, letterpress, papermaking, and book arts, in addition to assisting with the ongoing operations of the facility. Studio interns are crucial participants in WSW’s creative community.

This intern works directly with WSW’s Managing Director and Digital Content Manager and gains experience working on the operational side of an established nonprofit arts organization. The intern will undertake projects relating to public relations, marketing, fundraising, event planning, and arts administration.
Paid Internships Benefits
All internships include a private room in WSW’s on-campus Anne Atwood House and a stipend of $600/month. Interns work 40 hours/week, generally Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, but the schedule may change to accommodate the Workshop’s programming.
Interns have access to the studios for their own work outside of regular working hours and with respect to studio programming. The internship session culminates in a group exhibition of work created during the term.
Interns are able to contribute to the WSW community and learn from artists at the tops of their fields.

[Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] The Decatur Arts Alliance announces a call for artists for Small Changes, the 34th Annual Decatur Fine Arts Exhibition. Submit 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional media for consideration in this juried multimedia presentation to be held May 4 – June 16, 2023 in conjunction with the Decatur Arts Festival.
The Fine Arts Exhibition returns in 2023—with a few Small Changes. First, a change of location: the downtown Decatur public library has beautifully renovated the fourth floor into a spacious gallery. This prime location and extended hours will improve accessibility to the Fine Arts Exhibition. Second, the time of year: the Decatur Arts Festival is now presented during the first full weekend of May, a time with generally temperate weather. Finally, the exhibition will now center around an annual theme. In celebration of these Small Changes, this year’s exhibition will feature artwork that is *no larger than 24 inches in any direction.*

Small Changes Artist Benefits
The Decatur Arts Festival draws approximately 60,000 people to downtown Decatur, Georgia, for a celebration of the arts that includes a juried Artists Market; Kids’ Fest; performance stages celebrating theatre, dance, comedy, spoken word, and music; and the Fine Arts Exhibition. This large audience represents a broad spectrum of knowledge and appreciation of the arts, and the Fine Arts Exhibition addresses this spectrum with a diversity of styles and media. Works selected for the show reflect a wide range of artists’ experiences and viewpoints, with excellence as a common thread.
Awards:
- Best of Show: $1,000
- Gold Award: $700
- Silver Award: $500
Purchase awards totaling $2,500 are selected by the City of Decatur for inclusion in its public art collection.
Sales are encouraged. The Decatur Arts Alliance handles all sales and collects a 25% commission on all artwork sold as a result of this exhibition. All artwork for sale must be priced by the artist and so stated in the entry. Please be sure to include the 25% commission for the Decatur Arts Alliance in your price. The 8% Georgia sales tax will be added at the point of sale. Sales from the Fine Art Exhibition have increased each year and works from the exhibition have been added to private, corporate, and non-profit collections.
