In an effort to maintain best gallery practices, ACS implements the following rules and regulations for this juried exhibition.
Awards will be decided by the jurors, Carl Abbott – FAIA, award winning local architect and member of the Sarasota School of Architecture, and Noelle McCleaf – photographer exploring themes of memory, relationship, and identity in the landscape of South Florida.

Art Center Sarasota was the first arts and cultural institution in Sarasota, FL. It was founded in 1926 as the “Sarasota Art Association” by Marcia Rader, the art supervisor for the Sarasota County schools district. In the early years, the group met monthly and sponsored exhibits in rented facilities. The Association was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1943. It has been in its current location in the Sarasota Bayfront Cultural District since 1949.

The City of Winter Park is issuing a request for proposals for an I-4 Entrance Feature, an iconic piece of public art or architecture as part of the I-4 Ultimate Art Endowment. The artwork should be located by the West Fairbanks Avenue I-4 entrance into Winter Park due to the very limited right of way at the Lee Road entrance.

The proposal must be for an original, welcoming artwork or architectural feature that relates to the amenities, history, charm and exciting future of Winter Park. The proposal must be for an artwork or architectural feature appropriate for permanent exhibition in the outdoor public realm. The selection must be appropriate and durable for Florida’s harsh environment. The artwork or architectural piece must be readable from cars and engaging for pedestrians. Winter Park is especially interested in supporting central Florida based artists and /or architects.
Location: The city holds a 12.5 foot partial easement at the road edge of the open space located by the northeast side of the West Fairbanks Avenue eastbound on ramp to I-4. The artwork is required to be located near I-4. This site offers a good opportunity for a larger or more complex artwork.
Budget: The budget for the complete project including research and development, construction, engineering, installation, and artist fee is $150,000.00. The city may provide in-kind services to be determined based on the selected proposal. The payment schedule will be negotiated with the selected artist/architect upon selection.
Artist Eligibility: Preference may be given to state and central Florida based artists. The artist, architect, or team must warrant that the artwork being commissioned is the original product of its own creative efforts; unless otherwise expressly stated in the proposal, the artwork is original; and a single edition that the artist(s) shall not reproduce, or allow others to do so without the City’s permission. The City has an unlimited, perpetual, and irrevocable right to use or reproduce the artwork in any non-commercial or commercial manner media whatsoever, including without limitation to prepare derivative works based upon the artwork and to distribute copies or images of the artwork.
I-4 Entrance Feature Selection Process
The City of Winter Park Public Art will review the submitted proposals and select 1-3 for departmental review. The recommendation will be presented to the City Commission for final selection. I-4 Mobility Partners and the I-4 Ultimate Endowment Committee, consisting of representatives from I-4 Mobility Partners, FDOT, and SGL Constructors, will have the final right of refusal over the design, placement, and content of such art installations to ensure that any proposed installations do not interfere with I-4 Ultimate project infrastructure or maintenance and that such concepts capture he spirit and character of the I-4 Ultimate Project and the community at large.

The Carrollwood Cultural Center is a family facility so no blatant violence, guns, or nudity. Your art work must be original. The Center accepts 2D and limited 3D creations including watercolor, acrylic, oil, assemblage, encaustic, mixed media, sculpture, and photography. Large works, up to 50 inches in any direction, are ideal. Work may not be smaller than 8 in x 10 in. There are limited pedestals for 3D works. Very heavy pieces may require special handling. Small works are fine as long as they are framed properly.

The Gallery at Carrollwood Cultural Center has the largest gallery wall space available in Hillsborough County, Florida, with a main gallery, lobby gallery, corridor gallery, atrium gallery, and two alcove galleries.
The main gallery space of the Carrollwood Cultural Center is housed in the main theatre of the building and, at times, in the lobby. The Center serves the community by offering arts-based enrichment classes, live concerts and staged performances, community events, social gatherings, and summer camps, resulting in of thousands of people served each month.
The Center currently has a mailing distribution of approximately 3,000 addresses, an e-mail list of approximately 8,000 addresses, and a growing social media audience.
About The Carrollwood Cultural Center
The magic of the Carrollwood Cultural Center began several years ago with a special partnership between Hillsborough County and the Friends of Carrollwood Cultural Center (FCCC), a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents through arts and culture. Together, the county and the FCCC worked to renovate St. Mark’s Episcopal Church into the creative center it is today.
Located in the heart of Carrollwood Village, the campus includes a 26,000 sq. ft. main building complete with a stage, dance floor, art studios, computer lab, and conference rooms as well as a sister building, The Studio, which provides additional space for classes, performances, room rentals, and gallery displays.
Open since March 2008, the Center is the result of the successful partnership that began so many years ago. The building, owned by Hillsborough County, and the operations, managed by the FCCC, is a perfect partnership that hopefully will be emulated elsewhere throughout the country.
