Interactive Mural (Venice, FL) – Call For Artists

Venice MainStreet is holding a contest for an interactive mural in Historic Downtown Venice, Florida. The mural will be located predominately downtown for hundreds of thousands of yearly visitors to see. Work must be completed by June 14, 2019. A Visit Florida grant will pay for a portion of this project.

Create an interactive mural that encourages people to take a picture with the image and share on social media. It must fit in with the ambiance of Historic Downtown Venice and advertise Venice, FL. Concept should include details on scope of pay, maintenance expectations, artist bio with images of past work, and the materials to be used. Theme: 3-D action image fitting to Venice in the time period of 1920s and the 1930s. A committee will choose the winning artwork by April 5, 2019.

Interactive Mural Artist Benefits

The artist will receive the credit and recognition of the artwork and financial compensation for their time and efforts. Financial compensation amount is yet to be determined.

Main Streets follow a structured approach called “the four point approach.” This was created in the 1980s by the National Main Street Center in response to nationwide large commercial shopping malls which threatened historic downtowns. VMS was formed by a partnership between the The Downtown Venice Association, City of Venice, the Venice Area Chamber of Commerce, and historic enthusiasts in 1987.

ArtsQuest Fine Arts Festival 2019 Artist Benefits

ArtsQuest awards $10,000 in cash prizes. Jurying is by art industry professionals. Awards are given in multiple categories based on the Judges’ scoring of each artist’s body of work as displayed in the booth. Categories include Best in Show (1st, 2nd, 3rd), Awards of Excellence, Judge’s Choice, Awards of Merit, Best Booth, and a Cultural Arts Alliance Member Tent Best In Show.

Previous year award winners from the festival do not need to submit a jury fee the year following their win. They will be automatically admitted into ArtsQuest show the year following their win should they meet the application deadline.

Artist amenities, staff/volunteer attention to details, and artists’ needs are considered exceptional.

Carrollwood Cultural Center announces a call for artists for Women Who Take Joyful Ownership (of their Value in the World), an art exhibition dedicated to works that primarily refer to women and young ladies who have changed the world through their inner strength, perseverance, determination, courage, vulnerability, uniqueness, and raw love. These women have made every day changes with grace, humility, integrity, and joy in their hearts. The exhibit will be in the Gallery at Carrollwood Cultural Center in Tampa, Florida in May 2019.

Carrollwood Cultural Center accepts 2D and 3D creations including watercolor, acrylic, oil, assemblage, encaustic, mixed media, sculpture, and photography. All work must be original. This call is open to all living artists within the state of Florida who are 15 years or older. Up to five entries may be submitted. Pricing structure is as follows: 1 piece = $20; 2 = $35; 3 = $45; and 5 = $60.

The Gallery gives artists the opportunity to display in Hillsborough County’s largest gallery. Awards for Women Who Take Joyful Ownership will be given for first, second, third, and up to three honorable mentions. Awards will be giving during the open reception on May 10, 2019.

Artfest 2019 – Call For Artists

The Venice-Nokomis Rotary club announces a call for artists for the 27th annual Artfest 2019, to be held 1/19/19 – 1/20/19 in beautiful Venice, FL. This two-day event features 100 artists, live music, children’s area, car shows, food trucks, and beer and wine. It is the largest fundraiser for the Venice-Nokomis Rotary club, with annual attendance in the thousands. The grounds are ample. Artists can park and stay behind their exhibits. The club provides overnight security. Many artists choose to stay on the property in their motor homes or campers.

Beautiful and historic Venice, FL is located on the Gulf of Mexico. It is a very popular winter destination for tourists and snowbirds alike. The Venice-Nokomis Rotary 27th annual Artfest 2019 is one of the premier events to showcase artistic talent.

Prizes are awarded for: Best in Show, Category prizes, and Merit awards. In addition to cash prizes, Venice-Nokomis Rotary provides free lunch on Saturday. This year, the club is partnering with the City of Venice Public Works Department in a family friendly RoadEO, which will boost attendance by several thousand.

Venice-Nokomis Rotary is the largest Rotary International group in the Venice area. The Artfest is their biggest annual fundraiser. Proceeds are dedicated to local youth organizations and non-profits. ArtCenter Manatee proudly presents the 19th Annual Fine Arts Festival of Manatee County, a juried two day outdoor festival that takes place in Downtown Bradenton at the beautiful Riverwalk Park on the Manatee River. February 23, 2019, 9-5 pm and February 24, 2019, 9-4 pm. The Riverwalk Park is a 1.5 mile linear park with an outside gallery of 19 pieces of art created by 5 artists. The show features regional and national award winning artists, artist demos, shopping, music, and food vendors. Admission and parking are free and open to the public. The proceeds of the festival benefit ArtCenter Manatee’s Education and Out Reach programs.

All booths measure 12′ x 12′ to accommodate a 10′ x 10′ tent. All tents must be white; no exceptions. Please do not attempt to enter the area for set up before 12:00 pm. Electricity is not provided. Carrollwood Cultural Center announces a call for artists for the Black and White Art Show, an art exhibition that showcases the powerful, yet graceful, restraint required for creating art using only a black and white palette. While the subject matter is open, the color palette is limited to tones of black, grays, and white. Original works only.

Artists are invited to enter up to three works at $15 each for the Black And White Art Show. Space is limited. The Center is a family-friendly facility; therefore, they cannot accept work with blatant violence, guns/weapons, or nudity. The exhibition is open to all living artists within the state of Florida. Large works (50″ in any direction) are ideal. Small works are fine as long as they are framed properly. Limited pedestals for 3-dimensional pieces are available.

C3 Art Show – Call For Artists

Carrollwood Cultural Center announces a call for artists for the C3 Art Show including expressive works encompassing visual stories of cultures and worldly people living authentically within their environment. The Gallery accepts 2D and limited 3D pieces including watercolor, acrylic, oil, photography, etchings, assemblage, encaustic, mixed media, and sculpture. This call is open to all living artists within the state of Florida who are 18 years and older.

The Carrollwood Cultural Center is a family-friendly facility; therefore, artwork for the C3 Art Show cannot include blatant violence, guns, or nudity. All art must be original and have been completed within the last three years. Large works, up to 50″, are ideal. Smaller works are acceptable as long as they are properly framed. An artist may enter up to five pieces. The entry fee is $15 per piece. Artwork must be delivered on October 29, between 2 and 6 p.m.

The Gallery is a great place for professional artists to showcase their work in an area with high foot traffic. The Center partners with local schools, groups, art organizations, and artists by providing the opportunity to showcase their work in an venue. An artist reception and awards ceremony for the C3 Art Show is scheduled for November 2. Art pick-up will be November 26 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Sculpture On The Lawn 2018 – Call For Artists

The Orange County Arts and Cultural Affairs invites artists to submit work for the fourth annual Sculpture on the Lawn 2018 exhibition, an outdoor display featured at the entrance to the Orange County Administration Center (201 S. Rosalind Ave) in the heart of downtown Orlando, Florida. The works are visible to approximately 10,000 people daily. Sculpture on the Lawn is open to sculptors who specialize in the design, construction, and installation of outdoor sculptures. Up to four sculptures will be selected for display from October 2018 to September 2019. One of the sculptures will be selected from a student or emerging artist, if suitable.

The theme of Diversitastic! has been added to the Sculpture On The Lawn 2018. The Orange County Arts and Cultural Affairs welcomes large-scale sculptures that celebrate diversity in our communities and the interweaving of different backgrounds, cultures, and religions. The theme supports the inaugural FusionFest, November 24 and 25, 2018, a free celebration in downtown Orlando, supported by Orange County Government.

The three main considerations are creativity, site appropriateness, and durability. Selected artists must transport the artwork to the site on the specified date and install it with minimal assistance, then remove the artwork after the exhibition. Orange County provides 12-by-12-foot concrete pads. Sculptures must be firmly secured to the pads. There is a 6-foot minimum height preference. The sky is the limit for the maximum height.

Timeline

  • Notification of acceptance: August 10, 2018
  • Installation time frame: October 1 to 12, 2018
  • Opening celebration: October 19, 2018, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Sculpture removal: October 1 to 11, 2019

Sculpture On The Lawn 2018 Artist Benefits

Each artist will be awarded $3,500 as a fee for the annual loan of his or her artwork and to help offset any necessary transportation, installation, and housing costs. No other compensation will be provided. A payment of $3,000 will be made upon installation and $500 will be paid upon removal. Orange County will insure the artwork up to its stated value or $50,000, whichever is less, for theft or major vandalism. The artist will be responsible for any repairs needed due to fabrication defects or reasonable wear and tear of the object in a public location. Sales of the works will be encouraged and promoted. Any sales inquiries will be forwarded to the artist or designated agent. No commission will be charged. Sculptures must remain on site until September 2019.

The festival takes place in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin’s Town Center. It is home to large-scale events such as the 30A Songwriters Festival and South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival. Located along the Scenic Hwy 98 Corridor, Grand Boulevard is easily accessible from regional drive and fly markets. These include Houston, Memphis, Atlanta, Nashville, Birmingham, Mobile, Pensacola, and Tallahassee.

ArtsQuest is the kick-off event for Art Week South Walton, an initiative of the CAA.
