Colors Of The Night – Call For Artists

Smithtown Township Arts Council invites submissions for its upcoming 2017 national juried fine art exhibition, Colors of the Night at Mills Pond Gallery.

Call for artists application / registration

Deadline: 30 Jun 2017

Exhibition Dates: August 19 -Sept. 30

Juror/Judge Tim Newton. This exhibition/competition will encompass all varieties of nocturnal art including twilight/dusk, dawn, urban, interiors, landscapes, and figures. No subject is off limits. Judging will be based on originality/creativity, good design, and skillful execution within your medium. Open to USA artists age 18 or older. All media considered except photography and computer generated art. Entry fee $45 for up to three images.

Colors Of The Night awards:

  • $1,000 Best of Show
  • $500 Second Place
  • $250 Third Place.

Selected artists will have their work posted on the Smithtown Township Arts Council website and in the gallery. The exhibition will be widely marketed on Long Island and in NY press.

About Smithtown Township Arts Council

Smithtown Township Arts Council is a 501 c 3 non profit organization. Proceeds from entry fees are invested back into local communities to present art exhibits, teach art classes, and present art programs. The gallery is in a historic building which is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. Smithtown Township Arts Council exists to integrate the arts into the fabric of everyday life on Long Island. A fundamental goal of this organization is to show how the arts inspire, educate, cause positive change, and generally improve the quality of life for the residents of the communities we serve.

Adding an important dimension to our lives, the arts make us unique, record our lives, provide forum for debate, improve education, create community engagement, and encourage multicultural expression. The Historic Mills Pond House provides a creative outlet and the opportunity to experience, investigate, and discover contemporary art cultural issues which are engaging and relevant to the public’s daily lives and civic responsibilities. The Arts Council offers programs for families and children that invite active and collaborative learning through the arts. They engage participants in arts experiences that connect them to the performers and creative minds who enrich their lives.

The Fine Art of Illustration – Call For Artists

Smithtown Township Arts Council seeks entries for The Fine Art of Illustration juried fine art exhibition to be held at the Mills Pond Gallery.

Call for artists application / registration

Deadline: 9 Dec 2016

  • Exhibit dates: January 21 – February 19, 2017
  • Open to USA artists 18 and older
  • $45 for 3 entries
  • Juror: William Low

Working illustrators should submit published illustrations that transcends the commercial needs of the commissioning client – work that can stand independently in a fine art exhibition setting. We are excited to feature a fine art exhibition of one of the most versatile art forms in today’s visual culture.

$500 for First Place and $200 for Second Place. Selected artists will have work exhibited with 70% of sales going to the artist.

Home – Photography Call for Artists

Smithtown Township Arts Council announces a call for artists for the 35th Annual Juried Photography Exhibition, Home, at the Mills Pond Gallery.

Deadline: 3 Aug 2016

Application fee: $45 for 3 entries.

Exhibit theme is Home. Home can be a place you are from, or a place you have moved to. Home can be found in the face of a loved one, or an object you find comfort in. This call for entry is open to all photography mediums, with consideration that the medium of photography is part of the message. Which medium best conveys your sense of home – is it digital, analog, mixed media?

Exhibit dates: September 24 – October 23, 2016.

Juror: Lisa Elmaleh.

Cash awards:

  • 1st: $400
  • 2nd: $200
  • Winners exhibit opportunity
