Water (Online Photography Competition) – Call For Artists

Water (Online Photography Competition) – Call For Artists

[Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] The New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA) announces a call for artists for Water, an online photography competition.

“Water under the bridge.” “Water water everywhere.” So many sayings and songs reference water. It is a critical concern in our environment and central to much of our lives. In addition, it is beautiful to photograph. This call is about how you, the photographer, capture water. Is it a thundering waterfall, glistening droplets from a puppy shaking itself off, a surfer caught in the curl, or a reflection in a city pond? Maybe you used a slow shutter to create the soft image of flowing water in a stream, teardrops, raindrops, dew drops, ice floes, waterfalls, rapids, or serene lakes. The list goes on. Black and white, color, abstract, and all 2D mediums are welcome.

About Contemporary Art Gallery Online

Contemporary Art Gallery Online was created in 2001 to be the ultimate meeting place for the sharing of art. Their purpose is to create a platform whereby artists can display and ultimately sell their work. They encourage the exploration and discussion of art, as well as support those who create it.

Contemporary Art Gallery Online is a collector’s number 1 source for all original contemporary art. CAGOnline is proud to showcase Tomorrow’s Art Giants, Today. CAGOnline created CAGO Media to showcase talented artists. CAGO Media has two purposes. First is to share art business ideas, and second to introduce artists to the buying public. CAGO Media accomplishes both of these initiatives by producing radio and TV show programming. The Business of Art Show airs bi-monthly in 15-to-20-minute episodes. Hosted by Sharon Belle Hawkshawe, each episode discusses everything pertaining to the Business of Art. The What is Art Show is a monthly 30-minute episode with hosts Michael Harris (art collector) and Sharon Hawkshawe (acclaimed artist), who discuss current art movements and art shows. The hosts are joined occasionally by museum curators, gallery owners, art critics, and art insiders.

Contemporary Art Gallery Online specializes in the contemporary art form. Contemporary art is defined as artistic work from the present era that uses the current practices and styles of its discipline. Although the words Modern Art and Contemporary Art are used interchangeably, they do represent two distinctive moments on the art timeline. Modern Art encompasses the art from the Impressionists (around 1880) up until the 1970’s. Contemporary Art encompasses the art from the 1970’s to present.

Stormdrain Sidewalk Mural Project (Tualatin, OR) – Call For Artists

Stormdrain Sidewalk Mural Project (Tualatin, OR) – Call For Artists

Tualatin Riverkeepers and the City of Tualatin seek artists to design and paint for the Stormdrain Sidewalk Mural Project n Tualatin, Oregon. The goal of these sidewalk mural(s) is to raise awareness of stormdrains as a connection to Tualatin River water quality.

Click here for the application / registration

Deadline: 14 Jun 2019

This artwork will work as a bilingual educational tool to remind the public that stormdrains drain directly to the waterways we use in our everyday life as drinking water and for recreation. Stormdrains connect urban areas to creeks, streams, and the Tualatin River through a system of pipes, drains, and culverts. They are located along streets and next to sidewalks. They collect stormwater from the surrounding impervious surfaces and direct it to nearby waterways. Stormdrains often blend into the surrounding urban infrastructure and are often forgotten about. The goal of this project is to bring awareness of these important urban features and the role they play in water quality.

Designs should incorporate an environmental theme, colors, and include the text: Drains to Tualatin River in English and another language of artist’s choice. Designs can also include images, icons, and symbols unique to the City of Tualatin and/or the Pacific Northwest. Mural should be no more than 4′ by 6′.

Stormdrain Sidewalk Mural Project Artist Requirements

  1. Submit a design proposal in PDF format.
  2. Attend and participate in at least two community events in Tualatin.
  3. Attend three meetings with Tualatin Riverkeepers and City of Tualatin staff. One prior to painting mural, one during painting of the mural, and a wrap-up meeting.

Stormdrain Sidewalk Mural Project artists will be notified by June 21st, 2019. Mural installation will take place in the summer of 2019. Selected artists will receive a commission of $750 USD after the completion of the mural. All materials will be supplied.

About Tualatin Riverkeepers

Tualatin Riverkeepers (TRK) is a community-based organization that protects and restores the Tualatin River watershed. They build watershed stewardship through engagement, advocacy, restoration, access, and education. At first glance, stormdrains and their unglamorous job of transporting stormwater runoff do not seem like catalysts for environmental activism. Yet, TRK has embraced stormdrains as canvasses to raise awareness about local water quality.  Tualatin Riverkeepers hopes these murals will strengthen the ties between communities living along the Tualatin River. This artwork serves as a multilingual educational tool to remind the public that stormdrains carry urban runoff (e.g. oil, lawn chemicals, trash, pollutants) directly to the waterways we use in everyday life for drinking and recreation.
