[Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center announces a call for artists to submit original artworks to POP! Art with Mass Appeal. This juried exhibition seeks to showcase artworks that capture the essence of, or provide commentary on, pop art’s evolution in the digital age. Artists are encouraged to delve into the vibrant world of popular media and consumer culture. Explore how it shapes and redefines our views on each other, society, and the world. From traditional pop art aesthetics, to internet memes, viral fame, music and television references, popular animation and illustration styles, and logos and icons, Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center invites artists to interpret this theme with creativity, imagination, satire, and/or a sense of humor.

This show seeks art that embraces bold colors, dynamic compositions, and a graphic style that defines the heart of pop art. Whether through traditional mediums or digital formats, Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center is looking for artwork that visually resonates with the energy, intensity, and even the absurdity of contemporary popular culture.
POP! Art with Mass Appeal is open to all media. 2-D, 3-D, indoor, and outdoor artwork will be considered. Digital artists must provide all display equipment, but please be aware the gallery is full of windows and natural light. Projections don’t work well in the space. All work must be created within the last four years. Artists must be 18 years or older. Artists must be living and working in the United States.
POP! Art With Mass Appeal Artist Benefits
This exhibition will be open to the public in the Kay Daugherty Gallery of Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center from May 3, 2024, to September 22, 2024.
Artists have the opportunity to exhibit and sell work in the beautiful Kay Daugherty gallery. Exhibitions are promoted through social media, the gallery’s website, MSAC, and targeted advertisements. Foot traffic for galleries during the months this show will be on display averages 7,500 people.
Funding for shipping is avaliable via a scholarship application.
Three Juror awards are chosen with each exhibition. The Juror is Teri Towler, Director of Collections at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Gardens.
About Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center
Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center is located in scenic Solomons, Maryland, where the Patuxent River meets the Chesapeake Bay. The sculpture garden features a shady walking path that meanders through the woods past permanent and loaned sculpture, including over thirty works on loan from the Smithsonian Institution and the National Gallery of Art. Artists in the collection include: Antonio Tobias Mendez, Barbara Hepworth, Cesar, Robert Engman, Jean Arp, Kenneth Snelson and Fransisco Zuniga. Young guests can frolic in the Fairy Lolly Creative Play Space and explore the many trails, including the Tree-mendous Trail.
The award-winning Arts Building includes rotating exhibition space, the Nature Nook, the artLAB Creative Reuse Studio, the Annmarie Gift Shop, and lovely wrap around patios. Annmarie presents a variety of popular annual festivals, rotating exhibitions, family activities, and creative public programs. The Studio School offers classes for all ages and abilities – from pottery to dance – taught by professional artists and arts educators.
