Rhythm: Movement in Art Exhibition (Solomons, MD) – Call For Artists

[Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center announces a call for artists to submit original artwork to the Rhythm: Movement In Art exhibition.

This exhibition will examine how artists capture, interpret, and evoke movement through visual rhythm. From the fluidity of gestures to the pulse of repeated forms, and from the suggestion of physical motion to the sensation of energetic flow, this exhibit celebrates artworks that embody momentum, dynamic flow, and cadence.

Kinetic sculpture and other motion-based works are encouraged, especially those that physically manifest the exhibition’s themes of rhythm and movement. Works may reference rhythm found in nature, the human body, architecture, sound, or purely abstract movement, but the central focus remains on how artists create the feeling of motion through visual means. Viewers will be encouraged to experience how visual art can reflect the beats, patterns, and motions that animate the world around us.

Berlin Art Week: Artist Benefits

  • The Right Audience: During Berlin Art Week, the city is filled with exactly the people artists need to reach: international collectors, curators, gallery owners, art critics, and dedicated art lovers. These individuals are actively seeking new talent and contemporary art.
  • High-Impact Visibility: A digital billboard is a dynamic and unmissable format. It’s far more impactful than a small image in a magazine or a post in a crowded social media feed. It places the art in the public realm, demanding attention.
  • Broad Public Reach: Beyond the art world professionals, the work will be seen by thousands of residents and tourists, dramatically increasing the artist’s name recognition.

About ArtSeen

ArtSeen is interesting because they directly address one of the biggest challenges in the contemporary art world: access. For decades, the path to gaining recognition has been controlled by a handful of expensive and exclusive systems, primarily the traditional art fair. Here’s what makes ArtSeen interesting and innovative:

  • Democratise High-Stakes Visibility: The traditional art world often runs on who you know and how much you can afford to spend. A booth at a major art fair can cost an artist or gallery thousands, or even tens of thousands, of pounds. By using digital billboards, ArtSeen offers artists a high-impact presence at these same crucial events for a tiny fraction of the cost. It shifts the focus from an artist’s financial resources to the strength of their work.
  • Turn the City Itself into a Gallery: ArtSeen believes art shouldn’t be confined to the quiet, and sometimes intimidating, white walls of a gallery. By placing art on public digital screens, we create unexpected, powerful encounters with creativity in the urban landscape. This takes art to the people, not the other way around. A collector walking to a meeting, a curator on their way to a fair, or a member of the public on their daily commute can be stopped in their tracks by a piece of art. It makes art a dynamic and integrated part of city life.
  • Bridge the Digital and Physical Worlds for Artists: Artists today have a global digital reach through social media, but struggle to create a physical impact in international art capitals. ArtSeen provides that physical footprint without the logistical nightmare. An artist in Manchester, Kyoto, or Buenos Aires can have a monumental, tangible presence in Berlin during its most important art week, all without shipping a single piece of work. We use technology to break down geographical barriers.
