Memories are often the inspiration for art. Artists give life to the characters and environments of our childhood memories, recording fragments of dreams, snippets of passing time, and experiences that have shaped our lives. This call asks artists to explore childhood memories – early rituals, rites of passage, and innocence of early life experiences that celebrate the passionate world of childhood. Examples include childhood memories pertaining to a specific event or experience that has previously occurred. For example, recollection of an episode among friends or family members in a specific time (holidays), places (school), and/or and memories of the associated emotions of the event.

Entries will be judged on the originality and insight with which they embody this theme visually. Painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, photography, and printmaking will be considered. No digital art, manipulated photography, or video.
Selected artists will have the opportunity to exhibit in an historic gallery facility that is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. They will have the opportunity to have their art judged by Seung Lee for awards $500 Best in Show, $300 Second Place, $100 Third Place.
Seung Lee’s paintings, drawings, and large-scale installations have been exhibited extensively in the United States and internationally – China, Italy, France, Japan, and Korea. He has received numerous reviews in the New York Times, Newsday, Kyoto Times, Korea Daily News and Art World , Art in Culture, Art Price, and Art and People Magazines.
About Mills Pond Gallery
Smithtown Township Arts Council operates Mills Pond Gallery in an historic Greek Revival building built in 1838. There are five gallery rooms and the facility can display an average of 60 works of art.
Adaptation of Mills Pond House for public use has introduced modern mechanical systems to the structure without impairing its historic integrity. Gallery lighting and handicapped access have been designed to complement the original building. Notable among the circa 1838 Grecian details are the gold-veined marble mantelpieces, ornamental plater “centres” applied to the ceilings, and front and rear stoops supported by wooden Doric columns.
Mills Pond house preserves the locality’s name, but departs from tradition in other respects. Its high-style Grecian design is unusual on Long Island and the hand of an accomplished architect is nearly unique at this early date. Pollard’s influence is seen in the use of imported materials: Albany boards, Carolina yellow pine, English glass, Connecticut stone, and Santo Domingan mahogany. The silvered hardware, decorative plaster, and carpeting were bought in New York City shops. William Wickham Mills died in 1865. His home descended in the family until its gift to the Town of Smithtown in 1976. Today, it is preserved for use as an arts-related facility.

Entries welcome from all 2D and 3D artists regardless of your experience or education in the art field. Submit your best representational and non-representational art.
The Black History Month competition will be judged on three categories: painting / drawing, photography / digital art, and mixed media / 3D art. An online exhibition of all entrants will be held from March 1st, 2023, to March 28th, 2023.

[Side Arts Certified Sponsored Listing] The Berkeley Arts Council (BAC) announces a call for artists for the 13th Annual Art and Earth Juried Art Exhibit. The exhibit will be on display from Wednesday, April 5 to Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Berkeley Art Works, 116 North Queen Street, Martinsburg, West Virginia. This is the 13th year of this annual exhibit, which has reached a national constituency since it’s beginning in 2010. It is the Berkeley Arts Council’s premier annual event.
The exhibit has the theme ‘Art and Earth: My Art – My World’. Entries should reflect the artist’s view of nature, the environment, or reflect an Earth Day related theme.

It wasn’t long before plein air (painting outdoors) artists like William Wendt and Frank Cuprien moved to Laguna Beach.

All artists age 16 and older, working in any media, may apply to this show. Work previously exhibited in LibertyTown’s gallery is not eligible. Work must be original and not from kits.
Work accepted into the All That I Adore show must be for sale. Applications must be submitted electronically; no physical pieces will be accepted at the gallery for jurying. Work that will be displayed must be ready to show, with no unfired media, and no wet paint or other unfinished surfaces. LibertyTown will provide pedestals and shelving as needed. LibertyTown reserves the right to reject works accepted by the juror due to content, space constraints, or inability to properly install the work.

LibertyTown Arts Workshop is a 13,000 square foot art facility located in downtown, Fredericksburg, Virginia, located halfway between DC and Richmond and a tourist destination rich in history.

For this artist opportunity the gallery is seeking works that speak to the word, Celebrate. The subject matter can be literal, like a depiction of an event, wedding, festival, or party. It could be about how you feel when you celebrate or of places you like to be when you feel like celebrating or rejoicing. The work could be of traditional holidays and what celebrating those looks like for you. The art could convey the way one feels inside when celebrating or how love and those you love make you feel.
All artists who submit to Celebrate Art will be accepted and have at least one of their submitted works posted and promoted on the Las Laguna Art Gallery website and to their client list. For this call NYC4PA is challenging photographers to pair two photographs and submit them in diptych format (both images in one file). The images in each file will be “almost” the same but different enough to make each unique. You may have two versions of an image that you processed differently, or the same scene shot at different times of day. The Midsummer Festival of the Arts remains committed to “generating a creative exchange between artists and the public.” Held at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in downtown Sheboygan, Wisconsin, a few blocks from Lake Michigan, the Festival, now in its 53rd year, nurtures connections between artists and community. This weekend event offers live music and performances, exhibitions, hands-on art making, demonstrations, food, and fun on the grounds of the Arts Center and Sheboygan’s City Green. To ensure the continued participation of as many interested artists as possible, exhibiting artists’ fees are kept moderate and many amenities are provided.
In response to the exhibition on view during the festival, Cloth as Land: Hmong Indigeneity, and in celebration of the Sheboygan Hmong Summer Festival happening the same weekend, an additional minimum of five artists of Hmong heritage will be selected to be featured inside the Arts Center. The Arts Center may designate additional spaces for local and community partnerships coordinated and selected by Arts Center staff.
Midsummer Festival of the Arts Artist Awards
Cash awards will be given based on the artist’s entire body of work. Excellence, regardless of medium, will be the determining factor. Judging will take place on Saturday, July 15, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Awards will be announced and presented on Sunday, July 16; prizewinners who do not return to exhibit on Sunday forfeit the award.
Artist Amenities
- 15,000-20,000 people are anticipated to attend this event.
- An early shopping opportunity for Art Patrons is provided. Guests who attend our Art Patron Breakfast get first shopping opportunity and promise to spend a minimum of $100 on art at the festival.
- Complimentary booth-sitting service will be provided, subject to availability.
- A detailed or complete view of one image from each artist’s slides will be shown on the Arts Center’s website. Artists can choose to have their contact information displayed as well. (The Arts Center does not release this information to patrons.)
- Artists will be able to purchase Festival T-shirts in advance.
- Security guards patrol the grounds Friday and Saturday nights.
- Advertising, digital marketing, billboards, newspapers, television coverage, radio ads, Festival newspaper inserts, day-of-Festival program, cooperative advertising, Arts Center website, and the Art Patron Program reach local and regional buyers.
