[Sponsored Listing] Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau announces a call for artists for the Pearland Art & Crafts On The Pavilion juried art show. The two-day, juried event will be held on Saturday, October 9th and Sunday, October 10th at the Pearland Town Center Pavilion, 11200 Broadway Street, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event returns after a successful 2019 turnout. It highlights handcrafted artisan pieces from across the Lone Star State. In addition to shopping for unique gifts and decor, visitors will enjoy live music, food trucks, and a kid’s interactive station. Artists should expect anywhere from 2,500 to 3,000 guests, between the two days of the juried event. They will look to browse and purchase original artwork from a variety of mediums. The Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau hopes to see guests from across the state, and even from neighboring states, at this event. They hope that the Pearland Art & Crafts on the Pavilion audience brings awareness to the city of Pearland, arts community of Texas, and to specific artists chosen to participate as vendors.

The role of the Convention & Visitors Bureau is to promote and coordinate tourist related activity within the City of Pearland. With the support of the Town of Trophy Club and esteemed sponsors, this new event promises to be an exciting and enriching addition to everyone’s springtime.

The festival will celebrate the arts, natural garden beauty and Mother’s Day in a family-friendly, relaxed atmosphere of garden greenery among the walkways of Town Center. The work of up to 40 regional artists will be showcased for Mother’s Day weekend shoppers. Artisans and gardeners will round out the offerings – and possible gifts for Mom. Special activities for children, a variety of culinary delights and beverages supplied by regional vendors, and light local entertainment will make this a festive and well-attended event for families throughout the northwest Metroplex area.

​The jury will select a balance of mediums, but will not impose limits for any given category. The integrity of the panel review process is of the greatest importance to the Festival and the larger arts community. Selections will be based solely upon the quality of the work as submitted.

Rotating Sculpture Program (Keller, TX) – Call For Artists

[Sponsored Listing] The Keller Public Arts Board announces a call for artists for the 2021 Old Town Keller Rotating Sculpture Program, seeking five sculptures that are appropriate for public viewing and support the family friendly atmosphere of the City of Keller. The rotating sculptures join a permanent collection of 8 diverse pieces located throughout the city. The City of Keller invested over $4 million in improvements for the Old Town location, including the construction of a linear pedestrian promenade, addition of outdoor seating and community areas, and installation of 11 concrete sculpture pads. Old Town is home to an eclectic blend of restaurants and small businesses that attract a variety of visitors and provide great exposure for art in the area.

Sculptures remain under the artist’s ownership and are loaned to the exhibit for a two-year period. All sculptures must be “family appropriate” and pose no risk to public safety; no sexual, bloody, or violent content shall be accepted. Sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand the harsh Texas weather and require no maintenance by the City of Keller. Pieces sold while on display may be removed but the artist must replace the sold artwork with a different sculpture, with approval by the Board, within 60 days of removal of the sold piece.

Rotating Sculpture Program Artist Benefits

A $1,500 honorarium shall be awarded for each piece for the installation, exhibition, and removal of the artwork for a two-year period. One-half of the stipend will be provided to the artist upon selection and the remainder shall be paid upon successful installation. One Best in Show winner shall be awarded an additional $500.

Keller Art Walk Plein Air Artists (Keller, TX) – Call For Artists

The Keller Public Arts Board is seeking six artists to paint or sculpt during the Keller Art Walk event. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020. Artists will be expected to work in their booth space, viewable to the public, for the duration of the event, excluding reasonable breaks for lunch. Artwork created during the event must be appropriate for public viewing and support the family friendly atmosphere of the City of Keller, Texas. In addition to plein air artists, the event will feature a kid zone, live music, and vendors. Artists not selected as plein air artists by the Board may participate in the event with a regular paid vendor spot.

The Keller Public Arts Board will host the fourth annual Keller Art Walk on November 14, 2020 in the city’s recently updated Old Town area. The Board is offering free booth space and a $150 stipend to six artists selected as the event’s plein air artists. The Keller Art Walk is an arts and music festival designed to give local artists an affordable opportunity to showcase their work while attracting people to experience Keller’s burgeoning arts and entertainment district.

Although the Keller Art Walk is open to vendors of all types, all vendor recruitment is directed at artists and the Board sincerely hopes the event can be of benefit to the participating artists. The Keller Art Walk is held in the Old Town Keller West area, located on the west side of U. S. Highway 377 near the city’s border with Fort Worth. The Keller Public Arts Board has sole discretion on booth location for each artist.

Keller Art Walk Plein Air Artists Honorarium

Each selected artist will receive a $150 honorarium on the day of the event. Selected artists will receive booth space, inclusive of a 10 x 10 canopy (optional), at no charge for displaying and selling additional work. Artists’ names and website/social media contacts will be posted on the event website, Facebook page, and on-site signage. Booth space includes set up and tear down.

ArtPrize Public Art Grant (Austin, TX) – Call For Artists

ArtPrize Grand Rapids announces a call for artists for a Public Art Grant.  On March 16, the selected artists will each have five minutes to pitch their installation ideas for ArtPrize 2020 to a panel of art experts from around the country. ArtPrize will work to connect the selected artist with firms providing in-kind services, designed to assist with project budgets. These firms can include shipping, construction, engineering and materials. These donations are not guaranteed.

The ArtPrize competition, which takes place every other fall in Grand Rapids, MI, is open to any artist and decided by public vote. It invites artists to try out new ideas for an audience. Registered artists and venues connect online at artprize.org and agree to present the artwork for public display during the 19-day event. The public votes using mobile devices and the web to distribute $250,000 in cash prizes.

In 2018, the tenth installment of ArtPrize included over 1,260 entries representing 40 countries and 41 U.S. states and territories. ArtPrize annually attracts more than half a million active participants. Since its inception, individuals of all backgrounds have cast more than 3.4 million votes for public art.

Public Art Grant Participant Benefits

$15,000 will be provided to the winning artist to offset costs for

  • Transportation and installation of artwork to ArtPrize
  • Maintaining the installation throughout the event
  • Removing installation after ArtPrize 2020
  • Restoring installation site to its original condition (Leave No Trace)

Following this open call for proposals, five finalists from anywhere in the U.S. will be provided with a stipend of $500 to travel to Austin during SXSW Interactive. Each artist will present for five minutes, using up to five slides to describe their proposal to a live audience and a panel of five judges. One artist receives a $15,000 grant to install the project at ArtPrize 2020, slated to take place from September 16 to October 4, 2020. At ArtPrize, the project will compete for $250,000 in prizes determined by public vote.

This call to artists is for four (4) individual art benches in four separate locations.

Phase IV-B of this public art project will feature four (4) new art benches to be installed along The Woodlands Waterway adjacent to The Cynthia Woods-Mitchell Pavilion (Ranked #3 Best Music & Outdoor amphitheater in the world). Through a partnership with The Woodlands Township and the generous funding of underwriters, twenty art benches have been commissioned and installed along The Woodlands Waterway and in the Hughes Landing commercial area adjacent to Lake Woodlands. Designed by local, national, and international artists, these one-of-a-kind art benches add beauty to our community while serving a practical function.

Three (3) semi-finalists will be chosen for each bench location in a preliminary selection process. One (1) finalist for each location will be chosen to construct an art bench. Each of the four finalists will receive a $8,000 for bench selected and installed.

The Mayor’s Star Council (MSC) is issuing a call to artists/artist teams interested in creating unique durable artwork to serve as bus stop installations 2019 at specific locations in Southern Dallas. Each installation is sponsored by private donors and maintained by DART as part of a network of art installations in Dallas bus stops. The MSC has teamed up with DART, DISD, and local Dallas artists on this new initiative. Together with partners, the MSC is creating the opportunity for artwork designed by local artists, and co-envisioned by Dallas high school students, to be showcased at select DART bus stops throughout the City of Dallas.

Each unique bus stop installation:

  • Encourages local students to envision and take ownership for the future of their communities. Working with a team of artists, students envision the future of their neighborhoods while connecting that vision to the recognition and honor of the community’s past.
  • Highlights the history and culture of the neighborhood in Dallas it is located in. This project promotes the strong heritage of communities in Southern Dallas. It highlights the stories and history that aren’t always visible in locations visited by hundreds to thousands daily.
  • Connects Northern and Southern Dallas. By offering a uniquely creative opportunity for investment, the Bus Stop installations facilitate the economic and cultural linkage of south and north. They enable Dallas-based donors and corporations from across the region to consider and invest in Southern Dallas. Sister stops offer the additional opportunity for students and all interested Dallas residents to follow the trail or bus route connecting two Dallas communities.
  • Incorporates the brand or logo of the sponsor. The Bus Stop installations offer a unique way to highlight organizations making an impact in our city.

Bus Stop Installations 2019 Artist Benefits

Artists will be paid $1000 for their participation. They will be part of a unique collaboration between Mayor’s Star Council, DISD high school students, a local business, DART, and a local Dallas community. Artists learn about the history of the neighborhood. They will be inspired by the kids who will provide their vision for the future of the neighborhood. The art piece will be installed in a DART bus stop shelter. It will be visible for the community for years to come. Thousands of people will be exposed to this art piece. The artist becomes part of the MSC community, continuing to work alongside our group in new capacities.

About Mayor’s  Star Council

The Mayor’s Star Council’s mission is to empower leaders to impact Dallas through three pillars: Learn, Connect, and Serve. MSC members engage with peers who share the same passion for improving Dallas. They gain valuable experience that serves as a catalyst for becoming a committed leader.

The MSC is made up of a group of diverse leaders from the ages of 25-40 that come from eight different areas of cultural and professional influence: Arts ahd Entertainment, Business, Education, Government, Hospitality & Tourism, Media, Religion, and the Social Sector. The Irving Arts Center announces a call for artists for the Texas and Neighbors Regional Art Exhibition 2019, open to artists 18 and older living in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Up to three works of two-dimensional art may be entered by an artist for an entry fee of $50 ($40 for IAA members). Exhibit dates: May 18 – June 15, 2019. The annual Texas & Neighbors exhibit is back for its 34th year! This five-state competition is highly respected and very competitive. Held in the spring at the prestigious Irving Arts Center. Cosponsored by the Irving Art Association and the Irving Arts Center. Texas And Neighbors Regional Art Exhibition 2019 supports: canvas, panel, paper, or yupo. Two-dimensional works must classify in one of the following five categories:

  • Oil painting
  • Acrylic
  • Water Media – Watercolor, casein, and gouache
  • Mixed Media -The use of two or more mediums, collage, calligraphy, hand-pulled prints. Collage must incorporate two-dimensional, self-created elements. No relief or three-dimensional objects including found objects or magazine clippings.
  • Drawing (Dry Media) – Pastel, colored pencil, graphite, ink, silver, gold, conte crayon, oil pastel, markers, and scratchboard

Submitted works of art must be two-dimensional originals completed within the last two years without instructor supervision. Work must not be a copy of other artist’s work (including reference photographs).

Jurors: Susan Roth Romans and Jordan Roth, Owners, Ro2 Art Gallery in Dallas.

Ro2 Art, a contemporary fine art gallery located in The Cedars Neighborhood near Downtown Dallas, represents a diverse group of emerging, mid-career, and established contemporary artists – many with ties to the North Texas Region. The gallery, founded in 2010 by mother-and-son partners Susan Roth Romans and Jordan Roth, regularly collaborates with organizations such as The MAC and Cedars Union and maintains an exhibition program within the Magnolia Theatre at West Village and other satellite venues.

Ro2 Art has been named Dallas Observer’s “Best Art Gallery” and was presented with the 25th Annual Obelisk Award for small business by the North Texas Business Council for the Arts. The gallery’s art fair program has included the Dallas Art Fair, Texas Contemporary, and Art Aspen.

Texas & Neighbors Signature Status (TxN) is earned by having five paintings exhibited in the Texas & Neighbors exhibit. This designation is retroactive. A medal and certificate are awarded. Artists who receive signature status have the right to add the TXN acronym to their paintings plus a listing with a direct link to their websites on the TxN site.

On March 9th & 10th, 2019, Funky Finds will host Pearl Snaps and Dust: Upscale Vintage with a Little Bit of Rust. The event will be held in the newly renovated Small Exhibits Building at Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas next door to the 11th Annual Funky Finds Spring Fling, an all handmade artisan market.
