La Grange Business Association announces a call for artists for the 25th West End Arts Festival, to be held on 9/12 and 9/13/2020 in suburban La Grange, IL. Located just outside Chicago, this upscale, family-friendly community holds this annual end of the summer event which attracts thousands. The event is free to the public. Parking is free. The event features art demonstrations, art activities for kids, food vendors, wine, jazz music, and culinary art.

With more than 100 art galleries and artist studios to explore, you’ll come to understand why Laguna Beach is a beloved “art colony.” In fact, the area was discovered by artists. In the late 1800s, visitors were making an annual pilgrimage through the canyons to camp at Laguna Beach each summer. By 1903, painters like Norman St. Clair were visiting from San Francisco, attracted to the landscape and light only found on the coast of Laguna. Like tourists of any era, St. Clair returned home with glowing reports and landscape paintings that led his artist friends to follow him south.
It wasn’t long before plein air (meaning, painting outdoors) artists like William Wendt and Frank Cuprien moved to Laguna Beach. Within a few years, Laguna Beach had a permanent population of about 300 people – half of whom were artists.

CUE Art Foundation is currently seeking CUE Solo Exhibition 2021 proposals. The open call provides emerging and under-recognized artists and curators the necessary resources to realize an exhibition at CUE’s storefront gallery in 2021. Each year, a panel of established artists and curators select two solo exhibitions and one curatorial project to be realized at CUE.

Finalists are paired with a member of the selection panel, who works with them as a mentor throughout the process of planning and mounting the exhibition. The Dairy Arts Center invites artists’ proposals for a permanent public art sculpture dedicated to Indigenous people in the Boulder, Colorado community and region. The intent is to acknowledge the traditional Indigenous inhabitants of the land occupied by the Dairy.

This call is open to Indigenous artists only. A selection committee of Indigenous community members, artists and activists will lead the Dairy in the review and selection of the proposals. When a final proposal is selected, the Visual Arts curator will work with and support the selected artist(s) in the production of the project, from technical development to engagement. The completed work shall be installed in time to honor Indigenous Peoples Day, Monday, October 12, 2020.

The selected artist will receive up to $10,000 for time and materials. Additional funding for installation or other needs will be considered.
Artists’ responsibilities will be defined in a written commission agreement, which may include, but will not be limited to agreeing to:
- Work with curator and staff, along with possible consultants (for example, structural engineers or art conservators) to finalize material specifications and fabrication plans (including technical drawings), to ensure the artwork’s durability for display in an outdoor context.
- Work with curator and staff to develop final fabrication budget.
- Adhere to established schedule and deadlines for the project.
- Participate in periodic presentations with various community constituencies.
- Participate in documentation of the project’s development with Dairystaff.
- Work with the Dairy staff and contractors and being present during the installation of the piece.
- Communicate regularly with Dairy staff throughout the development, fabrication, and installation of the project.

Waterloo Arts invites all artists residing in the US or Canada to submit artwork for the Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition 2020. This is an opportunity for artists to exhibit work in Cleveland, Ohio. Deja 42 Art Gallery announces a call for artists for those who would like to present their work in their upcoming March exhibition, Spring Forward. The New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA) announces a call for artists for Decay Corrosion Rust 2020. There are new shiny things all around us. Are they as interesting as an old rusted car, peeling paint on a run down building, or half fallen walls in a dilapidated castle? There is amazing beauty in the decayed, corroded, and rusted, making those images more compelling and interesting than those of readily available brand new items.

Consider the amazing textures and colors in an abandoned, dilapidated factory, the rust on an old bike, contrasting plaster and lathing on a corroded wall, and the myriad of possible captures in a junkyard. Neighborhoods, disparagingly called “run down,” are treasure troves of “decayed” tumble down houses, “corroded” discarded toys, “rusted” cars, and trash cans.
Entries for Decay Corrosion Rust 2020 can take many forms – black and white, color, and abstract. All photographic media are welcome.
