Artists are responsible for any costs related to transporting accepted work to the gallery and transporting unsold work away at the end of the show.

Beauty found or created in the form of an everyday object can be even more magical. It’s this extraordinary ordinary magic that LibertyTown wants to celebrate with this show. Glazes must be food safe on any surface which is intended to come in contact with food or drink. Work previously exhibited in LibertyTown’s gallery is not eligible. Work must be original and not from kits. Cast mugs are welcome, so long as the mug mother mold is of your own design. Commercially designed underglaze transfers will be allowed, but must be noted. Artists are responsible for any costs related to transporting accepted work to the gallery and transporting unsold work away at the end of the show.

This show will be juried by Dan Finnegan. Dan has been a potter for over 40 years. He was trained at Winchcomb Pottery under Ray Finch in England and moved to the Fredericksburg region in 1980 to make pots. He has taught workshops and classes all over the country and in Europe and is a mug handle connoisseur. Dan has been shown in galleries all over the United States and Europe. His work is included in many private collections all over the world.

[Sponsored Listing] The Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) announces a call for artists for the 2021 Lubeznik Arts Festival. The festival will take place August 21 and 22 in Michigan City, Indiana. This popular festival is currently in its 40th year. It is one of the highlights of summer in Northwest Indiana. It takes place on LCA’s grounds to connect festivalgoers to the organization’s dynamic programming and exhibitions. LCA’s summer blockbuster Bramson / Indiana / Lake will show works by Phyllis Bramson, Robert Indiana, and Mayumi Lake.

Artists must submit 4 images of their work. LCA selects individual fine artists and fine crafters through a jury process. Additionally, LCA’s galleries will be available for use by regional galleries or artists that represent the best in emerging contemporary art. LCA anticipates 85 exhibitors in total. The festival is extensively marketed via social media, radio, TV, print, and promotional signage.

LCA has taken precautions like their partners at other nonprofit agencies, museums, and schools. They support face to face distancing and all sanitary guidelines that are recommended. If the festival is cancelled due to health concerns and/or government guidelines, LCA will return all entry fees to artists promptly.

The duration of the residency is one month. It offers a one bedroom self-accommodating cabin on the site of Pond Farm Pottery and a stipend of $250 to help cover some expenses, e.g. for food or travel.

Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods is the nonprofit organization that supports education and stewardship programs in Russian River area State Parks.

Pond Farm is a special place. It originally started as an artists’ community in the late 1940s, then transitioned to Pond Farm Pottery where studio pottery artist Marguerite Wildenhain lived, worked, and taught annual summer workshops. Marguerite Wildenhain dedicated her life to her craft. After finishing her studies at the Bauhaus she became the first female master potter in Germany. She was a remarkable woman who touched many lives through her work and her teachings. Marguerite strongly believed that the journey to become a true artist was not about learning a technique, but much more about the development of the whole person, an “opening of the soul.”

The mural will be painted by the community members with the help and guidance of the mural artist. The artist(s) will be assisted in the project by all of the partners and the City of Elgin.

About the Elgin Social Justice Collective

What space can we make to allow for further artistic expression? How can we create a lasting reflection of the activities of the summer of 2020? What space can we make to allow for peaceful and impactful gatherings of community members to engage? How do we elevate equity in our community? An ad-hoc group of community individuals (now known as the Elgin Social Justice Collective) came together and worked to identify a project that would address those questions. The project consists of four parts: a mural, a documentary, a Juneteenth partnership, and a scholarship.

Cups With Conscience Artist Benefits

This exhibit is juried by Richard Notkin and Beth Lo. Jurors will be judging the overall style and quality of your work, not individual pieces. If accepted, you may ship up to five cups of your choosing in the same material and style as your submission(s).

Opportunities for lectures and workshops may be offered to artists to accompany the exhibition in addition to a virtual artist reception with jurors. $800 in awards will be distributed. The show is held in a gallery with a loyal local following and press contacts. If a reception is held (due to possible continuing COVID restrictions), reception estimated to attract several hundred attendees. Artists’ work will be promoted in local press, social media, postcards and eblasts to an over 800-person email list. Show will be on the walls of the gallery for a month.
