The Arts Council of Lake Oswego (ACLO) is pleased to invite artist submissions of up to three works of art per artist for outdoor public display in Lake Oswego’s nationally recognized, award-winning outdoor Gallery Without Walls exhibit. In its twenty first year, this program’s mission is to integrate art into the daily lives of local residents and visitors by presenting works from artists that resonate with people of diverse backgrounds. Public Art in Lake Oswego fosters a sense of place for the City, it enriches built and natural environments, encourages economic development, promotes sustainability, and provides opportunities for exploration, discovery, and delight.

Artists can submit completed works and proposals for new works to be completed by installation in August of 2021. Artwork will be on display throughout the downtown business district for a two-year exhibition period starting in the summer of 2021 and ending in the summer of 2023. Submissions will be evaluated by a Selection Committee based upon the overall quality and merit of the submitted art works. The Arts Council seeks works of a variety of media including sculpture, new media, projections, and murals. They encourage proposals that engage, educate, and inspire the community. Submissions of artwork that has been created within the last three years is highly encouraged.

Logistics
Artworks are generally displayed on concrete plinths of varying sizes and locations. There are options (while limited) for earth mounting works in a park or green space as well as utilizing building facades for proposed murals, projections, or similar. A limited number of plinth locations have electrical capability. Selected artists will be notified of their anchoring/display method in May. Anchor methods are either anchor bolts or weld only depending on the assigned site location. The engineer typically requires 1/2″ Titen HD bolts that screw through the sculpture base. Bolts are provided by the Arts Council. Base plate holes must be drilled to 3/4″ to accommodate bolts.
Concrete pads range in size from 2 x 2′ – 7 x 7′ (4 – 49 square ft.). Weld only pads require weld-able tabs on the sculpture/sculpture base. If welding, ACLO will provide a welder and contractor on-site for installation and de-installation. The Arts Council’s provided contractor will install all works of art and artists (or an artist representative) are required to attend installation.
Upon installation and during the two-year exhibition period, the City will maintain liability insurance to cover any damages, should they occur. It is the artist’s responsibility to deliver and be present (or send a representative) for installation and de-installation of the work. Artwork cannot be shipped as there are no available vehicles, storage space, or staff for this purpose.
The Arts Council reserves the right to reject work that, upon delivery, differs from the original proposal, or does not meet standards of durability, safety and quality. Artists in the current 2020-2022 GWW exhibition are ineligible to apply and encouraged to apply next year
Gallery Without Walls Artist Benefits
Up to fifteen artists will be chosen by the Selection Committee to display in Lake Oswego, OR. Selected artists will be:
- Awarded an honorarium of $1000
- Eligible for an annual People’s Choice purchase award of up to $20,000 (with a 30% gallery fee)
- Invited to attend the annual Gallery Without Walls Celebration in September. (This is a community celebration premiering the new sculptures and recognizing artists and all who support this wonderful program.)
Selected artists will enter into a two-year contract with the City of Lake Oswego for the exhibition loan period. During the exhibition period, works will be available for sale with a 30% gallery fee, if sold, paid to the Arts Council. Sold artworks must remain on display for the contracted exhibition period.

About The Center for Contemporary Political Art
The Center for Contemporary Political Art is the only art space in the Nation’s Capital dedicated exclusively to presenting art addressing current political issues in real time. CCPArt’s first exhibition was a juried open call show, Defining the Art of Change in the Age of Trump. It launched in September 2018, in time for that year’s mid-term elections.
In an essay written for CCPArt’s first catalog, Dorothea Dietrich, a professor of art history at Princeton before becoming chair of the department of art history and design at Pratt, compared the Defining exhibit to the First International Dada Fair in 1920 in Berlin. CCPArt can think of no higher compliment or, unfortunately, a more apt comparison.

BWAC is privileged to have a NY art expert as juror, Jenée-Daria Strand. With her expert guidance, BWAC looks forward to another spectacular show. Putting it together in a wonderful space will be a fellow artist and BWAC Curator, Kenneth Jackson, creating the look of the exhibition with his placement assignments.
Jenée-Daria Strand is the Curatorial Assistant for the Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum where she supports the research and organization of numerous exhibitions, including “Out of Place: A Feminist Look at the Collection” and the upcoming “Lorraine O’Grady: Both/And.” Jenée-Daria has led and supported projects examining Black subjectivity through historical precedents, including her first independent co-curation of “what once was” in August of 2019 (Gloria Gail Gallery, NYC), and the Alvin Ailey x “The Dinner Party” by Judy Chicago performance collaboration for Women’s History Month 2020 (Brooklyn Museum, NYC), featured in ELLE Magazine. She serves on the Dance/NYC Junior Committee, holds a BFA from Florida State University, and will begin an MA at New York University this Fall.

LibertyTown Arts Workshop announces a call for artists for The Art of Quarantine. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Times of quarantine and lock down can be times of despair and isolation, but they can provide the mind and body space and time to create art in ways we never could before. LibertyTown Arts Workshop decided to do this show to capture a snap shot of all of the work created by artists shut away at home. New artists welcome. All artists age 16 and older working in any media may apply. Literary works must be 1 page or shorter. Visual artwork should be no larger than 24”x24” in any direction. Visual artwork accepted into the show must be for sale. Work that will be displayed on a wall must be ready to hang, with no wet media, no saw tooth hangers, and staple-free edges. LibertyTown will provide pedestals when needed. LibertyTown reserves the right to reject works due to content, space constraints, or inability to properly install the work.
Fees: $15 First piece (everyone gets the member’s price for this show), $5 for each additional piece.
Commission: LibertyTown keeps a commission of 30% on all show sales. Artists are responsible for any costs related to transporting accepted work to the gallery and transporting unsold work away at the end of the show.

LibertyTown Arts Workshop is a large art center located in Fredericksburg Virginia. The entire facility is open to the public to come in, take classes, shop, and interact with the artist as they visit. They have a full knowledgeable staff that are there to help with customers every need and question. They hold monthly shows that hang in the gallery which patrons see as they enter the facility. LibertyTown holds an opening reception event for shows every month on the first Friday as well as lists the show and its items on their website.
As the largest art facility in Fredericksburg Virginia, LibertyTown Arts Workshop has been artist owned and operated since its beginning. The WMATA Eisenhower Avenue building is a 14-story headquarters facility that will consolidate several departments including the authority’s Technology and Engineering groups. It will foster a culture that is safety-focused, customer-centric, and technology-enabled as well as create a rich, immersive employee experience. The building will feel welcoming, open, and accessible. The building’s entry lobby is a light-filled, double-height space wrapping the southwest corner of the building.
Parameters and Goals
The Authority has a history of and expectation for design excellence and, through its Art in Transit Program, has been working to obtain unique, memorable, and engaging site-specific, public artworks. The artists/artist teams shall develop aesthetically attractive public artworks that capture the Authority’s mission and reflect the artistic, cultural and/or historical interests of the surrounding communities. Consideration shall be given to creative uses of materials, massing, scale, form, texture, and detailing. Artworks shall be visually attractive, innovative, and durable. The selected site-specific artworks should impart a sense of pride within the local community and provide a stimulating and attractive environment for the people who will experience the artworks daily.
The artwork selection will follow a two-phase process referred to as Phase 1 and Phase 2. The artist selection panel seeks a pool of applicants with a successful history of public art and collaboration with public agencies and/or design build projects.
Phase 1
Requires artists/artist teams to prepare and submit qualifications as appropriate for the scope of work and qualifications submittal requirements as set forth in this solicitation. An artist selection panel led by WMATA and JLREP, and comprising art and design professionals, will select at least three artists/artist teams as determined by this RFQ’s evaluation criteria.
The selected artists/artist teams will each receive a $1,500 design fee to prepare and submit a site-specific artwork proposal that will comply with the prescribed concepts. These artists/artist teams will then proceed to Phase 2 of the selection process.
Phase 2
WMATA and JLREP will invite the selected artists/artist teams whose qualifications are deemed acceptable to receive detailed contract information for the purpose of submitting site-specific, Phase 2 artwork proposals. WMATA and JLREP expects the proposals to include all premiums required to complete the project on or ahead of the schedule listed in the present RFQ.
As part of the proposal, the artists/artist teams are expected to provide a site-specific design and the estimated costs for fabrication, installation, engineering/architectural coordination, technical, clerical, and other services necessary as well as schedules required for the fabrication and installation of the artwork. The artist/artists team’s experience and professional record should provide convincing evidence of their ability to successfully complete the project as proposed.
The artist selection panel will rank each site-specific artwork based on the evaluation criteria listed in this RFQ and make a recommendation to the WMATA General Manager for approval. JLREP will then enter into negotiations with the top-ranked artists/artist team to finalize the contract award process. If JLREP is unable to reach agreement with the top ranked artists/artist team, they will end negotiations and begin negotiations with the next ranked artists/artist team.
WMATA Public Artwork Budget
The maximum budget for the site-specific art project is not to exceed $250,000 all-inclusive of design (artist fee included), construction, and installation as well as other miscellaneous costs. The budget for artwork as outlined in this call for artists is subject to the availability of funds.

J + K Isacson announce a call for artists for Heaven and Hell, a national fine arts exhibition in Woodstock, IL, northwest of Chicago. The exhibit will be in the Old Courthouse Arts Center, a 5,000 sq ft gallery located on Woodstock’s historic square. Artist Benefits

Giertz Gallery History
In 1981, Parkland’s Art Gallery officially opened its doors through the foresight, interest, and enthusiasm of the college faculty, administration, students, and the community. It was known as Parkland Art Gallery. In 2014, the gallery was named The Donna Hyland Giertz Gallery in recognition of college trustee and former faculty member Donna Giertz after she and her husband, Fred Giertz, provided a generous gift to support Parkland’s Art Gallery. In recognition of this gift and Giertz’s 20+ years of service to Parkland, the college named the existing gallery The Donna Hyland Giertz Gallery also known as The Giertz Gallery at Parkland College.
Centrally located in the main building on the north side of the beautifully landscaped campus, the Donna Hyland Giertz Gallery overlooks an outdoor fountain on the exterior and faces a main thoroughfare of foot traffic. It can be viewed through floor to ceiling windows on the interior with easy access from inside the building. Parkland College was established in 1967. The permanent campus, built in 1973, was designed by the award-winning California-based architect Ernest Kump, It was featured in an exhibit at the New York Museum of Modern Art to highlight outstanding architectural designs.
Born of the concept that the campus was an educational village, it was designed to welcome the community and provide a relaxed feeling and easily accessible resources. The Giertz Gallery features a professionally designed space but maintains the feeling of the original architectural intent. Situated in the main part of campus, it remains central to student life. It is readily available to the community.
Giertz Gallery Programming
Open year round, the Gallery has an extensive exhibition calendar that includes seven exhibitions per year and includes solo and group exhibitions. The Gallery hosts the State of the Art: National Biennial Ceramics Invitational on alternating years. It engages a guest curator so that the exhibitions continue to reflect current viewpoints from many different perspectives. An exhibition catalog accompanies the biennial exhibit that includes background information on the participating artists and a scholarly essay by the guest curator.
To complement and support the educational mission of the Fine Arts Program, an annual Art and Design Faculty Exhibition takes place to highlight the talent of the Faculty at Parkland College in Art and Visual Communication Design. Two juried exhibitions of work by Parkland College students in the Art and Design program and the Visual Communication Design Program are part of the yearly schedule. They provide practical professional experience to students and allow the community to see the talents and efforts of these emerging artists.
Artist receptions, gallery talks, For Art’s Sake, and videotaped interviews with artists aired on Parkland College Television Station are presented to interpret many exhibitions including the High School Art Seminar, Gallery Tours, and High Noon with the Artist lecture series. Programs are offered to school groups between kindergarten and twelfth grade, college classes, teachers, and community members. Class tours encourage students to develop critical thinking and communication skills while expanding their understanding of art in the gallery.
In the studio, students learn to prepare their work and understand the professional requirements of exhibiting their work in a professional space. The unique location on the Parkland College Campus allows students the opportunity to visualize college life and imagine a possible career in the arts beyond school. The gallery completes the circle by teaching college students to become educators in the arts. By introducing significant visual arts close to home in the Parkland Community, these programs can lay the foundation for a lifelong interest in the arts.

Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts announces a call for artists for their Summer / Fall Wyoming Residencies, offering time and space for artistic exploration through immersion in the extraordinary beauty of the West. Located on 30,000 acres of scenic splendor at the base of the Medicine Bow National Forest outside of Saratoga, Wyoming, the camp is situated right next to Brush Creek, in between the Sierra Madre and Snowy Mountain ranges.

Writers, visual artists, performance artists, musicians, and composers are encouraged to apply for a three week artist residency program, complete with lodging, meals, working facilities, and incredible natural beauty. Residents are at liberty to structure their own time and activity while on a creative retreat.

During their time at the Artist Camp, artists will be provided a single room with private bath, individual studio space, and meals. Breakfast fare is provided for self-service,while lunch and dinner are shared family-style in the common area each night.

Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts offers residencies for artists on a historic working ranch in Wyoming.
Imbued with the spirit of the American West, the ranch sits at the base of the Medicine Bow National Forest between the Sierra Madre and Snowy Mountain ranges just outside the town of Saratoga, Wyoming. From countless miles of trails to hike, bike, snowshoe, or cross-country ski, this unique destination offers endless ways to enjoy this spectacular country.
A diversity of wildlife call the ranch home, including antelope, deer, elk, moose, fox, badger, and marmots.
The Artist Camp features eight working studios in historic, restored ranch buildings and eight individual residences with private bath, closet, and separate work space. Kitchen, library, family room, and laundry facility are shared.
